CHÀPTER 9

Mrs Williams paused for a minute and silence engulfed the room.

Footsteps could be heard approaching the ward. Mrs Williams heaved and was about to speak when a knock came on the door. A nurse entered after they asked her to come in.

She asked to see one of them outside and Alicia followed her out. After they got out Mrs Williams continued her interrogation.

“ Now answer me Adriana, who is this man in question?. ”

“ He is the son of the multimillionaire business Mogul Mr Andrews Wilson.” Adriana said.

Mrs Williams opened her mouth in shock.

She adjusted her sitting position and.

At that moment Alicia entered.

She noticed the look on her mother's face

She looked at Adriana and then Geraldine, the look on her face carried a question ‘ what's wrong’.

Mrs Williams ignored her and asked Adriana

“ How did you come across him? Don't you know the Wilson family are our deepest rivals? How listen to me Adriana. That your relationship with him will never hold on to grounds; firstly you are disobeying your father and secondly you are not supposed to associate yourself with the Wilson family” the woman explained.

Alicia realising what was going on quickly interfered before Adriana could speak.

“ No mom,you know Adriana has the right to make her own choices, and Ryan is not a choice. How on earth is she to wait till she's thirty-five years before she can have a boyfriend? Dad who said this is dead and we can't continue to hold in to that.

Besides you can't hate someone or a family simply because they are into the same business as our family, or because our father hated them. Please try to understand ”

Alicia said trying to sound as polite as she could to prevent her mother from getting angry.

Mrs Williams shook her head

“ Your father asked to read his will and share his property after two years and you are still holding in to that. Why then have you made up your mind to let go the other set of his wish? Why do you question some of his words and agree to some of them. Now you are talking about hate, what has Ryan done to you to deserve all the things you are doing to him and all the hate you give him? You inherited it right? Now then why do you like this man for no reason and hate Ryan for no reason as well? ”.

Mrs Williams paused and looked at Alicia. Her head was bowed. Mrs Williams was wondering if she would answer her question . Of course she didn't expect an answer .

Alicia's head was bowed. She knew all what her mother said was true. She had agreed to wait for the duration their father gave them in order for his will to be read and his property to be shared. She also hated Ryan for no reason she could tell; maybe bacause she was a contract husband for her sister.

Now she began thinking of something to say to justify her acts and words.

She had wanted to explain herself to her mother but she found no tangible explanation, there she just kept mute.

The Williams family were a very wealthy family. Mr Edward put in his very best to make his business a successful one. He was in the hospitality industry. He owned the most expensive and world class five star hotel in the country ‘ EDWILLS HOTELS’ . After some years of being in business and doing well for himself he ventured into the energy sector.

He built many gas stations and expanded his businesses internationally. He made sure the business became a huge family business. He eventually made it to the top with his family being ranked the richest in the whole country.

However, as luck and fate may have it, he had a rival family who were doing as great as his family was. The Wilson family.

The Wilson family were also in the hospitality and energy industry. They also had many hotels and gas stations. Although they were the second richest family, they were striving harder and further to beat the Williams family.

They were a close mark to the Williams family. Mr Andrews Wilson, strived very hard to overtake Mr Williams.

Although he was alive and healthy, his son had taken over from him and was doing most of the work.

Jeffrey Wilson, the son of Mr Andrews Wilson was a successful business and a replica of his father. He trained in the business field just like his father and had been good in managing his father's assets and property. Although his father was still alive, he was the one in charge of all the family's business. He had begun training his younger siblings for them to also join him in business.

On the other hand, Mr Edward Williams had no male child. He had three girls with his wife. The three ladies all grew up with their different mindsets and passions.

None of them wanted to venture into business or take from their father. Mr Edwards tried all he could to make them see the importance of the family's business but to no avail.

Alicia the firstborn wanted nothing for herself except being a make-up artist. Her father had vowed that only over his dead body would his daughter become a ‘ common ’ makeup artist. Hence Alicia stayed at home doing nothing. She just ate, partied and slept.

Geraldine wanted to become a hairdresser.

Her father did not approve of her choice too and after many ups and downs, she joined Alicia in the house.

Adriana wanted to become a medical doctor. Her decision pleased her father and made him love her more than her sisters.

Although Mr Williams had wished Adriana would have joined him in business, he had no option than to accept her decision as he termed it a good one.

Mr Edward enrolled Adriana in a medical college and she successfully passed out as a medical doctor.
