Ep 9

Freya's POV

Her ears twitched rapidly as she peered at me in bewilderment, like a hare whose eye had found a carrot.

"Seriously?" she shouted, her eyes wide open and her mouth gaping agape.

My head nodded enthusiastically.

YES, I DID IT!

Her reaction made me feel good inside, knowing that I have finally managed to convince her. However, she seemed skeptical as well. Her eyebrows are knitted together, giving her a look of doubtfulness.

Now is the time for me to add more lies to convince her totally. Of course, I trust Christine, she can detect my lies anytime if I'm not careful.

"So you want to stay here for the night? You've eaten?", She asked me with a bright grin on her face.

Now It seems my lies are working more than my imagination. Like a cool innocent girl, I nodded in acceptance.

"Yes, I've eaten...I ate hamburgers in the afternoon, of course, half loaf is better than none", I replied in a silent pitched tone to crown my lies.

"Ooooh sorry dear.....that means you're into it again. Hope she didn't pierce you with her claws this time. Hope you escape before she clashes her wrathful fangs on you?", Asked Christine as she came closer to me, examining my body carefully to confirm if I'd gotten no injuries.

Talking of SHE, that's my Aunt.

Christine's house has been my fort since my parents' death. She's the only one who truly cared for me, yes I knew it because she'll never hesitate to help me anytime I need her. Even though we fought sometimes, most importantly, she's a loving person and a very good friend indeed.

To be exact, having her in my life is the greatest gift the Heavens has gifted me, especially during those difficult times.

The day I will never forget is the first time I was sent out of the house, this time not by my Aunt, but by my Uncle himself.

Having beaten me to a stupor and revealed hell by his unmerciful belt, he sent me out of the house in the middle of the day, where I starved and wandered around in search of food. He left me alone in the middle of nowhere, hoping that I will starve to death, leaving him free from worries.

I wandered with an empty stomach for hours before I coincidentally met Christine. I didn't recognize her but she did. Christine has been my friend since I was a kid, probably in my sevens or eight, however, we didn't stay long together before we later parted ways.

She took the role of defending me from bullies then, and even till now, she always stands as my defense from any harm.

"If only I'm a hitman, I won't hesitate to give your aunt a headshot and escape through the walls, jumping from one roofing to another like those Ninjas....you know? Those lean assassins with shurikens", clamored Christine jokingly as we all burst into laughter.

I turned to her with the hope of commenting on her words, only to see her holding a dining tray in her hands. My eyes brimmed as I spotted a big plate filled with chicken wings and fries.

"Wowwwwww! This looks yummy yy!", I bubbled in my heart as I stretched forth my hand and collected the plate from her.

Without hesitation, I grasped the chicken wings and began devouring them with gusto, forgetting about the fact that Christine might get angry at me.

I was busy eating until she asked a question that struck me in the throat.

"So, when are you introducing him to me?. Do you mind going over there tomorrow with your friend who just served you her dinner?".

My heart skipped when I heard her ask this question, actually, I didn't plan that aforehand, but now it hits me unprepared.

"Or do you want to invite him over?....geez, can't wait to meet my dear Freya's boyfriend", she teased me as she continued laughing.

I deceitfully reciprocated and joined the laughter, forcing my cheeks to laugh in order not to get detected by her.

"Ohhh really?, Yes we can. I will tell her about you when we both meet next time"........" meet next time or bring out your phone and dial his number before my eyes?", She snarled at me before I could complete my speech.

"I...I...I didn't have his contact yet...", I lied in a weak voice.

She rolled her eyes and sighed in disappointment "You lied to me, didn't you?", she asked me in a disappointed tone.

"Never will I lie to a Friend. I really did meet the guy, however, we haven't agreed on a date yet, so I'm thinking we could both go over there for a visitation tomorrow and introduce you to him", I lied again, without thinking twice.

All I'm concerned about is how I will at least sleep tonight before tomorrow decides what will happen to me.

"Will you take me along, Sis Freya? Is the man rich? Does he have a PS5 at home?" Dave said as he sprang up and rushed towards me, wrapping his hands around my shoulder with excitement.

I was about to reply to him when I felt a sudden ache in my stomach, it was as if something heavy had landed on it.

The pain grew stronger and became unbearable after a few seconds.

It was as if someone cut my insides open and poured acid inside them, making me gasp for breath in agony.

Christine dashed toward me with concern

"What happened to you? What's wrong with you?"She questioned me repeatedly, but I couldn't reply. My lips were trembling uncontrollably and I coughed violently.

The next thing I saw was red liquid dripping from my mouth.

"Blood?"

Christine and Dave screamed at the top of their voice while they rushed toward me. Checking my whole body to confirm if there was any sign of injury, however, there was none.

My eyes are closed tightly and tears of agony stream down my cheeks. My vision became blurred and I lost my sight of seeing.

The last thing I heard before I fainted was Christine asking Dave to dial the Ambulance emergency number.
