Chapter Four: No Sense of Fashion.

Chapter Four: No Sense of Fashion.

AFTER making a deal with Lorelei’s father, Paxton and Lorelei decided to go back to the Villa where they were staying. Although Lorelei’s parents wanted her to stay for the night, Paxton insisted not to. He is Lorelei’s husband and seeing how her parents reacted earlier, he wasn't convinced that they wouldn't hide Lorelei if he left her in their house.

“Can you really get the deal by tomorrow?” Lorelei asked. Her voice seemed to doubt her husband's ability. Especially since she didn't know him well.

In the past two weeks that they have been together, Paxton didn't say anything about his personal life. What she just knew was, he has a limited edition car and a luxurious villa… that's all.

“Don’t worry about it, I can do that,” Paxton replied.

That night, Paxton waited for Lorelei to sleep before he called the Vice Chairman of Golden Realty Group. Holding a glass of whiskey, he sat down on an Acapulco chair on the balcony of his room.

“Hello, Miss Wyatt?”

“Good evening, Mr. Braxon! What can I do for you?” Miss Sofia Wyatt asked. Her voice seems like she was just awakened by his call.

“I’m sorry to interrupt your sleep. But I want you to do something for me, it is very important. You must do it by tomorrow morning.”

“Hmm, what is it, Sir?” she replied.

“Leviathan Marshall sent a proposal project with Golden Realty a week ago. Have you seen the proposal?”

“Yes, Sir. But I will decline it since it wasn't good—”

Before Miss Wyatt could finish her words, Paxton cut her off. “Sign the deal by tomorrow. It is $100 million.”

“What? Sir? Are you sure? Marshalls are not that established and there are more capable companies…”

“Just sign it.”

“Yes, Sir! I will!”

After the call, Paxton shifted his attention to Lorelei who was sleeping tightly on the bed. He smiled before sipping on the whiskey and finished it.

The next morning, a call woke up Lorelei. When she opened her eyes, Paxton wasn't beside her. She quickly took her phone and answered the call from her father.

“Hello, Dad? Good morning! What made you call this early?” she asked.

Getting up from the bed, the sun has already risen and the sunlight is passing from the balcony. Paxton didn't wake her up just like he always did every morning.

“How did your husband do that?!” Morgan asked. “I can't believe it! Your brother called me, Sofia Wyatt signed the deal just this morning!”

Still dizzy from her sleep, Lorelei’s eyes widened. “What? The deal has been signed right away?” she asked, surprised.

“Yes, hun! I didn't know how he did that. Maybe he has a connection with Sara Wyatt or to the owner? Maybe he’s their personal dermatologist that they adore a lot, so they approved his suggestion to sign the deal with us, right? Because there’s no way he can ask them to sign it without any connection,” he guessed. “Well, I guess I have to let him take care of you for a while.”

“For a while?” Lorelei was confused. What does her father mean by that?

“Forget it, just tell him I appreciate his effort. Oh! By the way, your cousin Chloe, and the eldest of Myers will have an engagement party tomorrow. Be there.”

“Alright, Dad. I’ll come with Paxton—”

Before she could finish what she was saying, her father ended the call without any notice. That's when the door to the bathroom opened and Paxton went out. He was topless, wearing only a towel on his waist to cover his lower part. Water was still dripping from his hair down to his chiseled body.

“Is that your father?” Paxton asked.

Lorelei quickly tilted her head to avoid seeing his body. Although they have been together for two weeks, and even got married twice, nothing happened between them. She’s waiting for him to ask but he doesn't. Maybe Paxton respected her so much that he wasn't asking for it.

“Y-yeah… he said he appreciated your effort in getting the deal,” she replied.

“That’s it?” Paxton chuckled. He couldn't believe that a deal worth $100 million didn't have a great impact on Morgan Marshall. He guessed he underestimated him.

“And he told me to go to my cousin’s engagement party tomorrow,” she added.

Paxton nodded, “Alright, we’ll go there.”

Expensive chandeliers on the ceilings, tables that were carefully arranged with beautiful white roses, and guests who were wearing expensive dresses and suits. The engagement party between Chloe Marshall and Theodore Myers was so grand. It was one of the most-awaited moments of the Marshall family, to get married to a higher family than them.

“Thank you so much for accepting our invitation to our engagement party! We hope you’ll enjoy the night!” Chloe squirmed after hooking her hand on Theodore’s arm.

Each one of the guests went to them and greeted them to bid their congratulations and gifts to the newly engaged couple. Every gift is surprisingly luxurious, competing on which gift is the most expensive.

Paxton and Lorelei went to them as well. Lorelei was holding a paper bag, a gift for them. It wasn't that expensive but she still made an effort to buy a gift for them.

“Congratulations on your engagement, Chloe and Theodore!” Lorelei greeted then propped the paper bag on the table beside them.

Chloe stopped for a while, her forehead wrinkled, trying to figure out who was in front of her.

“I’m sorry. Who are you?” she asked, raising her brow.

“Didn’t you recognize me? I’m Lorelei,” she replied.

Chloe’s eyes widened, then she gasped. “Oh my God! I remembered now how you look without the scars on your face but how?”

Lorelei shrugged and then smiled. “My husband turned out a dermatologist. Maybe we are really destined for each other. He treated my scars,” she said proudly.

But Chloe seemed to not be convinced. Her attention shifted to Paxton who was standing beside Lorelei. Then scanned his suit.

“Oh, that’s really destiny!” she laughed mockingly. “I remembered you. You are the only handsome among the guys who lined up for Lorelei's husband candidate. The toy boy!”

Paxton flashed an awkward smile but Chloe was unsatisfied by it, she wants to see more! Her face screamed in disgust. Her eyes scanned Paxton's suit once again before she lifted up her head to Lorelei.

“You’re beautiful now, but your husband is still poor and doesn't have a sense of fashion! Look at your husband’s suit. It looked so cheap! Just like how trashy he was!”
