Chapter 6: What The Hell Should I Even Do?

Nysh went out of his room and went to the first floor of the Inn, he ate first to fill his stomach for a bit, he didn't even expect to eat so much, he gulped down ten servings of meat and five massive mugs of bears, he couldn't believe how much humanity developed with making food.

After all, the only food they ate are either roasted or fresh meat, that's how dark that era was.

After eating, he went outside to buy some good sets of clothes, he actually bought twenty sets of clothing, used water magic to clean his body, and wore one of the new clothes he had purchased.

He felt quite astounded at their craftsmanship, but for the stats...

[Blue Thread Shirt

Level: 1

Defense: +1]

"......." To Nysh, it felt really... really weak, but the benefit is, it's actually rather comfortable: "Well, it's somewhat a good trade, since there isn't much chaos, it's good to let loose once in a while."

A million years ago, you can't even pee safely, letting your guard down for a single minute could cost you your life. Imagine going through your life with every second of your life is in danger.

He also bought a pair of slippers and felt weird wearing such a comfortable thing, his previous one was made out of Crimson Diamond Dragon's leathers, so it really is massively different.

After a while, he made his way to the city square and stood there staring at anything he see.

After an hour had passed, he was still there.

He couldn't help but ask himself: 'What the hell should I even do next?'

Look for a lady that will make your heart go doki-doki -Nikikoi.

Find a new batch of people you can trust, and a fine lady as well -Bihyoho.

Live your life to the fullest, and also, look for a good partner, a beautiful noble would do, create a massive family with at least twenty offspring -Suparna

"So... how do I do something like that?" Nysh couldn't help but feel rather annoyed.

After much deliberation, he felt that it's going to be pointless thinking about it.

"Whispering Wind Fairy Marites." It's one of his few skills for reconnaissance, it's one of the best scouting skills he had created. He could hear everything at a minimum range of 500 meters, at 100 kilometers tops.

Soon, a wind fairy-looking creature appeared beside him, he started scanning around and hearing their conversation.

After a while, he had finished his info gathering method and frowned.

First off, he needed an identity, he could be a member of a family which could be the easiest for normal people, but probably not for him.

To get into a family, one needed to be wedded, birthed, or adopted, even being a slave to a family will give him an identity, of course, that's out of the option.

Other than that, there's this thing called Academy where you practice your occupation, such as mage or warrior or other kinds of occupations. It's also a place where people would mingle and know each other, form bonds and connections "Now this is useful!" Nysh remarked.

As for Priests and Paladins, they are people trained within the church.

Next would be as an Adventurer, you can create an identity here of yourself, create a reputation, and have formed many connections once you've become successful.

Next is taxation, which he felt is kind of annoying but sounds rather acceptable.

Rulers will collect taxes under their wings.

For example, would be, villages will pay taxes to cities, cities will pay taxes to kingdoms, and kingdoms will pay their taxes to the Empire, in return, the Empire will protect their allies if a foe much stronger than their kingdom antagonizes them, the same goes to those under the kingdom's system.

But one thing to know is, that being under powerful people would already remove most of their problems because if you antagonize people under their power, it's the same as antagonizing those protecting them.

The problem for him right now is rather difficult, he has a massive amount of assets in his inventory, all of the gifts that his comrades had left behind for him.

He had a 50,000 slot inventory, but it's already filled and only less than a quarter of space is left.

Just from a single slot, a level 1 ruby, he has 40,000 pieces of it.

The problem now is, it'll give him a massive amount of trouble, you can't really reveal so much wealth without any story to back it up. Based on what he had gathered, he may be treated as a spy from other kingdoms or empires.

But after being an adventurer, for every mission, you only needed to pay 1% of your earning as tax, which makes it much reasonable for him. Every nation wouldn't actually want to tax adventurers any higher than that.

After all, as adventurers are free as a fly, if they were taxed to heavily, they can just switch to other countries.

Adventurers are the life and bloodline of any territory, all of the loots they get would usually be sold to the territory, hence, everything is all good.

If they tax adventurers one percent, that's all good, they'd rather get 1% than for an adventurer to move out of their territory.

After a while of thinking, it's only a few more hours left till dinner time is up. Nysh sighed and shook his head: "That was a lot of explaining..."

After many contemplations, Nysh made a plan.

Working as an adventurer will create an identity for him, he could also pretend to find treasures from missions and happenstances.

Second, having a normal life, being a student of an academy would probably make him have a normal life, also, he then can also find a lady that will let him have a family.

One is good, two is better, but five is the epitome of happiness! Find as many as you can! -Nikikoi

These two steps were his only thought right now, he smiled and nodded his head: "I'm still quite great..."As he spoke those words, he headed back to the adventurer's guild.

What's an Adventurer's Guild?

Nysh smiled, he looked at the massive sign ahead [Black Ridge City Adventurer's Guild Branch].

As soon as he entered, he was met with the gazes of hundreds of adventurers inside.

"Oh, someone's here to post a mission?" One of them remarked.

It couldn't be helped. Everyone here is wearing a sort of armor, but the highest amongst them is only at level 69. As a person in normal clothes, they immediately assumed that Nysh was here for merely posting a mission request.

Nysh proceeded to the clerk and asked: "Hello, I'd like to be an adventurer."

Everyone in the guild became speechless: "......................"

Normally, people would use their best armor or any available for them to use before applying, but to think that this person actually came with casual attire.

But since it's not a mission, everyone's interest vanished.

The clerk was quite beautiful, she has silver hair, she felt speechless at first before a business smile bloomed on her face: "Yes, please fill up the form first."

Nysh felt quite interested in this lady, after all, all of the adventurers are around level 40 average, but this lady...

[Vernice

Level: 142

Faction: Adventurer's Guild.]

She's actually more capable than the many adventurers inside the guild.

Nysh nodded his head and started writing. After that, Vernice handed a stone to him: "Please place your hand on it and insert mana, it'll show us your information and will also be used to create your adventurer's identity.

Nysh nodded his head and did as instructed.

Soon, his information appeared in the stone.

[Ragus Nysh

Level: 1

Class: None

Faction: None.]

It was so ordinary that Vernice felt speechless, she couldn't help but feel that this individual is someone not to be played with, yet, it showed the opposite.

She then took the stone and nodded: "The fee is 20 silvers."

Nysh handed it immediately and smiled back at her before asking: "Is there anything more?"

Vernice shook her head: "Nothing for today, your adventurer's card will be available tomorrow, so come back here to pick it up tomorrow in the afternoon."

She paused for a bit before pointing at the board: "You can start gaining experience as an adventurer by completing missions, you can receive any mission there."

Nysh nodded his head: "There seemed to be rankings?"

Vernice smiled and nodded: "Yes, as a new adventurer, you will be an F-ranked adventurer, so, in turn, you'll only be able to receive F-ranked missions."

"After completing 10 F-ranked missions, you can then take an E-rank mission, if you successfully complete the mission, then, you'll be promoted to an E-ranked adventurer."

Nysh nodded his head: "Is it the same for E-rank to D-ranked adventurer promotion?"

Vernice smiled but shook her head: "No, that's the start. You'll need to complete fifty E-ranked missions to be able to participate in D-ranked missions."

Nysh nodded his head: "Thanks."

As he spoke, he went towards the mission board, checked what was available, and then picked ten of them before going back to the Inn.
