Chapter 1: Locked Out.

Carl returns home late in the evening, looking so tired and weary as the day draws to a close. When he arrived at the house, he noticed that the gate was locked.

He got to the gate, "Hey Galo, I'm back home, please open the gate," he said to let the gatekeeper know as he kept knocking on the gate.

BANG! BANG!! He knocked, but the wind didn't press through. No matter how hard he knocked, no one came out to answer him, even though the gatekeeper had the pleasure of locking him out by order of Madam Vincenta, his wicked mother-in-law.

He was sure that his wife was inside, but would she allow him, her husband, to be locked out of her home?

He stood outside like a beggar seeking for help. He could see the bright light that surrounded the large Chavez mansion, illuminating the entire place.

Most surprisingly, he saw a group of bodyguards surrounding about four black Bentley Bentayga and all had their spotless glasses on and dressed uniformly on black suits. The black convoys were arranged close to the pillars of the mansion and the bodyguards stood, looking like bold statues with no slightest movement.

"Who are these guys? Kind of some big party going on inside the mansion," he thought with a look of surprise.

Those bodyguards were actually not far from the gate, but did they not hear him knocking? They did not even glance at him even for once.

They are definitely not the guards of the mansion. He did not recognize the convoy to belong to any of his in-laws.

He was so confused at the moment.

"Where did Galo go?" He kept mumbling, keeping his gaze everywhere in the residence and the transparent long window on the wall of the mansion.

He could see some happy moments and he could hear the clinking sounds of glass cups colliding with others and voices cheering inside happily.

"What are they celebrating? I don't remember there being a party in the few minutes I was in the house this morning," he mutters, surprised at the exquisite party going on in the mansion.

Carl looked at his leather watch again, it was already 11pm.

He didn't notice there were other new cars packed inside the residence until he suddenly caught a glimpse of them and his eyes widened in amazement, "There must be a lot of visitors inside the mansion," he thought.

Carl was afraid of only one thing. Not wanting his poor old dad to find out what he has been going through after getting married into the wealthy family.

His dad never knew what his beloved son has been facing. Carl always lied to him that he is doing well with his wife's family.

Carl was heartbroken that he was always undervalued and treated this way. Even the dogs in the house were treated better than him.

His wife. Didn't she wants to see her husband back home? Has she even thought of calling him to find out where he is?

**

Carl slide his hands through his pocket to get his phone. He quickly dialed his wife's phone number. Minutes passed but she did not pick his call.

He became worried.

"Why is Camila not answering my calls?" He asked himself, looking stressed out already while walking back and forth the gate, still dialing his wife number over and over again.

Still, she did not answer the call.

It was very unlikely because he knows his wife hardly took her eyes off her phone. At this time her thumbs would be on her touch screen, either chatting or taking selfies.

It has already reached eight times he dials her phone line and the next minute he tries to contact her phone line again, her phone was completely turned off.

Carl rolled his eyes up and down.

What a life. What did I do wrong this time?

It was quite obvious that she had deliberately turned her phone off. Carl became upset and seriously annoyed. He had just returned from an errand his father-in-law sent him since in the morning. Tightly, he held his collar, squeezing his lower lip inside his mouth and between his teeth. He pulled his tongue out a little and wagged it while expressing a strong aura of discomfort on his face.

The pop music playing in the house was so loud that it could have caused everyone in the house not to hear the loud knocks on the gate, since it also caused the gate to bang.

But still, Carl did not relent. He decided to knock on the gate again and this time even harder,  and that was when the gatekeeper, Galo, suddenly burst out of his dwelling and walked to the gate, but angrily.

"Great! He is here! Whew," Carl heaved with both hands on his chest.

He grins softly but unfortunately, he got a shock from the gatekeeper instead.

"Hey idiot, didn't your vision tells you that there is a party going on inside the mansion? Who the hell do you think you are banging on the gate like that?..

If you make a single crack on it, do you have the money to repair it or to buy a new gate, huh?" Galo yelled at Carl, not caring about his status as the son-in-law of his bosses.

Carl was startled. His whole body froze in surprise.

"So you heard me knocking on the gate and you held still? Did you not know it is night already and I'll be returning home? Why didn't you open the gate for me?" Indignantly, he said, clenching his fist in anger. His eyebrows furrowed and his eyes stares deep into Galo's disgusting gaze.

"And why should I care about that?!" Galo rudely replied.

"Do you want to lose your job?" Carl spat angrily.

Galo burst out with an irritating laughter.  He laughed hysterically for a while before he calmed down..

"And who is going to make me to lose my job? You?" He said and smirked at him.

"Listen Carl " he said with disgust on his face.

“Maybe you don't know it, but nobody cares about you in that family because you're nothing but a poor gold digger.

I guess you did not know that there was going to be a party. Ha! Of course, you would never he invited because you're a loser! " He mocks.
