Chapter 3.

"What happened to him Doc?" Ashley asked as she sat in front of the doctor.

The doctor who was Ashley's old friend sighed, "Ashley, there is a head injury on his head and the memory loss is the side effect."

"Any idea when will his memory come back"

"Can't say. It should be back in a few days because the head injury is not serious."

Ashley nodded. "I got it. Thanks for the help, Jason."

"Anytime." Jason smiled and watched Ashley go before sighing and laying back in his seat.

"So he lost his memory, huh?" another person asked, making Ashley halt.

"Yes, he did." Ashley looked at the ground. Her face had no expression but still, her fists were clenched in her jaws were gritted.

The other woman looked down as well. "How do you feel?"

Ashley shook her head, "I don't know Summer, all I know is that he is with me, in front of me, and even if he does not remember me it's fine as long as he smiles at me, as long as he talks to me I am fine with that."

Summer sighed, "But I think this is a good thing."

Ashley looked at Summer.

"You got him back so cherish him and fill his life with happiness isn't that what you wanted? You wanted to see him always smiling, right?"

Ashley leaned against the wall and covered her face with her hands. "I want him to be happy, and I want him to be free."

"Then go for it. Very few people can get this chance...but before that, wash your face."

Ashley made her way to Bryan's room after washing her face and wiping it with a towel. When she reached the room she saw Bryan standing up with shaky legs.

Ashley quickly ran to him and held his uninjured forearm. "What are you doing?!!"

Bryan, who was startled, was a little relaxed when he saw Ashley, "I was coming back from the washroom."

"You went to the washroom alone?" Ashley asked as she made Bryan sit on the bed, "Where is the nurse?"

"It's okay, I didn't call her and went by myself and see I can handle this much."

When Ashley didn't say anything, Bryan looked at her only to see Ashley glaring at him.

"What?"

"you could have fallen and got hurt, your injuries could have worsened."

"Why are you talking about something that didn't happen?"

"Didn't happen but could have happened...see this is what I was talking about always doing everything on our own, now just lie down"

"I am a patient. How can you behave like this with a patient?"

"Huh! so you know that you are a patient, then behave like one," Ashley said sternly

"Alright, Alright don't be mad now.?"

"He said that your head injury is the reason for your memory loss, and that's why you have to stay here for a few days because of our wound."

"I see."

"So did he say when my memories will come back?"

"He does not know when exactly…” Ashley said and clenched her fist, “but in a few days your memories should be back."

Bryan looked much more relaxed after listening to this and laid back in bed. "I wish they come back soon. It's weird and scary not being able to remember anything... and it must be hard for you as well, right?"

Ashley stopped whatever she was doing and looked at Bryan. "Why would it be bad for me?"

"If your lover forgets you, then shouldn't you be sad?"

Ashley smiled, "Yes I was sad but now that I have you back I can make new memories with you."

Bryan nodded, "But aren't you afraid that I might never love you back and might fall in love with anyone else?"

Ashley paused and closed her eyes, clenched her fist, and then took a deep breath before facing Bryan and sitting beside him.

"It will tear me apart. I had already felt what it is like to have my heart stop when I saw you lying here lifelessly and I don't think I can go through it again. I will just die."

Bryan felt speechless, "Hey, Ashley, I was just...kidding, don't take it seriously."

Ashley smiled. "But isn't it true that you don't love me anymore?"

Bryan was speechless.

"How can you love me when you don't know anything about me?
