CHAPTER 138
In the dimly lit room of the secluded mansion, James received reports of Victor's recent actions, and his face broke into a sinister grin. He couldn't believe his luck. Victor had destroyed the mansion he had recently acquired, and it was a clear sign that he was getting closer to James and Megan.

"I knew that little trick would work," James chuckled to himself, relishing in the satisfaction of outsmarting his enemy. He had never expected the man to take the bait so easily, and now he felt even more invincible.

As he paced around the room, his eyes fell upon the bed where Megan lay unconscious. She looked so peaceful, but to James, she was nothing more than a pawn in his grand scheme. He couldn't understand what the man saw in her. She wasn't particularly pretty, nor did she come from a powerful or respectable family.

"What does that man see in you?" James muttered under his breath, looking at Megan with disdain. "You're nothing special."
