Chapter 3 : This Is the Day

Three days quickly passed, with no one to help him, Raphael prepared himself alone in his cramped and cold room.

Luckily during these three days Simon didn't bother him and let him live his day in peace. Even so, Raphael was increasingly worried about what Simon and his gang were doing.

Raphael started to have some wild thoughts, “Are they really planning to kill me in the Dungeon? No way right? Mister Richard said not to cause trouble in the Dungeon, of course they wouldn't do that to me right?” Many questions arose in Raphael's mind, he tried to think positively and refused to believe Simon's previous words.

During these three days, Raphael's feelings never calmed down, instead he felt constantly anxious, how could he not go into a dangerous Dungeon today to do a test, he could die anytime in there, not to mention the problem with Simon who kept continues.

With a deep sigh, Raphael got up from his place and took his backpack that was next to him, then decided to leave his room, "This is not the time to whine, I have to get up for my future!" Raphael said trying to encourage himself.

. . .

In front of the orphanage, Simon and his eight friends had gathered together with Mr. Richard as their guide. Raphael also silently stood not far from their group waiting for their departure for the dungeon that would be tested on them today.

"Finally you came too, Raphael," said Richard when he realized Raphael's presence there, because they were only waiting for Raphael's arrival at this time.

"I'm sorry I'm late, Master Richard." Raphael said while lowering his head, feeling guilty for coming late this time. It seemed Raphael had been thinking too long in his room that he was late like now.

Not long after, from a distance came the sound of hooves, Raphael also felt that at this time he could no longer avoid this decision because the examiners from the Capital City of Crimson Town were already here, preparing to take them to the Dungeon that would be the test site. they.

"You guys will be leaving with them, watch your manners and don't cause trouble for the orphanage, you understand?" Richard said while glaring at all the youths who would be participating in the Dungeon's trials.

Raphael solemnly nodded his head, he would definitely remember this advice from Mr. Richard. However, Raphael could see that Simon and his friends only replied to Richard's words indifferently, as if they didn't care what their mentor had to say.

Seeing that, Raphael began to feel that Simon had other intentions by participating in this Dungeon trial. "It's impossible for Simon to take part in this trial just to hurt me, surely he has other intentions," thought Raphael trying to comfort himself who was already scared, still thinking that Simon would definitely not kill him when they arrived at the Dungeon later.

Three horse-drawn carriages stopped in front of the orphanage, two well-built men got out of one of the horse-drawn carriages, walking straight towards Richard. Raphael could see that Master Richard was having a serious conversation with the two people who had just stepped out of the horse carriage.

But unfortunately Raphael couldn't hear what they were talking about, even though Raphael was very curious about their conversation. Before entering the Dungeon that would be their testing ground, Raphael thought that it would be very beneficial if he could find out what the conditions were like inside the Dungeon.

As Raphael focused on looking at Richard and the two strangers who had just arrived, he didn't notice that Simon and his friends were walking towards him with a grin on their face.

“Are you ready to enter the Dungeon today, Raphael?” Simon asked while patting Raphael's shoulder slowly, unusually.

Raphael took a step back when he felt someone touching him and his body stiffened immediately when he realized that it was Simon, “Ah, yes. I-I'm ready, Simon." Raphael answered Simon's question with a stutter, not expecting Simon to approach him without violence like this time.

“Very well then, see you later in the Dungeon.” After saying that, Simon asked his friends to leave Raphael and return to their initial position.

To be honest, Raphael was shocked by what had just happened, was it true that Simon had treated him well? Without the slightest bit of violence? Without even a single mockery or insult to him?

It felt like Raphael wanted to punch himself in the face right now to prove whether he was dreaming today. However, Raphael couldn't do that when he saw that Richard had returned to them with the two strangers who had just arrived.

“From now on, the ten of you will follow Master Alex as well as Master John to head to the Dungeon you will clear and decide whether you can pass or not.” Richard started to explain who the two strangers were to Raphael and the others.

After that Raphael and the others were directed to get into two empty carriages. And they started their journey to the open Dungeon locations around the Crimson Town area.

. . .

The carriage that Raphael and his four other friends were riding in finally stopped after thirty minutes of walking. Raphael was the last to get off the carriage, when he came out he could see that they were currently in the middle of a forest that didn't have much light.

It is difficult for sunlight to penetrate the thick trees in this forest, making the lighting around this forest very bad. Raphael could feel the tense atmosphere from around this forest, he started to follow in the footsteps of his friends who had gathered in front of Mr. Alex and John.

"You see the portal with the blue vortex ahead, that's the Dungeon you will enter and must complete so you can pass this test." Alex, a black-haired man with a matching robe, began to explain what the ten youths in front of him would do.

"The name I call later, quickly enter the portal." This time it was John who said while taking out a parchment from under his black robe.

Instantly Raphael's heart beat fast as one by one his other friends began to be called by John, until finally he heard his name being called, which indicated that this was the time for him to enter that terrifying Dungeon.
