Autopsy room.
Emma pulled off the cover, the poor body so charred that it wasn't clear whether it was a woman or a man. The bones were almost visible with blackened flesh like overcooked steak. A preliminary check showed it was female.
Her whole body was blackened, some bones were even visible between the flesh that had almost turned to charcoal. Her eyes widened as if they were about to fall from the socket. The eyelids were burnt out, the poor eye screamed as if it witnessed the second her life ripped from her body.
Her hands were still in the initial position, both in a tied position over her head. That's what Emma and other coroners were trying to fix at least to make its position back to normal before the follow-up autopsy was carried out.
Smoke was still slightly rising from between the bones as if it was overcooked meat.
Sam entered with Dakota.
Emma approached with her note sheet with the data she had collected.
"This is the report result about the body from Rina before she goes out. A woman, twenty-eight years old, single, works as a tax consultant in a well-known company. Last night she just celebrated her anniversary after working for five years at the company. Her friends said the last time they saw her was around eleven o'clock past thirty from the karaoke club, they went home and nothing strange happened after that. The victim's boyfriend contacted her before midnight asking if she wanted to be picked up or not, and when he picked her up at the specified location, he couldn't find her anywhere."
Sam frowned, besides as an experienced painstaking coroner, Emma now becomes Rina's assistant since that little girl doesn't like to stand too long beside the ugly corpse.
He takes over the sheet from the young lady's hand.
"Hmmh, so it happened around midnight until dawn"
Emma nodded.
"Yup, seeing from the very warm body, the perpetrator deliberately made the victim's body burn longer until it extinguished itself"
Sam lowered his head to smell the smoke that was still coming out a little.
"What's that smell? It smells very strong"
Emma nodded again.
"Yeah it's thinner"
Sam frowned.
"It's weird, using thinner, why don't you just use gasoline as well?"
"It's flammable, the first thought might have been the trigger" Emma answered.
Dakota moved around the body and observed what he visible on it. From the size, the victim has quite a large figure, which means needs lots of effort just to hang her in a very high position. The culprit must be more than one or two, or maybe more than that.
He stop his step when saw some smoke still hovering near the burned feet, he came closer to check on it.
Dakota who was standing next to Sam suddenly gripped Sam's arm tightly, he seemed to be struggling to catch his breath.
"Sam"
"Eh Dax, what's wrong?"
Dakota moved away from the corpse. He accidentally inhaled some of the smoke that was still sneaking out from the body. Sam helped him sit up while Emma rushed to get him a drink.
"What happened? You look so pale all of sudden" Sam asked worriedly. Could Dakota be afraid to see the corpse? Although he had often encountered murder victims who were far more sadistic and strange than this before.
Dakota tried to collect his breath, his chest tight.
"Cough cough"
Sam glanced at the smoke coming from between the corpse's thighbones.
"Have you checked what chemicals are in this body? Dakota has an extraordinary allergic reaction to some chemicals such as sulfur powders or liquids, maybe you should check it"
The smoke that was emitted did still contain chemicals, however, they didn't expect this reaction which is very dangerous for Dakota.
"I'll take the sample to the lab" Emma replied.
....
...
Not long after that.
Sam and Ron were already sitting in their office, while Dakota was sitting at one of the empty tables where he had been for a few months. Unlike others which were full of files, his tables are squeaky clean and shining.
Rina, Sam's junior colleague approached after getting the lab results for the victim. They named the case 'Tower Crane Flames' as their way of distinguishing one case from another.
As soon as Sam took it the girl immediately sat in front of Dakota, she was also one of the fans, and it was impossible to miss the time to see him at that time.
"Hi prof"
But Sam's hand pinched her ear.
"Eits what are you doing, quickly explain what this means"
"Ouch it hurts Boss"
Rina groaned in pain and finally followed Sam back to the whiteboard where the wall of Fames was displayed.
Sam crossed his arms in front of his chest, looking at Rina with a sharp gaze.
