Who Started The Storms?

The attendants soon brought the wine and they popped it open for them. Maxwell stared at Cole with interest.

Anyone could buy a wine that expensive. He told himself but still a question was attached to it, Only The Godfather can buy it without blinking.

“So, Maxwell here is one of your father’s under Men who helps him to do some work.” Justin informed Cole.

Maxwell scoffed. “What made you think I believe that he is the Godfather?” He asked Justin with a straight face.

Justin was already tired of Maxwell’s taunts. “Can you stop this?”

“Can I stop what? You know how dangerous it is to pluck someone from the street and place him on the Godfather’s throne. Do you remember what happened the last time something like that happened? Every one of us was harmed one way or the other. And I will not sit and watch you place some lowly born from the slums on the throne. We will wait for the young master. Whether it takes years or decades, we will find him and make him our King again.” Maxwell’s voice boomed. Justin glared daggers at him and shook his head.

Cole cleared his throat and leaned forward on the table. “I thank you for all your honesty and loyalty but how would you know the Godfather if you meet him?” He asked Maxwell who slowly swallowed down the taste of the wine and glanced at Justin who kept quiet.

“We will know.” Was all he said and he  wrapped his arms defiantly. “You should prove it. Every Godfather is versed in martial arts and fluency of language as it includes the Seven Underground Families which include not just English speaking families but also other languages. Hope you can prove it?” He asked in a daring tone with his eyes narrowed at him.

Immediately, an image flashed through Cole’s eyes where he saw his younger self under one of the teachers who were teaching him language. No wonder his father made it mandatory that he learnt these languages.

“What part do you want me to use to  prove it?” He asked particularly.

“Martial arts.” Maxwell answered. He knew that anyone can be fluent in languages and it would be a pass if he thinks that Cole was not well prepared for him.

Justin snickered and said, “You are not going to test the Godfather. And more so he has not fully gained his memories. It would take time for him to be able to…”

“I will do it.” Cole cut in and Justin turned his head to look at him in shock. Maxwell arched a brow at his confidence and smirked.

Justin sighed, knowing that Maxwell was not going to believe it if Cole did not prove it. And Maxwell stands as a climbing block as he was in the same rich circle as him but he has the bigger mouth of persuading them.

After some time, Maxwell was able to get a ring to have the combat. Cole rode in Justin’s car with Maxwell mocking him that he did not own a car. Cole made a point to get a new car with the money Justin had gifted him with.

They soon reached there and they got down. They were welcomed with some of the agile looking men there and they both changed into their combat dress which was opened newly for them.

They both shared an eye lock as they walked into the ring. This art was about boxing which they were both good in. They did it to keep their muscles in tight and steady.

Justin knew it was a bad idea to fight with the Godfather but he knew that he could not persuade Maxwell nor can he talk Cole out of it.

“There is still a chance to leave the ring, Godfather.” Maxwell advised Cole in a mocking tone but Cole was gathering his strength. He was trying to discover the place Maxwell was hiding most. Because he was once told by his teacher that people tend to protect their weakest point but him… He was going to open his weakest point and confuse his enemies.

He smiled too sweetly at Maxwell and Maxwell launched forward. Cole instantaneously moved away, Justin’s lips circled into a ‘O’ at his move.

Cole dodged every hits of Maxwell and then he thought it was time to stop dodging and defending, it was time to level up the game and attack. He began to attack Maxwell with reflexes that was impossible for an human to possess. Maxwell did his best to dodge the ones he could and he received few of the ones he was too late to dodge.

He slowly began to realize that he was getting weak and it was too late to admit his defeat. With a last blow that Cole was about to land on Maxwell, Justin cringed at the impact of the yet coming pain while Maxwell tried to shade his face away. Cole had a second thought and his hand hung in the air.

When he did not feel anything, he opened his eyes and saw Cole smirking at him. He relaxed which was his biggest mistake because Cole landed the blow on him but with reduced force. Maxwell winced slightly and Cole shook his head and steppes out of the ring.

The fight soon ended and Maxwell had a bleeding nose while Cole was sweating profusely. Justin clapped as Cole changed back into his outfit while Maxwell stepped out of the changing room with a smile that only showed that he now acknowledged Cole as the Godfather.

Cole raised his brow at him and waited for him to speak. “Now I know that you are The Godfather.” He affirmed.

Justin laughed happily and gave an approving look to Cole who just smiled slightly at him.

“But… You can’t tell anyone that I am the Godfather. I need you to keep it a secret till whatever storms is moving around is down.” Cole warned him and Maxwell nodded.

They went back to Justin’s restaurant again and ate some good food before Maxwell left with a note of meeting with Cole again in the coming weeks while Cole was left with Justin.

As they stood in Justin’s personal office, Cole stood before the huge translucent glass and watched how the cars moved. His mind ran back to the time when he always had to run after these cars to sell goods to them so that he can have some good food on the table for him and the old man before he became a delivery man, a job he had to scrub the floor to get. Life has been hard on him and the most lesson he learnt was humility. How to be humble in everything.

Everything everyone whom he knew said to him built him to this moment. All the condescending and derogatory words they spat at him as he did his delivery job made him someone who had patience to withstand challenges today. Perhaps that was why he was not totally ecstatic about being The Godfather. Or maybe… He did not know what the Godfather was.

“So what are you planning concerning the future?” Justin asked him, Cole looked at him from the corner of his eye. He let out a deep breath and turned to him fully.

“You said there is a storm.” Cole said, more like asking him. Justin nodded his head positively. Cole moved towards Justin’s expensive desk and leaned on it with his eyes narrowed.

“Who started it?”
