At the Cemetery

Ryan walked down the narrow path that lead to his parents, a sad smile on his face. The place is silent as usual, only a few people here and there, so he can talk to his parents as much as he wants without anyone eavesdropping.

Just like the 21st of everyday, he had snuck out of the house to come here.

Ryan stood in front of his parent's tomb, the designed tiles very neat, little colourful flowers grew around tomb.

It's been three years now, three years since they were laid to rest and was made an orphan in the blink of an eye.

Ryan set a bouquet chrysanthemum flower on his mother's grave and a bouquet of lily flowers on his father's. Both of them were buried side by side, not surviving an intended accident where only he manage to survive from, unscathed.

He knew his parents death weren't exactly an accident, he could still remember the look on his mother's face as she gripped his arms three years ago, a small smile playing at her lips when she saw the blood on his body wasn't his.

He remembered how she made him promise her not to find the cause of their death or avenge them, not until he was really capable. She made him promise her he would keep a low profile and avoid contact with the family at all cost. Even on her death bed, she knew they were murdered and yet she made him make that promise to her! He had ran away then, away from the scene. He waited enough to see where they were buried before he completely went into hiding, changing his identity in the process.

He's had just about waited long enough. He's lived for three years carrying enough guilt in his heart, now he's going to hunt down every single one of them that had a hand in his parents death and kill them. Let them have a taste of their medicine too.

"I'll avenge your deaths.," He promised them softly, the determination and resolve on his face unbending.

Just as he made to leave the cemetery, he heard a voice and paused with a frown, glancing around.

  "Help!" The voice came again.

He snapped his head towards where he's sure the voice is coming from. He moved east wards, about thirty feet from where he stood, he saw a girl, the owner of the voice.

"Help." She called again.

Ryan noticed she has someone's head on her laps, from his guess, the person either fainted or collapsed.

He turned on his heels and wanted to leave, he had more pressing matters to attend to. Out of nowhere, the voice of his master where he had learn all about traditional medicine the past years, played in his mind. "The job of a doctor is to save as many lives as possible."

"Damn you old man, you just have to be everywhere." Ryan cursed under his breath, spurning on his heels and walking towards the girl.

Ryan hastened his walks and got to them quickly.

"Please help." The girl yelled as she saw Ryan walking towards her. He seemed to be the only one in the quiet cemetery nearest to her. "Please help me save him. He can't die now!" She cried.

"What happened?" He asked, accessing the situation quickly.

He unhooked his buttons and rolled up his sleeves.

"It's my grandfather, we came to visit my grandmother's grave," the girl cried, "he suddenly started gasping for breath then collapsed."

"Heart attack." Ryan muttered, dropping to his knees.

  "Sorry?"

"He's had an heart attack. Can you move few feet away?"

"Why? Please can you help him? Are you a Doctor?"

"If I can't, I won't be on my knees trying to save him." Ryan snapped, a bit irritated by her questions.

"Please don't let him die!! You have to save him at all costs."

Ryan shakes his head and ignored her, saving him at all cost? He's going to do his best, it's up the the man to fight for his life and come back to life, loosening the first two buttons on the old man's body, he clasped his hands down and performed CPR on him.

Ryan glanced at the girl and saw her crouched, a worried expression on her face, her eyes glassy as she watched him.

  "What are you doing?!"

The girl stared at him, confusedly, "nothing?"

Ryan stares at her blankly, distaste and annoyance obvious on his face.

"Am I supposed to do something?" The girl asks, "anything, please tell me."

"Shouldn't you call 911 and ask them to come over?"

"Oh," the girl muttered, "I called them the instant he fell but they said they are half an hour away that's why I screamed for help."

Ryan shook his head and continues performing the CPR, blowing air into his mouth.m whilst doing some massage on his acupuncture points.

The old man suddenly stirred, spluttered out a cough.

"Grannie!" The girl yelped, hugging the man, "you gave me quite a scare."

Ryan took few steps backwards, allowing the medics that had just arrived to do their work.

The girl noticed Ryan walking away and ran to stop him.

"Heyy." She half yelled, tapping him.

Ryan paused and turned to face her, raising an eyebrow at her, ",Yeah?"

"Umm... I just want to thank you for what you did back there."

  "Okay?"

"For saving my grandfather. He's my favorite and I don't hope for him to die now. So I really appreciate reviving him." She beamed.

"Okay." Ryan said non challantly and made to leave.

"Sorry.... Please can I have your number?" The girl asks, stopping him in his tracks.

  "No.." He said coldly.

She points at a secluded place that looks like a garden, where she is sure Ryan came out from.

  "Is that yours? Who's there?"

Ryan glares at her, not replying and left.

Eleanor watched his retreating figure, an undefined look in her eyes. When she is sure he left, she goes to the tomb, takes a picture of both and place a call to someone.

"Find out everything you can about the pictures I just sent to you." She says calmly and authoritatively into the phone.

Ryan fumes inwardly as he walked out. Don't keep know how to keep to themselves and stay out of other people's businesses. He has made sure his parents are secluded and farther from others, thru deserved that honor at least.

The instant Ryan reached the entrance of the cemetery, his phone rang.

He took it out and checked the caller's ID, it was his wife, Alina.

"Hey." Ryan breathes into the phone, walking to the bus stop to wait for a bus.

"Where are you?" Alina asks bluntly.

  "At a bus stop, why?"

"I received a call now that grandma Joan is sick and in the hospital."

"Oh okay? How is she now?"

"I just told you she is in the hospital now!!" Alina yelled, "Your presence is needed at the hospital instantly."

"What's the name of the hospital?"

"Are you seriously asking me that? Which hospital would she go if It isn't our family hospital?"

"okay, sorry. Isn't anyone with her?"

"I am stuck in the traffic, you should go and attend to her needs!"
