Mocking Card

Everyone was again filled with shock, even Cecilia herself glanced around. They turned to her while Cole watched on.

“What is it the new boss has for her?”

“Wow, she is quite lucky.”

“She does not need that moron that is close to her at all.”

“He looks poor and wretched.”

Murmurs filled the entire room. Cole was sort of satisfied and angry with the turn out of things. He was doing this because Cecilia was mad at him for staying with her that night and it made her lose the right to the Downs Heritage but he was going to help her get it back.

”He is willing to cooperate with her company on a deal.”Justin announced.

Every one looked quite astonished. The new boss has found a liking to her that quick?

Cole had a satisfied smile on his face as he watched Justin walk away to meet his people.

“But Cecilia is not in charge of the company now because she has lost the right to be the heir.” Martin spoke up, directing a look at her and Cole.

Justin shook his head. “This order is not for the company but for Cecilia. If she is no longer the CEO, I guess the Boss will have to cancel the order then.” He stated. Martin took a step back as he realized this.

He definitely can't let this order pass his family. He will have to look for ways to contact this New boss maybe he can manipulate him.

Seth on the other hand was also thinking the same although he did not say it out. He moved closer to Martin.

“Do you know how we can contact this boss? You know he is a big shot right?” Seth asked him. Martin eyed him and hissed.

“You won’t have a chance. That big shot is mine. Don't try any nonsense.” Martin warned. Seth smiled and raised his hands in a surrender gesture.

“Sorry.” The smile did not reach his face at all and Martin scoffed.

After Justin stepped down from the podium, Martin and Seth made their way to Cole who was waiting for Cecilia to come out.

“Seems like the new boss now has an interest in your wife.” Martin tsked and shook his head in mock pity.

Cole said nothing.

Seth sighed. “I understand. Being poor is really a disease you don't have the money to cure.” he patted Cole on the shoulder but Cole glared at him and pulled away from him.

Seth and Martin shared a look and burst out laughing.

Cole ignored them. He was going to be the heir, he has to overlook some things.

The party was soon over. As they were heading back to the car, Cole told the driver that he would be stopping by his house to take some things but Cecilia cut him a hard glare. "You expect me to follow you to that slum?"

Cole gulped hard and shook his head. "What if I want you to? I am your husband, you should follow me since it involves taking some of my things. I mean what is mine is yours and what is yours is mine." He said, teasing her.

Cecilia uttered a snort. "First of all, what is mine is not yours and secondly, I am not going to that slum with my car."

Cole smiled instead and opened the door for her to enter. "You can go home. I have some unfinished business." He told her and she entered without saying thank you.

He was about to say another word when she slammed the door in his face without caring to look at him.

The thought that if he had not met Cecilia and come to the party baffled him.

What will his life look like?

* * * * *

Cole walked into the house, his eyes looking around for the old man. Then he heard a whistling coming from the side of the house.

He approached the place and saw the old man sitting with his staff.

"You are here. I have been expecting you." He said, looking up at him.

That got Cole more confused. He was here to ask him another thing.

The man patted the seat next to him for Cole to sit. Cole sat with caution.

"I guess you are here to ask why I didn't tell you? And how do I know you already found out?" The old man started.

"I... I used to be your father's secret guard. When he was killed in that accident I was there. I was the one who picked you away from the scene. "

"I can't tell you everything as there are some things you have to figure out yourself. Remember, don't trust the one who is for you. Don't trust the one who is against you. Just as the Godfather would say, Trust no one, not even your heart and eyes but you're head." He said.

Cole wanted to ask many questions. "Why didn't you tell me all these while and made me suffer?"

"Because I was preparing you for the worst. I know that this kind of day where you will find out your true identity was inevitable, I wanted you to be fully empowered about what it takes to be great."

"Those people who sort after the power don't know the real way. Their thirst for blood was all they thought of. So before you climb the throne of the Godfather, know your subordinate first."

"There are seven families where we have one Korean and Chinese family. The Kims and Tians. Be careful of them all." He warned Cole.

Cole watched him for a long time, not knowing what to say at the huge revelation.

"What is your name?" He asked the old man.

"No one."

This was a reply from someone who had vowed not to get tangled in the world anymore.

Cole rose to his feet and gave the older man a slight bow before walking away.