"Then, what are you waiting for?"
Rina grabbed the paper, still groaning in annoyance, but seeing Dakota was also waiting for information from her made her excited.
"So, from the lab results, it seems that the perpetrator used several different chemical liquids. The color of the burn marks was different in several places. The perpetrator started the fire from her feet, using thinner as the base, and the fire spread throughout the body with other oils and kerosene. The upper body contains a lot of kerosene, and the lab also found a small amount of sulfur powder on the legs. Before her death the victim had burns on the soles of her feet, it was suspected that the coroner saw the post-mortem condition"
Sam frowned and saw some photos on the whiteboard, photos of burn victims that might be possible to give a little hint.
"If thinner is a liquid that is commonly found in construction areas. It could be that the perpetrator got it on the spot, but hung it up and ignited a fire from her feet, that is too much. I mean, you see how the officers are having a lot of trouble lowering the victim's body while the culprit seemed to easily tie her there, it just so happened that the crane had stopped operating because the engine was broken. Then how could it hang there? But, why did they mix sulfur? It looks like the culprit just plays around which will be in vain because, in the end, they will kill her viciously"
Rina approached.
"It could be just for satisfaction. According to the report from the crane foreman it had stopped operating because some spare parts were damaged and they planned to fix it today. But the other crane was not broken"
"They use two cranes at once" said Dakota. Sam and Everyone else turned their heads, Dakota stood up from his spot and approached.

"Erm well, that's what I thought too Dax," said Sam. Dakota looked at the board carefully, every picture in front of him might give them a very important clue. "Heh, the actor wants to show how he can put on such a big show and how they managed to end it perfectly, they are even willing to do dangerous things to show how high their confidence level is, the thing is, in this world, there is no such as a perfect crime" " I know! It's like one of the titles of your lectures, that is very famous, right? I've watched the video over and over again, it's really cool, Prof, eh Dakota" exclaimed Rina. Sam turned to Rina, frowning asking what the young woman meant. "Which video?" "That' one, the title is 'no crime is perfect' so in lecture Dakota gave examples of some tough murder cases that were almost unsolvable, but even though no culprit was found, the crime was still imperfect, because some evidence was left, only it will take time for the real culprit to be caught, and as time goes o
Sam was still sitting in his office. It's eight o'clock in the evening and his eyeball hasn't moved yet from staring at the whiteboard ever since, lifting his head when he sees Dakota appear at the door. "Dax, why don't you just go home?" Dakota approached and looked at some of the photos that Sam and the team had arranged on the board. He just keeps being calm and quiet, as he used to be, just observing carefully with forehead furrowed deeply, sometimes Sam has a little doubt does this young man heard him or not. Sam came out of his desk with a plastic bag filled with a piece of a letter in the package that Dakota had received. "Do you recognize this handwriting? This letter was really addressed to you, I'm afraid that person might still be following your every step, you should be careful Dax, I haven't sent it to the lab because I want to know what you think about this" Dakota glanced at the clear plastic in Sam's hand, the letter with a paper in light pink base colour, the wo
"Eckkh" his neck was pressed tightly, the two big hands were choking him as hard as he could, making him hard to breathe. Dakota tried to break off the hand but he couldn't, his strength was nothing compared to the big figure who sat on his chest and strangled him with both of his big hands. He was short of breath, no matter how hard he tried to draw his breath was running out, soon he might die, he thought. But... He opened his eyes wide and could only see the darkness around him, his breath was heavy, but at least he could breathe again, that was just a dream, it was his bed, his room. A dream, it was the same repeated dream that keeps stuck in his mind all this time, as if it was real, he could die from it, some kind of trauma, which is too much for him. As a psychiatrist, he could read the deepest thoughts of every first-class criminal's brain he had worked with but he missed the most important thing, once he even opened some free consultation sections at the social institutio
