CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FIVE

Logan's fingers trembled slightly as he dialed Sam's number, a calculated sense of urgency in his voice. "Sam, did you see the news about Mr. McLaughlin? It's all over the place."

Sam's response was swift, "Yeah, I saw it. Quite the spectacle, isn't it?"

Logan, feigning surprise and concern, continued, "I thought we agreed that this operation wouldn't turn into a mess. What if the police gets involved now? This could jeopardize everything."

Sam, feeling the weight of Logan's suspicion, reassured him, "Logan, I had nothing to do with this. I don't know who's behind it, but it's not part of our plan."

Playing his part, Logan pressed further, "But who else could benefit from this? If board members start disappearing, it's only a matter of time before the police connects the dots and realize that only board members are the targets for whoever's behind this. This looks like planned work. What do you think we can make out from this?"
