CHAPTER 55

Russell was walking down a desolate street, unable to think about anything in particular. The questions like ‘what am I doing with my life,’ and ‘where will the rooftop incident take him’ kept drifting through his mind.

Every second melted slowly as thoughts sparked through his restless mind. The times when he told Natasha he will love her even in death came to his mind. It made him feel silly, sad, and stupid.

He looked like a walking statue, one carrying a lot of burdens inside but showing none on the face at the moment. Even though walking felt tiring, he didn’t stop. He was planning to walk to the other end of the city to where his mom lived, so he could stay with her. He had already met her that morning, but he couldn’t stay with her for long. Now, an opportunity arose.

“Instead of staying with the Pennell family, I’ll use this time to take care of my mom. It’s been a while since I spent a whole day with her. Tomorrow, I’m going to make a lot of memories with her.”
