5. Human Imagination

A small disturbance rose from among those slaves. Before those slaves were bought, they had all received special training. Before the master gave them orders, they were not allowed to move, even if the master was just farting they still had to endure, so a disturbance like this shouldn't appear.

But Arthur's words were too shocking, there had never before been a noble on the continent that would turn slaves into ordinary people. If you were made a slave, then you would be a slave for generations, and your descendants would all be slaves, this never changed.

If Arthur was just talking nonsense. these slaves wouldn't believe it, but Arthur promised with the honor of the Ryle Clan and his Kingdom. Nobles in this world didn't easily make promises, and even if they did they wouldn't promise with the honor of their Clan, that was what nobles valued the most. As long as they promised with the honor of their Clan, they would accomplish it. In other words, what Arthur said, was all true!

What do slaves always want? That was to one day become ordinary people, to get back their freedom, to let their son and daughter not suffer because of slavery. For this reason, a lot of slaves fought, rebelled, and revolted, but they were immediately suppressed by nobles because they were only slaves, they had no weapons, they had no armor, and they not knew Qi or Magic. Under such situations, they wouldn't beat the noble troops.

But now Arthur was telling them, you don't need to resist, as long as you work hard, as long as you contribute to the Arazka Kingdom, you can all be ordinary people. To these slaves, this was really like a dream.

Slaves needed to work hard because if they didn't and were discovered, they would be put to death. Even if they weren't, they would at least suffer the harshest penalties. Therefore they didn't dare slack off. But now someone was telling them, as long as you work hard, I can give you what you want the most, this was too great a shock to them.

Luca and the others stared blankly. They hadn't thought that Arthur would say something like this. Actually, Luca didn't agree with what Arthur said, because those slaves working hard were obligated. Moreover, there was no noble on the continent that would free slaves, there were too many things involved.

But now Arthur had already said it, and he had no way to object, he could only wait until they had returned to the inner keep to talk about it.

Looking over the people below, Arthur also knew that they would react like this. From old Arthur's memories, he learned about the position of these slaves. It was only because he knew so little, that he used what they wanted most to excite them.

Human imagination was endless, as long as they wished it, it would be difficult to imagine the energy they could create. And right now was when Arthur needed just such energy from them, that's why he did, what he did.

Arthur was quite satisfied with their reaction and continued: "You can think of all kinds of ways. As long as it benefits the Arazka Kingdom, or is something that can improve our lives, something useful, you can take it to Knight Luca or Butler Samuel. As long as I recognize that what you have is useful, is good, I will record your contribution. As long as your contribution reaches a certain level, you can become a civilian. Even if you don't, as long as you strive for it, as long as you make a good showing, you can gain some contribution, and as long as this contribution accumulates to a certain level, you can become a civilian, become civilian of our Arazka Kingdom."

Those slaves became even more excited. They now viewed Arthur as a god, because only a god would be so benevolent. All the slaves unexpectedly emitted an atmosphere of grandeur, an atmosphere that made even a strong knight like Luca standing in front feel somewhat fearful.

Luca turned to look at those slaves. He discovered that they all seemed to have gained something. When he had looked at these slaves before, he had always thought that they seemed lifeless, like rocks, but now they were like people, with vigor, and energy.

Luca's heart shook. He suddenly understood Arthur's attitude toward handling things. If the Arazka Kingdom was to develop, relying on a hundred dead slaves was impossible. But if it was a hundred people with full enthusiasm, then that was something completely different.

Luca didn't know what a hundred people with such enthusiasm could bring about, but he was very clear about what one hundred slaves could do. Luca a long sigh, his face revealing a true smile. At the same time he also gained a trace of determination, he believed the Arazka Kingdom would have a chance to rise.

Arthur also sensed the change in the slaves. He smiled slightly, aware that his words were useful. Therefore he at once said: "Good, you go take care of your work. First, sort out these supplies, tomorrow there will be new tasks for you. And as proof of the promise of freedom, at the end of the month, you will be paid Jewel."

Those slaves answered, and walked towards those supplies with quick steps. Their steps seemed a lot more energetic than before, brimming with enthusiasm.

After disbanding the slaves, Arthur turned his gaze to the knights who were still lined up neatly. He would change the way the knights trained, but he had to start gradually. In this era, they didn't have any form of rigorous training like the one established on earth.

All youth who have reached the age of 18 must serve the country for two years. Arthur as a military soldier knew more than anyone else, the importance of all those military routines.

He needed to train the reflexes and physical condition of the men so that they could use weapons or other equipment to be efficient. Although he didn't have any guns, it didn't mean he would ignore the benefits of that kind of training.
