CHAPTER 10

Adriana passed out from college as a medical doctor. Her father told her not to look for a job because he was going to make her the head of the largest hospital in the country with his connections.

Unfortunately for Adriana, a few months after her completion from the medical college, her father passed on. Adriana also resorted to staying home with her older sisters. The two older siblings brainwashed her that she was too big to look for a job. She joined them in squandering their father's money and maltreating ryan.

Because Mr Edwards had no one to help run the business, it took a heavy toll on him. His health began to deteriorate gradually and after some years he passed on.

The Wilson family took advantage of Mr Edward's demise to overtake the Williams family to become the richest family in the country within a year.

Surprisingly, the Wilson dropped to the sixth richest family

When Mrs Williams saw that the family business was down, she persuaded Alicia to learn and take control of her father's business to avoid it from collapsing.

Alicia was introduced to her father's business by Mr Edward's personal assistant.

He taught her how to handle all the businesses her father left behind.

That gradually brought back the family business on its feet again.

Although they were doing just fine, sadly, they were no match for the Wilson family.

That made them their deepest rivals.

Alicia tried all her best with her little knowledge to make the business stable

Nevertheless she couldn't get it to compete with the Wilson family.

“ Well mom you know that's true but Alicia should be allowed to make her own choices regardless of her age ” .

Alicia replied.

Mrs Williams did not respond. She just kept quiet and adjusted her sitting position.

The nurse who came in earlier came in again this time with a file in her hands.

“ Sorry to interrupt, but visiting time is over and we have to check your mother and give her her medicine. ”

The nurse said.

The three ladies bid Mrs Williams goodbye and turned to leave.

“ Let's go to the financial department, I need to make payments for the drugs and the ward. The nurse said I should make the payment today”. Alicia said to her siblings.

Geraldine opted to go with Alicia to the department but Adriana told them she would be waiting for them in the car.

The two ladies went to the department to pay the bills while Adriana went to the garage.

Adriana went to stand by her car in the garage and began thinking on what transpired between herself, her mother and her two siblings back in the ward.

“ Why would mom despise me from marrying the man I want just because he is an enemy? Is he really an enemy? Their family are just richer than our and that is all. They are just into the same business as our family. I thought my mum was supposed to be on my side so why is she admonishing me now?. ”

She stood there deep in thoughts forgetting about her environment.

Now she began thinking of her late father

“ Why on earth did dad get Ryan to be part of this family? Why did he say I should marry only when I get to thirty-five years? Is there any secret in this? Maybe my mom knows about this secret. Maybe I should ask her to tell me the full truth about this whole issue”

She stood there deep in thoughts and didn't notice Alicia and Geraldine coming towards her.

When Alicia and Geraldine got to her side, they asked her to start the car so they go.

Adriana stood there absentmindedly staring into the empty space.

Geraldine noticed Adriana didn't respond to them nor moved. She went closer to her and called her name but she didn't respond, she just kept staring at nothing.

Geraldine gently tapped her shoulder and she came to her senses immediately. She uncounciously shook a little and screamed in freight.

Alicia saw what happened and went closer to her to ask what's wrong.

“ Nothing ” she just replied, got into the car and started the engine.

Alicia and Geraldine stood for some seconds staring at each other.

Eventually Alicia shrugged and they both went to squeeze themselves on the passenger side of the car .

Although the Lamborghini Aventador had seats for only two people with the driver's inclusive, the three siblings always squeezed themselves into the two seats.

The reason being that the car was new and and they enjoyed being in the car.

The two siblings joined Adriana in the car.

She reversed the car and drove through the gates out of the hospital. But as soon as she got to the road, she stopped the car and got out.

“ One of you should drive, I can't drive”. She simply said and went to the passenger side of the car.

Adriana and Geraldine both gave her a questioning look. They then looked at each other again.

Alicia moved to the driver's seat and Adriana joined Geraldine in the passenger seat.

Alicia drove the car all the way home.

There was silence in the car as they were on the way.

Everyone of them had her own thoughts and nobody spoke to each through the entire journey back home.

After about three hours of working Ryan was finally able to get the house clean .

He prepared lunch just in case the Williams sisters came back home.

After cooking his wind wandered back to Mrs Williams. He thought about how she behaved towards him back in the hospital.

He always knew her to be a mean and harsh person; at least to him.

But he still could not understand why the woman was suddenly being so nice to him.

He was thinking about what she was going to tell her children that did not require his presence.

“ Maybe she was going to tell them to stop maltreating me, or maybe she would tell them to be more harsh”

He sighed and shrugged

Ryan woke up on his bed. He took his phone to see the message from his bank and another from his driver “on my way”

He put down the phone and smiled.

Now, at long last, he was a rich man. A millionaire he had always dreamt of becoming.

He stood up from his bed and went to the washroom to shower.

Minutes later he emerged from the washroom and quickly dressed up.

He hurried downstairs to the living room and saw Adriana sitting on the couch with a glass of wine in her hand. He walked past her without greeting.

When he got to the gate he heard Adrian asking him if where he was going but he ignored and acted as if he did not hear her.

He came out of the room an onto the compound and brought out his phone.

He woke the screen and a message popped up “ arrived sir”

He put the phone back into his pocket and git out of the compound.

He opened the door of the cab and got in and the driver drove off
