Fristborn and Cara followed the man who had introduced himself as Ben as he combed through the woods. He was their only chance of helping Alastair and the fact that he has Alastair's face was something Cara could not comprehend. Were they brothers? Alastair never spoke of having a brother. Was it just a resemblance? They couldn't tell. They just had to get Alastair first and then perhaps other things will follow."Come on, we need to be quick about this," Ben whispered and took a turn, going left. A large owl flew past him, startling him for a moment and making him curse. He shot a quick glance at Cara and Fristborn who kept observing him like he was some thief. Ben scoffed."I do not appreciate those eyes. Why don't we change the expression?" He asked them"We did not do anything wrong. Or is it a crime to look?" Cara asked him."You, young lady are very rude. You must work on that tongue of yours. Do you not wish to find a husband someday?" Ben asked. Cara was about to reply when F
It was...him. Alastair gazed at the man who was a striking replica of him and wondered if his eyes were deceiving him. The man stood on the spot and kept on grinning, something which the Werewolves found very offensive. The leader of the Werewolves stepped forward and even from his walks, you could see spite and anger all over him."You, bloody thief. I was wondering why you-him was so different. He isn't a worm like you are. He is much more headstrong. Where is the egg?" The man asked but Alastair's doppelganger feigned deafness."I can't hear you clearly. Could you walk closer? That would be much appreciated." He yelled. The Werewolf scoffed at his audacity."Where is my fucking egg?" He yelled but the other man nodded."Oh, that? I'm sorry but I used it. It did not give me the desired results though. Are you sure it was original? It did not seem like it was." The doppelganger added and that made the Werewolves growl."But you can let him go now. He is not a part of our fight. Truth
Ben led the way and maintained his usual high spirit as they trudged through the woods. They could still hear the howling of the werewolves from the distance but Alastair was quite certain the Werewolves would not find them, at least not yet. He was using a spell to mask their smell from the Werewolves. He knew about their extremely good sense of smell. Perhaps that could buy them some time."Tell me more about your mother and her illness," Alastair said to Ben while he glanced over his shoulder to make sure that Cara and Fristborn were still there. Cara would be the death of him."Well, she has the Hunter's disease. Have you ever heard of it?" Ben asked Alastair who shook his head. Ben was surprised Alastair said no. He was expecting a yes from someone who seemed to be at the peak of knowledge."Some say it is a curse from the gods. You suddenly begin to develop sores that will not heal. It brings excruciating pain and I almost feel like dying whenever I see my mother in such pain."
"Werewolves, they've found us!"Cara said as she dashed through the door. She was almost breathless and Alastair could hear the growls of the Werewolves already. He had expected them to catch up eventually but not that fast. How were they able to elude his spell? "Go, get Fristborn. We are leaving this place immediately." Alastair said to Cara who turned around to go get him, but suddenly, the main door crashed down and Werewolves jumped inside. Cara screamed as they did, causing Alastair to quickly pull her away from harm's way and shoot a telekinetic blast at the Werewolf closest to Fristborn. The Werewolf slammed against the wall but another quickly came inside.By that time, Fristborn had joined them in the room and Alastair closed the door. More and more Werewolves hurled in and began to bang on the door. They banged with all their might and with everything they had. Alastair placed a magic shield on the door to buy them some time."Is there any other way out?" Alastair asked B
"No..." Cara whispered defeated as the Werewolves dragged Fristborn into the darkness. In the second that followed, it was like nothing of such had happened recently. The forest was as calm and as still as undisturbed water and the wave of calmness swept across every part of it.Cara staggered back and looked at Alastair who had a surprised look on his face as well. He had not predicted that. He did not think the Werewolves could easily grab Fristborn in that manner, the more reason for him to protect Cara diligently."We need to go follow them immediately. We must get him back. We need to..." Cara said hysterically and was about to stroll off when Alastair held her hand and restrained her.She gazed at his hand in shock like she was not expecting him to do something like that. Her eyes slowly trailed up to his face and she looked at the Stern man staring down at her."What are you doing, Alastair? Let me go. I need to go back for him." She said to him and tried pulling her hand away
Cara dashed through the woods as quickly as she could. The still forest around her now presented itself as a warm breeze that brushed against her skin as she ran. She glanced back at repeated intervals, making sure that Alastair was not following her. She knew he had his problems to deal with. She had just witnessed that, in fact. She was not sure she could trust his judgment at that time. She scoffed when she remembered him saying she was letting her emotions cloud her judgment. That was exactly what he was doing. Although he did not want to admit it, Alastair desired more time with his mother. He had just learned of her existence and she was dying as well with no hope of a healer in sight.Cara saw through the facade Alastair was trying to create. He was hurting inside and not that he cared that much about Fristborn before then. All that Alastair saw when he looked at Fristborn was a distraction for her. He could not even care if he was to die.Die...The thought resonated through h
Growls...Those were the things Cara heard as she began to wake up. She groaned slowly as she dragged her legs on the ground, them being obstructed by the large chains wrapped around them. Her head was banging. It was a headache unlike what she has ever felt before. How long was she asleep? She could not tell. But as she managed to drag herself onto the ground, she realized that it was not just her legs that were bound by chains. Her hands were bound also. She tried to get her hands out of the chains but she could not. They were fastened tightly to her limbs and she was completely at their mercy. She remembered what she had done with Alastair. She used powers to break his chubs right? Maybe she could do the same thing for herself. She closed her eyes and focused as much as she could. There was pressure building up in her body, her Magic surging like a wave within her. She maintained her focus as the wave began to spread. But then, it stopped. Cara's eyes jerked open as her Magic fad
The man froze on the spot. He tried to move but he could not. He could feel his bones stretching and his muscles contracting by themselves. He could hear voices in his head, voices that were not his own. The Werewolf tried to move again but that time, the magic that fixed him to the spot was getting even stronger in his mind. It was getting even more powerful. He felt his hand raising by itself and tried to fight back when the hand was making its way to his neck. When the other Werewolves saw this, they tried to dash toward him to help him, but a telekinetic force escaped cara's Body and slammed into them, sending them crashing to the ground with full force.Cara's eyes were closed even before now, but then, she opened her eyes and the fire in them scared the Werewolf. The man growled at Cara as she walked closer to the bar. The chains were still in her hands but they were not doing anything. So when they fell off like old woods from her hands, the man was shocked even further. The m