Everything has changed. For worse or good?

~~~
The next morning, Cole rose as early as possible and got into his dress. He needed to get to the bank to pay back his debt. He was not the type to owe people when he has the means to pay them back.
He made sure he hid the card Justin had given him carefully. He approached the bank and dusted his shirt.
As soon as he entered, he stood and glanced around the place to see if anyone will talk to him. But a lady who wore a fancy dress was eyeing him from afar so she came to him and cleared her throat. Cole turned to her with a clear face.
Her lips were painted in a deep dark red lipstick and it was first him looking away for a brief second.
“You must have entered the wrong bank. This place as you can see it is for the VIP customers and judging from your appearance, you are not supposed to be here.” She shook her head and Cole looked down at his dress.
What had his clothes got to do with this?
He shook his head and took out the Black card. He extended it towards her and her eyes narrowed on it.
She suddenly burst out laughing, and the rest of her team mates turned to her at her outburst.
“What is it?” One of them asked.
The lady turned to them and could not help laughing more. “This man over here brought a black card.” She said.
Their brows arched as they stared at him from head to toe.
“Wait, is this not the delivery guy who always delivered pizza and food to us?” One of them asked.
They fully looked at him and surprise coated their faces.
“Yes, he is.” A voice said as he approached them. They swiveled their heads to see Cole’s number one nemesis. Cole thought that he would not have to face any drama since the guy, Gary, was not around but now here was. Cole always delivered all sorts of things to the workers here and Gary had always looked for ways to fault him.
They all chuckled. Gary turned to the lady who seemed confused.
“You can't know him since you are new here. Cole here happened to be the number one delivery guy in the world.” He emphasized on the last words and every one started laughing.
Cole felt really angry as he could no longer endure the mockery. He clenched his fist and a muscle in his jaw twitched.
“I want to see the manager.” He bit out.
“Huh?” They all shared a look amongst themselves and burst out laughing again.
Cole felt a sting of annoyance and approached Gary. “I said I want to see your manager. The money I will want to withdraw cannot be done on the counter so...”
“Chill.” Gary cut in, his eyes still glinting with mockery. “You say that money that you want to withdraw cannot be done on the counter, right? Bring the card, Naomi.” He said and Naomi, the lady, handed the card over to him.
Gary stared at the card and sighed. Just as he was about to speak, a woman’s heels clicked on the floor, and Gary stood on attention as she came to meet them.
Her eyes were initially fixed on Cole who had an angry glare on his face.
“What is going on here?” She asked, her voice smooth like silk and Cole felt her presence.
Gary turned to her and bowed slightly. “This man over here demanded for cash with this card.” He reported, handing the card over to her. The woman collected it and checked the back and front of it. Her eyes hovered over Cole’s appearance. Then she shook her head, “This is card was never made here. In fact, we don't make cards like this. You should leave.” She said and turned to leave but Cole stood his ground.
“What do you mean by that? The person that gave me the card told me it was made here. What are you telling me? Then give me the card if you can’t do your job.” He demanded.
The woman shook her head. “I can’t give you the card because this concerns the entire bank policy. It is obviously fake and we need to make some research on it.” She told him.
Cole became confused. What did she just say?
Gary nodded his head and added, “Yes, that is true. It is fake and you will be arrested if you don't leave now.” He threatened.
Cole shook his head and moved towards the woman but Gary blocked his path with his hand stretched forward.
The woman signaled to the guard around to take Cole out. “Take him out.”
Cole whirled around and prepared. “If you don't let me have the black card, you will...” The guards went towards him and carried him and he began to struggle against them.
“What the hell is going on here?” A very strong and masculine voice boomed from the entrance.
Everyone stopped and turned to look at who had come in. The manager and Gary widened their eyes then the rest of the workers focused back on their works. The president of the Bank had come but he did not inform them he was coming.
This was bad timing.
“Good day, Mr. Luke. This man over here claimed to have brought a black card and he said he was the owner. It is obviously fake and I decided to help him since he could be innocent but he began to yell.” The manager said.
“Yes... Yes, sir. The manager is right. He is nothing but a wretched man and I know he might have stolen the card, considering the way he was in a hurry and shouting.” Gary added.
The President looked at Cole who was breathing hard already. “Let me see the card.” He asked.
Gary and the manager shared a glance and she handed the card over to him.
The president scanned the card and his eyes suddenly widened when he saw the secret VIP mark at the tip of the black card. He was filled with shock.
Instantly, the president faced Cole and bowed his head.
Everyone was filled with shock. What was he doing? Why was he bowing to someone like Cole?
“I am deeply sorry.” He apologized.
