CHAPTER EIGHT

I know meeting with Suzan was the worst decision I can ever make. Mostly now that there was a bastard out there that was thinking of using the ring for bad things. Endangering all of humanity.

She was working for the man that was gunning up on me and they wanted my church down. So, yeah, I was aware of the crap I was getting myself into. She didn’t recognize me the other night only because I had my back facing her. I wonder how she missed my hair.

But I burnished all those possibilities and walked to her car. It was embarrassing that she was the one picking me up. But I had no car, I was an assassin for the church. Not someone they pay to kill the president. I gestured for her to just stay in the car as I entered. I swallowed loudly as I turned for her to get a good look at me.

“Hey,” I said, and she looked at me with bewildered eyes. “I know this is weird.”

“You think? What are you doing here? I’m waiting for….. wait, its you? Why the hell would you want us to meet? Because I’m sure you have heard about our church not liking St Francis Xavier. Do you want to threaten me or kill me?” she asked with trembling lips.

I didn’t even know what to tell such a person, really. She was scared of me because of what they might have believed I was. Because they might be thinking I was possessed by demons or something.

But I needed to be careful with my word usage. If I say anything wrong, this might be the end of me. She was going driving to her pastor and tell the man that I wanted to silence her. So, whatever I say or do, I need to show her that they are wrong about me. That they need to stop saying things they had no idea of.

I raised my hands in surrender, “I’m not a killer. And I’m not involved in the killings that have been happening. Okay, a bit. But I’m not the one that has been killing and neither are my forks,” I spoke. “You need to know that we are trying to prevent such things from happening. We are trying to stop the killing and not that we are the ones killing,” I explained.

There was silence for a while. I don’t know what I was going to do if the woman refused to listen to me and decide to go. Because they will make a story out of this and that story will come hunting my church. Not only that, Roland and father will be upset that I made such a move.

“Then why were you constantly seen at the scenes of the crime? Every kill you have been there. Well, except for the one that happened last night,” she spoke.

So, they have been following me, “why are you following me? And why have you yourselves been at the scenes? What were you doing there? I can equally ask you the same questions you are asking me? I can as well think you are involved in the killings,” I spoke.

She was quiet for a while then she spoke as she played with her hands, “because pastor Chileshe told us that you are involved and we need to find something that links you to the killings. That we need to find enough evidence,” he explained.

So, she was just someone that the pastor was using. Because she was stupid not to ask questions about it. She was just going along with whatever she was told.

“Did you ask him or try to find out why he thinks I’m involved?”

She played with her long black hair for a while then looked at me, “because he is always right. If he says you are bad news, then I have to believe him,” she spoke.

“Oh sweetheart,” I rubbed my hand on her shoulder. “Even pastors can do things because they hurt someone and not because that person is a bad person. Try to ask him for me. Just be careful. Also, I was there because I was trying to catch the person that is killing people.”

“Why are you trying to catch them by yourself? Someone that kills like that, draining someone’s blood like that can be dangerous.”

“Let me worry about that. I will tell you the rest when you find out from your big man why he thinks I’m involved and why he hurts me. Just don’t let him play mind games on you. Just know I’m not the one killing people and neither are my people. We are the people trying to prevent the killing and for people to know about the killer,” I spoke as I carried on rubbing a hand on her shoulder.

After a while she asked, “what did you mean by the people killing shouldn’t be known by people? Doesn’t that save your name?”

“One thing at a time. You will know about the rest later. Just do what I have asked you to. Then I will tell you about me more. In the meantime, let’s go on a date. Your treat,” I patted her cheek and looked away.

She started the engine and took off.

I was still wondering why I was going out with her. I mean, I did do what I wanted to do with her. I opened her eyes. The rest was up to her. If she wanted to find out why their pastor was against our church.

But maybe I just wanted to go out and have a good time. Not talk about killing or monsters. And maybe to just forget about my upcoming day.

She drove for nearly an hour and then we reached wherever she took me. It looked elegant. Some place I wouldn’t even think of going to.

“Someone has muscles more than I thought. And why did you take me here? You didn’t need to go all in. I’m the blue-haired man,” I smiled.

She smiled back. “And I’m the daughter of the person that wants the blue-haired man dead. So, it’s like a forbidden love story,” she spoke as her smile stretched wider.

She was crazy then; I thought. Maybe this night will go better than I thought. She will turn out to be the solver of one of my problems. Because I only needed to worry about the other problem that involved a blood sucking bastard.

I got out of the car, and we went to have our dinner.
