Before Disaster

In a very high bustling place in the center of the city, inside one of the houses situated there. In the bedroom, a man was asleep on the bed. However, he appears to be having a bad dream as sweat ooze out of his body. The young man seems to be in his early twenties and his appearance was the kind that many girls would fall for.

Suddenly the young man on the bed opened his eyes. The man appears to be in trance, as his eyes stare at the white ceiling, simply wondering about something.

Seth stare blankly into space. His mind was already in turmoil as he kept deliberating.

Where am I? Why does the chandelier look so familiar to me? Am I not dead?

Yeah. Seth recollects that he was killed in the monster land by some rich guys who took fancy to the herbs at his hand.

He was supposed to be dead. What is he doing here? And why does this room look familiar to him?

The door to the room opened and the accustomed voice he hadn't heard since ages came into his ear.

"Hubby, it's time to take your medicine." The melodious voice of a woman sounded in the room. The sound of footsteps prod towards the bedside.

Seth who had not gotten out of his trance state saw that familiar face he would never forget, in his view.

"Why are you staring at me like that? Don't tell me the fever has turned you into a fool". The expression on the woman in Seth view suddenly revert to that of panicked one and she nippily brought out her phone, ready to call the emergency line

Seth reached out of instinct, pulling the woman closer to him. The result of the occurrence was the phone falling to the floor and the stunned woman laying on top of Seth

"You..." The woman with a tinge of blush on her cheeks stare at the man who was under her. "What has gotten into you? You suddenly got sick at the night of our wedding and now... You're bullying me."

"This is not bullying." Seth chuckled, finding his wife expression funny. "We're already married, so this is acceptable."

Seth recalls now. Seems like he'd gone back in time to when he just got married to his dearest wife. A day after their wedding? Isn't that a year to when the disaster will strike.

Seth didn't want to ruminate about the past and hug his wife more.

"I miss you so much. You don't know how much I miss you." Seth rested on his wife neck.

Anna didn't know why her husband got emotional all of a sudden. She termed his sudden strange behavior to his illness.

Later in the evening, Anna went out for her shift, leaving Seth all alone in the house. Seth sat on the bed thinking all to himself.

Seth had been an orphan ever since he gained intelligence. He spent his childhood in the orphanage, along with other children like Anna who is now currently his wife.

After reaching a certain age, him and Anna both left the orphanage ready to get independent by themselves. During those time, he and Anna developed feelings for each other. They promised to get together once they were financially stable.

Now, he was currently the CEO of a small company, while Anna was working in the medical field as a nurse.

Their wedding was yesterday. It wasn't a large one. Only some few friends and co-workers from the work of place were invited.

Seth remembers that he was just indulging himself into his newly married life when the disaster struck.

Knowing what will happened in the nearest future, Seth didn't want to waste time at all. He quickly got up and went to the study-room. He sat behind the desk and took a notepad out of the drawer before he starts writing down all occurrences that would happen in the future.

After an hour, Seth was done writing. He looked at the long list and sighed with satisfaction. It was really great of him to always scroll on the net in his previous life.

The net was where Seth spends his time on whenever he had nothing to do at hand. He would read all those stuffs post by people on the net. Most of them were how some powerful groups found treasures and their location.

The location was useless since the treasure has been taken but now that Seth who was back to the past knew of this information, it was a big golden finger to him.

However, Seth wasn't concern about the treasure. Even if he was greedy of it, Seth wouldn't put his life on the line to fight for any treasures. The reason why most of the treasure news was popular was because it all result to disaster in the end.

Seth only wish was to live a safe and comfortable life with his wife. So, he wasn't aiming to become a badass protagonist.

So, Seth first priority was money and food. A year from now, money will become useless. Not entirely useless but before the creation of the federation empire, money would lose all its valuables.

There will also be series of food shortage because some natural disasters were bound to occur once the beasts emerge.

Seth recall that his house was affected in the catastrophe. And it was due to this he lost Anna. Seth hurriedly noted those places that weren't affected by earthquake in the disaster.

This cost of houses in that place right now are not expensive as they were not located in a high rising place.

Seth knew this place that's not valuable now will become priceless in the future.

Right now, he has some money at his hand. If he could sell his company, the house they're living in, and some of his valuable assets in his hand, the money in his hand will increase.

That's right, Seth was going to sell his company. He remembered that his company was also razed down during the earthquake, so there was no use of keeping it.

The company and the house were situated in a good place so it would fetch a high price. Seth hurriedly called a housing agent and tell them the decision about selling his house.

After dropping the phone call, Seth decides to inform Anna about his plan. Although, he wouldn't tell her about his rebirth, Seth was sure that Anna would support his decision.

Seth also notes a very important thing. That is the new VR game that would be released a month from now.

This was an era where virtual reality games were common. There are several thousands of virtual reality game in the market, so this new game coming up wouldn't cause a sensation at all.

