CHAPTER 1

Marco was in a deep sleep when Elsie, his mother-in-law yelled at his ears, waking him up.

"It's already 4 am in the morning and you should started washing the clothes of your entire family!" she thrown her clothes on his face. "Go ahead and wash my clothes first, you stupid jerk!"

Elsie was so mean to Marco ever since he became a husband of Shiela. He and his wife had no other choice but to endure the harsh words of his mother-in-law as they could not afford to rent their own house. It has been three years since they lived in this house whom he considered a hell. His forehead knitted in anger as he could not bear the irrational behaviour of Elsie and for the very first time, he bravely fight back.

"Mom, please do not yell or throw your clothes at me. I am your son-in-law and not a servant of this house. I felt so embarrass being treated this way!"

Elsie just turned a deaf ear and slapped his face. "Don't you dare talk to me like that, I am the most respected person in this house and I am the one supporting this family so I have the right to treat you however I like! Go ahead and wash them, otherwise you won't be eating anything for today. Piece of shit!"

Elsie was not contented and slapped his head again. Being numb that he is, Marco took a frustrated breath and dared her to repeat slapping his face. "Your hand is too weak to slap my thick face, mother-in-law! Come on, hit me with everything you've got, I am a trash, right?"

His determined eyes and firmed voice have turned Elsie muted for a second, she could not realize that he would have that courage to fight back. At the back of his mind, he knew that he wanted to say more. He was working hard to provide to contribute to their family but they seemed to disregards his efforts, especially Elsie and his wife whom he never had a sex with. He was obviously like a trash in this chaotic house full of bullies.

Elsie finally broke her silence after few minutes of silence. "If you're not a trash, then what are you? Even when you tried to speak more viciously, you cannot change the way I treated you! If you can no longer withstand living a life like this, then kill yourself!"

Marco bowed his head and clenched his fist in anger. He wanted to fight back but he did not see it was going to change anything.

"What the hell is happening here? Why are you talking like you are far away from each other?"

Marco shuddered and looked up. He saw his gorgeous wife standing beside the door with her hands crossed over her chest. "Shiela, your lunatic mother yelled at me and threw her clothes!"

"Why did you do that, Mom? Marco is my husband and he has dignity too!"

Elsie turned around to face her daughter and gave her a disapproving frown. "What the f*ck are you saying? Dignity is something that your ugly husband does not have. You should know that better than me!" She returned her gaze at Marco. "I wish you have a shred of dignity inside you so you won't stain the reputation of my family!"

Shiela looked at Marco disappointed. She was trying to defend him but his actions speaks louder than words. At the back of her mind, she wanted to say that he was a trash and there is nothing he could do to change that.

"Why are you here?" Elsie asked.

"Mom, prepare yourself. Dad has already packed up and is waiting for us!"

Elsie dragged her feet to Shiela and mumbled. "Oh deer, I would really like to avoid your father. Is there a way to keep myself away from him? That man is freak, fat, and old!"

Marco pretended to fix his bed to eavesdrop to their conversation.

Shiela blinked twice and let out a deep sigh before speaking to her mom. "This is the only way to save the family!"

Elsie tilted her lips. "Your two siblings are much prettier than you. Besides, you're secretly married now! If others now about it, you will definitely become the topic of the town and be subjected to mockery. Your reputation would be tarnished as well. What would you do now?"

Shiela's face was saddened with what she heard. "Maybe this is my fate. I am nobody in the family, and nobody would care about my willingness."

Elsie glared at Marco once again. "I should never let you marry this trash back then. I regret saving him when I found him unconscious in the middle of the road. Not only did he forget about his name or his true identity, he was also an ugly man with no purpose in life. If I had a chance to turn back time, I would let you marry a powerful man who will make our family rich. Now, we're trapped with this situation and there is no way to turn things back to the way it used to be!"

Shiela who locked her eyes at Marco frowned and Elsie could see how she regretted marrying him. "I was too blinded by his eyes, but I no longer find it so attractive. Still, I don't like cutting him out. Hence, granda hasn't decided yet. Maybe there is a chance!"

Elsie became energetic all of a sudden. "Is that so?"

"Perhaps?" Shiela was unsure.

They were far from Marco and they though he was not hearing their whispering. He felt like it was the worst backstabbing he has received in his two years of staying in the home he called a hell. He wanted to tell to his wife that he is not a trash like his mother-in-law claimed and that some memory he has regained says otherwise. But it was still unclear and he was having a hard time to figure out if this is really a memory or an imagination from a dream.
