CHAPTER 9

Mr. Gonzales has left the room as if he does not care about what the doctor is planning on Marco. But his conscience was saying not to harm his patience. Unknown to Mr. Gonzales, the father of his patience had saved his life once and to return the favor, he wanted to make sure to spare the life of his son.

He laid Marco's unconscious body on the bed. He patiently waited until Marco woke up three hours later.

"What is going on?" asked Marco. He seems to forget that he just passed out earlier.

The doctor sat on the chair next to the bed and looked Marco in the eyes. "Listen to me, you tried to force yourself to remember your past. That is not necessary for you to do, let us wait for the miracle to happen!"

"I can't seem to understand... why I have no family left? Only if they were here, I could have easily remembered everything about myself. Please doctor, I have a feeling that something is fishy here and I would really appreciate it if you tell me the whole truth!"

"Pardon me Marco, but there is nothing more to it aside from what you heard earlier. As of now, all I can recommend is for you to take it easy!"

Marco was stubborn and views things differently. "It's easier for you to say that 'coz you're not in my situation. What if I have family waiting for me? What if they have been searching for me from the time I got into an accident? Something's not adding up and I am not convinced that I am alone!"

The doctor was aware that Mr. Gonzales has access to all the cameras inside the room of Marco and there is a high possibility that they are being monitored by his people so he needs to be very careful what to say, otherwise it will cause him his life!

"No, you've got the wrong idea Marco. I have been a doctor for almost two decades and I grieve for every patience coming inside this hospital. I may not show this on my face, but deep inside I am hurting. As a doctor, my duty should always come first, and I have to save my tears for later!"

"I want to get out of here, I feel like I have wasted more time lying on the bed without doing something. I need to find the answers for all of my questions and I won't get anything if I will be staying here any longer!"

"Before you go, I highly suggest that I examined your head first. That will help me understand what is the status of your fracture!"

"Didn't you say that it will take more than a year before I can regain my memory back? Now, you are asking me a favor? I don't believe a word you are saying doctor, please let me stay out of this chaotic hospital. You might be influenced by that old man to trick my memory or he probably was the one who hit me so hard that I lost my memory!"

"That's a serious accusation, Marco. Please refrain from saying such things, especially to someone who saved your life!" the doctor said, trying to sound nice and calm.

"Of course, you're expected to defend the one who has given you this job. Without him, you're probably not here. Whatever the reason is, I've got a feeling that the longer I stayed here, the more I'll be in trouble!"

Without hesitation, he stood up on his feet, brought the clothes that Mr. Gonzales bought for him and exited the hospital while the doctor was just staring at him. Along the way, Marco got into another car accident again and that was the time where Elsie found him. Fortunately, he only got a minor damage on his body and so, she just brought him to her house out of kindness and compassion.

When Marco woke up, he saw Sheila sitting next to his bed. She was staring at him but the moment he woke up, she turned her head to somewhere else, trying not to get caught by his eyes.

"Hey beautiful gir, who are you?" asked Marco. "And how long have you been staring at me?"

Sheila's face turned red and yet she still doesn't look him in the eyes. "You've got my mom worried. We've been trying to help find any of your family but it seems so difficult. We even tried searching them using your belongings but it was not working either!"

Marco noticed that he was no longer wearing the clothes before he got in the car accident.

"I'm sorry, I was the one who took off your clothes. They were dirty, and so I need to borrow the old clothes of my father so you can wear something. But don't get the wrong idea, I did not take advantage of that and I did not change your underwear!"

"I see... it's nothing to me whether you change my clothes or nothing. Still, thank you for doing that to a stranger!" Marco said, smiling at her. "By the way, where is that woman who saved my life? I want to thank her too?"

"My mom is not here at the moment. She's doing something important, but she will be returning as we speak. By the way, my name is Shiela and I am her daughter. Can you tell me about yourself? Cause we've been wondering why it was hard to locate any members of your family!"

Marco sat down on his bed and looked down, still frustrated as he could remember anything about his past yet.

"I actually don't know who I am... I mean, I got in a car accident and when I woke up, I could not remember anything in the past. But the doctor said that my name is Marco!"

"That's awful. How is the culprit? And why did you leave the hospital?" asked Sheila, and she turned her gaze at him, realizing that he was truly in a difficult situation.
