Memphis woke up full of energy and ready to continue his learning. By the time his uncles and aunts had arrived, Memphis was already in the training grounds casting fire spells.

Donlan nodded in satisfaction. At least his work would not be difficult. The boy was hardworking.

Memphis seemed to notice their presence. "Good morning uncles and aunts! See, I've been able to make my own Fire spell!" said Memphis with a smile. "Excellent! Let us see it!" commanded Donlan. Memphis nodded and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath he thrust his hands forward. "Flame whip!" he yelled. Whips of Fire coiled around his arms. Turning around, he slashed at a nearby dummy, leaving a long burn mark. Donlad and the rest of his uncles begun to clap but Memphis wasn't finished yet. Thrusting his arms forward again, the flame whips left his arms and condensed into a normal looking spear. "Flame spear! Explode!" Little Memphis yelled out, hurling the spear with all his might to another dummy. The spear exploded when it came into contact with the dummy, blasting it away. "The training ground was silent. "Did he just cast an Intermediate Fire spell?" Maureen wondered in her head in shock. "Did I do it correctly, uncle?" Memphis asked with an innocent look. His uncle forced a smile and gave him a thumbs up. "Splendid one there Memphis, where did you learn that?" he asked. "Oh I thought of it and decided to try it out!" replied Memphis.

The adults were shocked but they quickly regained their composure. "Enough of that fire magic. Let's move on to the Light element," said Maureen Lerain. She walked forward and stood in front of Memphis. Memphis stood there attentively, waiting to listen to his aunt. Maureen smiled at that and then began to speak.

"The Light element is one of the rare elements and it signifies purity. It is also an original element which has other elements like Blessing and Healingunder it. Most often, Light element can be used to banish demonic spirits, attack and most often defend. Just remember this; Light is one of the fastest elements. It travels and strikes very quickly so your Light magic shouldn't be focused solely on defense alone. The element is a versatile one and it will only be limited by your imagination. For example, just as I can use the Light element to create a barrier to stop attacks, I can also use it to blind or disrupt the vision of my enemies. Watch carefully,"

Maureen waved her hand and suddenly there was a bright flash of light in the training area. "Ugh!" Memphis covered his eyes in pain as the light disoriented his vison. "You see? This element is very useful for sneak attacks. I'll be teaching you three Light spells and as you progress I'll teach you some of our Light spells."

Maureen continued speaking, "These are the spells I will be teaching you; Illuminate, Blinding flash and light barrier. Pay close attention."

"Illuminate," she called. Calm glowing white light filled her palm, making the training room brighter. "Blinding flash," she said next, clapping her hands. Immediately, the calm glow exploded and became fiercer, causing Memphis to close his eyes in pain. Finally, the flash subsided and Maureen raised her hand again "Light barrier," she said. Immediately, a solidified golden white barrier appeared in front of her. Clapping her hands, she dispersed the light. "Try that," she said to Memphis.

Memphis closed his eyes and focused on drawing the mana out of his body like he had been taught. Biting his lips in extreme concentration, he raised his palm. "Illuminate."

Bright light emanated from his palm and filled the training room. It wasn't too bright but it wasn't too dim either. "Perfect! As expected of one having the innate ability of impeccable control!" praised Philip. Memphis dispersed the light and moved on to the second spell, Blinding flash. "Blinding flash!" he called out. Light flashed in the training area, causing the adults to close their eyes briefly. Finally, Memphis moved on to the last spell, Light barrier. This one took him longer as he had to condense his mana into a more solid state. It didn't take long and his voice came out clearly. "Light Barrier!"

The barrier formed in front of him, blocking his whole body. The adults began to applaud his efforts. "Keep practicing till you totally master this. This goes for all your other spells and elements too. Remember, practice makes perfect," Maureen advised Memphis.

As days and weeks passed by, Memphis continued to practice the spells he had learnt. His family had employed the services of Mage Rutherford, a famous summoner and even Duke Narsius, a Space mage who was close to the Lerains. They had taught Memphis about their respective elements and left in awe of Memphis' talent and ability to comprehend everything they taught quickly.

"He is one in million," remarked Duke Narsius as he was having a discussion with Arius concerning Memphis. "His progress in magic is shocking. I won't be to surprised if he breaks through to the Intermediate Mage level at ten," he said.

Master Rutherford though had discovered something more shocking. The Summoning element didn't allow Mages to summon till they became Advanced mages due to mana requirements and strength but Memphis was an exception. He could summon his first beast if he broke through to the Intermediate level! The one which shocked him the most was that Memphis had the chance to contract more than one beast as his summons!

Memphis worked hard each day, aiming to perfect his spells. Very soon, his mastery over his mana was as good as that of an Advanced mage. Now, Memphis had more than 10 spells of different uses learnt under each of his combat elements; Fire, Space and Light.

One time Ralph came over to visit. "My mom said you're far stronger than me now. Let's have a duel so I can prove her wrong!" he said proudly. "Be my guest," Memphis shrugged.

Arudiz was made to be the referee to step in incase things went out of hand. Memphis and Ralph faced each other in the southern training area. "Go all out boys. I'll be here to prevent you from getting hurt," said Arudiz with his usual mocking smile. "Begin!"

Immediately Ralph opened his arms wide and purple lightning began to crackle at his finger tips. "Shock arc!" he cried, flinging his spell in Memphis' direction. "Too weak, try harder," taunted Memphis as he formed a light barrier which blocked the attack. Memphis pointed his finger at Ralph and called out, "Immolation!" A gout of fire left his fingertips and Ralph hurriedly dodged to get out of the way. "Lightning steps," he called, moving with speed to the side to commence his attack anew. "Ha! I dodged your attack!" Ralph gloated. Memphis gave him a wicked smile and that was when Ralph realised something was wrong.

"Aw shit!" he groaned as he had to duck again. This was because the Immolation spell he dodged had come back to him courtesy of Memphis' spatial element. While he was dodging, Memphis cast a blinding flash which disoriented Ralph and finally fired a Flame explosion spell. "This match is over said Arudiz calmly as he blocked the spell with his bare hands and didn't seem hurt. Memphis realized he didn't even notice when he moved. "How come I lost?" said Ralph in shock. "You're too cocky and flashy," taunted Memphis.

"Hmmpf! Next time I will defeat you. You just wait " said Ralph as he headed back to his house with fire in his eyes.

The adults watching were amused at Ralph's behaviour and surprised by Memphis' composure and magic ability. "He is a true prodigy. I don't think anyone at his level is his match," sighed Arius Lerain.
