Ch 6: Teach me the dark arts of Magic

The Elf Erhear Slientawk didn't stay around long to talk with everyone; instead, he removed himself to wander around inside the castle.

Of course, Erhear has informed the old sage Mack and understands as he too shares the feeling of not wanting to hang around Royalty.

Yet the old sage could not freely leave as is stuck since he is an honored guest here in the king and queen home.

So he must talk to these people, but the old sage told Erhear to talk more about the boy Loren since he had the chance to meet him.

The Elf Erhear spent only a few minutes moving freely around the castle, but soon took a stop in the royal library.

He wanted to use the free time he has to see and read any book that might grab his attention.

Spending another few minutes in the library Erhear felt the presence of another coming in.

This person didn’t take long to find him and to his surprise to who this could be was no other than the boy Lorn.

“Hello, Erhear, interested in the book we have here,” Loren said, not showing any expression.

“Princes Loren, I did not expect to see a boy like you here.”

“Loren is fine and you thought that I am just 7 years old and that I should be playing like every other boy and girl around my age.”

“Well yes, but I have a feeling you will spend your time here in this library.”

Erhear is talking normally to the boy but still can feel that great power in him.

“It is a place for someone like me as you see I am different from my two brothers.”

“Oh, and what you do is different,” Erhear asks, knowing already what the answer could be.

“I can hear the dead speak to me and you can understand what I mean. Erhear as you practice the dark arts of Necromancy.”

Shock to disbelief even shows the expression to Loren the Elf slowly began to reach for a dagger he keeps hidden on his body.

“Going to try to kill me, the king's son, here, you must not care very much about the consequences to come if you commit such an act.”

“H-how do you know.”

“I told you they speak to me telling me what I want to know like for example you're a half-Elf as the other half-human.”

Erhear became ever more shocked as not many know that he is only half-Elf.

“Do you still wish to kill me or would you like to help me?”

Erhear looked at Loren seeing that lifeless expression on his face after saying that.

“Help you in what,” Erhear asks.

“In teaching me necromancy, I find it an interesting art of magic to learn.”

“Necromancy is an evil part of the magic to learn and besides how is it that a 7-year-old boy such as yourself knows about it.”

“Well I am learning magic from the old sage Mack, of course, he warned me about the Darkside of Magic yet I know he would not teach me about Necromancy so I must go another way or someone.”

Erhear began to feel chills all over his body and it was all because of this boy in front of him.

He feels like he is not speaking to a child, but an older adult which Erhear could not understand.

“What if I refuse to teach you,” Erhear asks.

“Like I said there are other ways to learn the arts of Necromancy and besides your secret will be safe with me, I have no reason to tell anyone about it as it does not benefit me.”

Erhear became quiet after Loren finished talking as he began to think inside his head of a right answer to this situation.

Not long after, Erhear began to speak, giving his answer.

“Very well I will teach you Necromancy, but we must meet in secret where no one could know yet I do not think it would be easy for a son of a king to be able to do it on his own.”

“Oh you don’t have to worry about that, I have a way to meet you Erhear with no one to notice I am gone.”

“Alright then we shall meet outside of the kingdom better it happens during the night.”

After saying what he had to say Erhear took the chance to leave as Loren stayed behind to read books.

-----------------------------------------

After some time had gone by, the day soon became the afternoon where Erhear and Mack walked the streets of Pherenth.

“So my friend tell me what you thought of the boy Loren when you got to meet him.”

“It is hard in a way to describe it in words Mack to feel that intense power flowing out of the boy make me seem that I am dreaming the impossible yet it is true as the boy was right before my eyes.”

The old sage nodes to what Erhear words as too can understand that feeling very well.

“I also noticed the boy has a different hair color than his father and mother could. She has been with someone else at the time with the king.”

“Humm, I would say yes to what you have said if it was true, but it is not as Loren is the king's son, the queen did try to use it against the boy and his mother, but that failed when the king had the doctor that delivered Loren prove it was his. Surprisingly that doctor was able to do just that, pointing out the eyes and the smaller feature he shared with the king that did not please the queen.”

“The queen dislikes having that boy and his mother live in the same castle as her and twin boys.”

“Yes and tell you this my friend it will be any better when those boys grow up.”

The Elf Erhear looked at the old sage, seeing him leave a disappearing sign, he petted this man as his friend yet he quickly began thinking of Loren.

Erhear couldn’t believe it and felt ashamed that a young boy like him was so fast to uncover his secret in steady and practicing the dark art of Necromancy.

Now he must teach it to the boy but must think of a way to take care of it because Erhear must make sure this secret stays with him only.

--------------------------------------

Night has come as Erhear waits peacefully for the boy Loren to come, which did not take long as he felt the boy standing right in front of him.

“That was quick for you Loren, I am impressed that a boy your age knows a magic spell to make one appear from one place to another.”

“Thanks to my teacher, I have been learning a lot from him.”

“Indeed you are,” Erhear said while smiling at Loren.

That is when he made a move grabbing Loren being close to him while taking out a dagger and placed it right against the boy's neck.

The boy kept showing that cold expression on his face, not caring about his life right now in danger and Erhear can see it making him question if this boy is even normal at all.

“I have been thinking carefully a lot before coming on whether or not I should kill you.”

“Because you see me as a threat to this world Erhear.” the boy said.

“Well yes, I can sense that great power in you and you want to teach you Necromancy makes me even wonder what you plan to do with such dark magic.”

The two looked for only a moment as Erhear was interested to know that when Loren finally spoke.

“To become this world monster.”
