nine

A little more though. She just needs a little information to know what game is actually given. If only Cindy hadn't approached too quickly, she would have known the answer.

Anne sighed in frustration.

That woman—Fake Marie Antoinette was an old patient. She had passed the game and... survived? It's possible that this is just a small game that won't cause any casualties, perhaps. Anne wasn't sure. Her hunch said otherwise.

Anne couldn't stop thinking about it. Her legs also couldn't stop pacing in front of the window, even as her calves started to feel sore.

She only stopped when her muscles felt cramped and she had trouble supporting herself. With great difficulty, she climbed into bed and pulled the covers off. Her vision was dizzy with dizziness. There are many things going through her head.

This hospital stresses her out.

Looks like pretty soon, Anne's really going crazy like the rest of the patients.

She curled up on the bed and pulled the blanket up to her neck. Fatigue gnawed at every part of her body, but she had no intention of sleeping. Unfortunately, the drowsiness that had been coming for the past few days without being absent is now back. Anne shouldn't have finished all her food to see which part was medicated, but she was very hungry after a long day at work.

The hospital guards make all the patients work like construction workers. No matter young or old, male or female, all work must be brushed off.

Anne had looked around for Emily after lunch, but it was difficult to find her in the sea of patients in the same hospital uniform. Moreover, under Cindy's watchful eye, she couldn't stand for long periods of time doing nothing.

At this rate, it seemed that she would have to devise a plan to escape.

She didn't care anymore about her lost memories, or the Manson Miller she had been curious about, or what she would face once she got out of this hospital gate. She just wanted to get out of this dump, no matter what.

Anne had to observe everything that happened in the next few days. Cindy would always be watching every time she left the room. She may return to work the next day and so on. So, the only time she was left free to do anything was at night, when she was locked in this room.

That key.

Anne remembered the key that Cindy used. The girl used the key in the middle. They all look exactly the same, but it's possible that the room number is listed there.

The question is: how did she get the key?

Anne tried to rack her brain to find a way out. She pulled her hair, which was still slightly damp after washing it, then twisted it in an original way. Minutes passed, not a single idea stuck in her mind.

She couldn't take it directly by threatening Cindy, of course. It was a very stupid act. Moreover, Cindy carried a syringe everywhere. Although Cindy looks quiet and weak, but seeing how Doctor Diana trusts her so much, she is sure that Cindy is not an ordinary girl.

She had to find another way. Something smart. She was very determined to escape in the near future, before the 'whatever game' began. The more she thought about it, Anne felt that her hopes were also running low.

The woman sighed tiredly. She hugged herself and closed her eyes. She better sleep before her head explodes.

It seemed that Anne had only closed her eyes for a moment when the door to her room creaked open. It seemed like she was just dreaming, or maybe she was just hallucinating because she was too tired.

"Hey Anne? Roseanne?"

A familiar voice rang into the deaf. The distance seemed so close that Anne thought the owner of the voice was whispering directly in her ear. She seemed to know this voice.

"Anne? Are you asleep or are you just pretending?"

Now a hand lightly shook her arm.

"Anne? Are you asleep or passed out?"

The shaking got so strong that the bed shook too. Anne's brow furrowed deeply. How could she dream felt so real like this?

"Okay. If you don't get up, I'll push you to the floor. One... two... three!"

Bruck!

Anne grimaced. Her eyes immediately opened wide. What is this? She looked around and realized she had actually fallen out of bed.

"Finally, you wake up."

Anne turned to the source of the sound at lightning speed. Her eyes bulged when she saw Emily standing on the other side of the bed. She was giggling, as if what she had done earlier was just a joke. Even though the side of Anne's body that hit the floor felt incredibly crushed.

But instead of protesting Emily's actions, she thought of something else. How could that woman be in her room? Anne glanced at the tightly closed door, then the trellised window.

How did Emily get in here? Where did she go?

Anne looked at Emily's figure who still didn't move on the spot, with a big smile plastered on her face. A bad thought suddenly hit her head.

Could it be that the one in front of her now wasn't Emily, but a... ghost?

Anne's face paled. She inched backwards, but Emily suddenly turned around the bed and walked over to her. Anne widened her eyes in horror and was about to scream when Emily grabbed her arm and pulled her to her feet.

"What's with that expression of yours?" asked Emily in surprise.

Anne's scream caught in her throat. She touched Emily's arm—warm, not cold. She then touched the spot where Emily's heart was and thankfully it was still pounding.

Anne breathed a sigh of relief.

Emily pushed Anne's hand away hard. "What are you doing?" She furrowed her brows in confusion.

Anne chuckled. "It is nothing."

Emily narrowed her eyes, but chose not to ask any further.

"How did you get in here?" asked Anne to the point. She had wanted to ask this for a long time, but her mind had turned in another direction. It's true that this place only made her more mentally disturbed.

"Guess what," Emily said. But before Anne could answer, Emily had reached into her hospital uniform pocket and pulled out a key. "I managed to get a duplicate key to your room!"

W-what did she say?

Anne's mouth dropped open and her eyes widened in surprise. Emily happily swung her keys in front of Anne's still shocked face.

"How did you… how did you get it?"

Emily shrugged casually. Her expression turned haughty. "I told you it was very easy to get a duplicate key."

Gosh.

Just a few minutes ago Anne was thinking about how to get her room key from Cindy, but Emily got it easily.

She could escape with the key. No, but they both could escape.

Anne took Emily's hand and looked at her seriously. "Emily, we need to get out of this hospital."
