Song Of The Dead Bird

Esther watched from the space between the dining room door and its frame. She saw everything, heard everything and for the last time, Esther cried. She recognized the contorted figure standing behind Carry. Her heart broke and her dreams shattered. The old house keeper silently walked towards her bedroom, closed the door and pulled out a nylon rope from her drawer. As she pulled her rocking chair towards the middle of the room, her door slowly opened and a dark shadow like matter slithered on the floor followed by a contorted figure.

Esther smiled and without fear or hesitation, she walked up to the being. "It's alright love, no one can hurt you now" she whispered.

The thing let out an ear splitting scream and wrapped its contorted arm around the house keeper's body. Esther did not flinch or took a step away. She let it hug her and watched how it turned away, leaving dark wet foot marks on the floor.