Rina handed a piece of report paper in front of Sam. "Then, what was the result?" Sam frowned after reading the test results on the paper which caused Dakota's hand to almost get burned. "Sulfur? Again?" Rina nodded. "Yes, the substance was neatly folded in a piece of paper and spread when Dakota read it, we've been keeping it in plastic so there's very little physical contact" Sam straightened up in his seat. "Well also because Dakota has a severe allergic reaction to some chemicals like this, so for him it will be more severe, I touched it too and didn't feel anything, the package sender seems to know Dakota so well, that he knows such details, this is very worrying" Rina pointed at Dakota's desk. "Is the wound really serious? Does he need someone to take care of him at home? Oh It's a pity he's alone in the apartment, he can't definitely cook with a hand like that, it seems like I have to go there and take care of him" Sam looked at Rina sharply. "Don't mess around, you'r
Claudia was depressed, and deeply obsessed with Dakota, she went mad when the young man said they were just a friend, but the girl want more than that. She goes crazy every time someone comes near Dakota and holds his hand, she was often getting into catfights because of the young man. The girl can't stand it anymore, up into one long night, she put sleeping pills on the young man's drink and took him out of town. There was no news for two days, until one day Dakota managed to contact her, saying that Claudia might be in trouble. Claudia killed a young man who she said was going to rape her and stabbed him dozens of times. What Dakota said was the exact opposite, he couldn't be lying if it was Claudia who killed the young man for trying to help Dakota escape. A young woman, who seemed delicate and helpless, but can kill without blinking, while everyone thought she was just a weak young girl. Although Dakota's testimony was doubted by some people including Katrin as her sister, the e
Along the path by the river."Stop!"Sam's screamed, he and Rina chased the suspect who fled when he saw the two heading to his boarding house. The man in dark grey and shabby clothes was running as fast as he could, he even not wearing any footwear. He run as fast as he could and knock over several people who are blocking his way.Sam with his long legs jumped over the pile of garbage and continued to chase the man who then threw himself into the river."Ach God damn it! Why do you have to go down to the river, these are new shoes and pants!"Sam stopped his running, he was panting, as well as the runaway suspect named Rus, he was panting and stopped catching up his breath, looking at Sam warily."Hoh hoh"Sam held out his hand."Come here, hurry! Get out or I'll shoot you in the leg!" Sam was furious, his face was red from being overly mad.Rina stopped, some uniformed officers had also followed them.Sam
Russ bit his nails again, cold sweat fell on his forehead, his legs continued to sway non-stop, his eyes glanced around the room until at Sam who stood with a sharp look at him, then at Dakota, what was he thinking, thought Sam who was getting wary, he stood closer when he saw Russ suddenly wake up and lunge at Dakota."Prang!!"His chair fell instantly on the floor, he tried to reach Dakota who he thought might be the weakest of all, almost grabbed Dakota's clothes if Sam didn't swiftly hold the man's body."God damn it!" With just a few movements Sam had the man's head flat on the table.Russ was still struggling to escape, Thomas asked Dakota to stand away while the other officers had entered and secured the man."Let go of me! Not me! I told you I lost my card! Why doesn't anyone believe me, ekch" his eyes widened at Dakota as if he wanted to swallow him, he continued to struggle while two uniformed officers had restrained him and led
"That Russ, not the culprit, he doesn't have that much courage" Sam frowned, Dakota's words have always had a point. "You think so? What makes you think that? He's a lunatic, unemployed, hopeless person, society trash, has no future, he'll do whatever he could to save him safe." Dakota nodded. "Yeah right, but by his nature he had absolutely no motive to kill the victim, especially at his former working place, he may be insane, and desperate, but he's not a person who thirsts for attention, judging by his very restless demeanour among the crowd, how he slurred to cover his fear, he might be crazy, but he's not that clever, the one that very important to that man were just money" Sam took a deep breath. "Heh I think so too, some evidence at his house suggests he may actually have sold his pass key, that person may know who the perpetrators are" Dakota nodded. "Yeah, it possible, and this Russ even though he's not that sm