Seth also knew it but when it was discovered that this game could be connected to the monster land, it hurriedly received a wave of recognition but it was too late by them.

The game was already in the hands of the big power of the federation. The cabin was shared by them. There could have been a mass produced of the cabin but the federation people were so selfless that they put their self-interest first.

They wanted only power among themselves not the people, because they knew if those cabins were to get to the hand of the people, their stay in power would be over. As there would be disorder in the society.

Only those who were lucky was those who had bought the VR game cabin before the federation knew of it and those who had gotten it before the emergence of the disaster.

Seth then notes down the date of the released of the VR game and also, there was a very important thing he should do right now. And that is meeting the hacker 'Krall'.

Thanks to his scrolling on the internet, Seth knew all the information about Krall. If this was in his previous life, Seth wouldn't dare say he wants to meet Krall. Krall was a very important person and a treasure who is protected by the empire. It was said that Krall created a plug-in chip. The plug-in chip when connected to the VR game cabin, create a space portal the current world to the game world. That is, things from the game can be taken out to the real world. But things from the real world couldn't be brought into the game.

Even if things from the outside world can't be brought in, such a function was still mind-blowing.

"I should take things slowly." Although the disaster is very near, Seth knew that being hasty won't help a thing. Instead, it'll do more harm than good. Seth decided to lay back and rest. There are still many things for him to recall. Maybe a rest will do the thing.

Later that evening, Seth took a walk down the street. His house was located in a very bustling district so there were much people walking around.

Seth saw this scene. The scene of people walking and laughing without worries. He wonders if those people would still laugh if they knew what was yet to come.

"Damm what I'm even thinking." Who the hell will laugh after facing such tragedy. Seth didn't want to think about anything and walked into the bustling street.

The huge billboard was busy advertising about some beauty products. Seth walked into a restaurant. The restaurant was specialized in making noodles and they taste good.

Seth couldn't recall how many times he'd fantasize about this place before he died. Now that he's here, he decided to treat himself.

After taking his seat, the shop owner came for his order.

"Three bowl of noodles please." Seth state his order.

"Okay." The shop owner notes it down and went back to bring his order.

Not long, the three bowl of noodles he ordered was brought to his table.

"Here's your three bowls of noodles. Please enjoy." The shop owner smiled and went back to attend to the other customers.

The restaurant was a small one with only the shop owner. Yet still It was still famous. Because it was not yet closing hour, there were still some seats left out. If it was the closing hour, a dense crowd would have gathered outside the shop waiting in line to get their food.

As he was eating, Seth felt a camera flash hit him. He raised his head and looked towards the direction of the flash. There, he saw two girls who were sneakily taking his picture.

When the two girls saw Seth looking over, they immediately hid their phone and a blush crept up their cheeks.

Seth was stunned.

Were those two taking a picture of me?

Looking at the girls who were scared to look at him, Seth lowers his gaze and continue with his food.

If not for those girls, Seth would have forgotten how good-looking he was. Good looks were great now but after the disaster, who care about good looks. All that matters is your strength.

Seth finished eating his noodles and paid for his meal. Since there wouldn't be anyone at home if he went home now, he decided to stroll around the busy street.

It was his honeymoon, yet he was passing it alone. Anna was at work and would only be home late in the night. The two were busy but they understood each other best. They'd both gotten through those tough times and knew how important it was to make money.

Seth looked around the surrounding he missed and of course receiving gaze from girls. His hand was also holding a card from a scout agency who gave it to him if he wants to become a model.

Seth only smiled. When he returned home, he was holding a nylon bag containing some snacks he bought outside. When he entered, he found that Anna had already gotten home from work.

"You're back." Seth drops the bag in his hand onto the table.

"Yeah. Where did you go? You just recover from illness so you shouldn't be walking around." Anna was getting ready to prepare dinner when she saw Seth who was coming in.

"Just thought I could take a walk." Seth walked towards Anna and hugged the other from the back. He smells the shampoo fragrance from her hair and knew she must have taken a bath. "It's kind of lonely being all alone all day. It's supposed to be our honeymoon but why does it look like a normal day instead."

"Get out of the way. I've to make dinner." Anna tried to jerk off the other party hands away but he just wouldn't budge. "Seth."

"You smell nice." Seth touched and sniff the other party hair.

"What are you doing." Anna didn't know what Seth was trying to do.

Seth suddenly chuckled. "Okay, I'll leave." Seth let go of Anna and took the bag he put on the table. "I brought snacks. Want some."

"You know how unhealthy those things are. If you continue eating that, your--."

"Yeah, I know." He had almost forgotten that his wife was a medical practitioner. She wouldn't stop talking about how unhealthy outside food are. "I'll be back after taking a shower." Seth took the bag with him and went upstairs.

Anna could only shake her head and resume to prepare dinner.
