Chapter 2

Mauver drove his motorcycle through the road in front of him. In the backseat sat a girl he had just found and was about to be pure-blooded to him. The girl wraps her arms around them, holding tight to his waist. Her hair fluttered as the wind hit.

"Uhm, what was your name? Maurer? Can you slow down? If I die, you will lose your food stock." The girl squealed with a deliberately hardened voice. The wind and noise of the vehicle make any noise sink and inaudible.

Hearing the girl's words, Mauver hit the brakes suddenly. The sound of the tires squealing and the back of the bike slightly rising forced the girl to stick her body closer to him.

"Oh, for whatever is protecting vampires and humans, I beg you to protect me! I still want to live longer, don't want to die silly," the girl said.

Mauver removed the helmet and then glanced into the backseat where the girl was sitting, closing her eyes as proof that she was so scared.

"We've arrived; open your eyes," Mauver said with a smile. The girl opened her eyes slowly, then got off the bike, holding on to Mauver's sturdy shoulders.

"This is your house?" asked the girl, agape in awe of the building in front of her. Mauver nodded. The girl turned her head alternately at Mauver and then looked back in awe at what was seen before her.

For her, the vampires dramatize their lives like the movies she often watches. The building in front of her didn't deserve to be called a castle, as the blue-bloods said.

They may want to look exclusive and creepy. However, to the girl, dark blood was much more mysterious than anything else.

"Please come in, Miss ...."

"Viona."

"Okay, Miss Viona. Please come in," said Mauver kindly, then followed Viona's hesitant steps.

The long-haired girl awkwardly stepped into the modern architecture building. She still can't believe what happened today. It's not just Mauver as a blue-blood who wants to make her his pure blood.

However, no one had ever managed to pull her through the hexagon bulkheads. Mauver was the first and certainly the only one.

From this day on, her life will change because becoming a pure-blood is a fate that somersaults. If she had become pure-blood to a blue-blood, then at any time, it could never belong to another blue-blood.

Even if they cut off their contracts and destiny.

If her destiny is cut off, it's the same as her becoming like a ghost. She doesn't have a protector and can't be possessed by anyone.

Then it's getting easier for dark-blood to turn them into creepy creatures like them because pure-blood who were cut off have no guardians. No human being wants this kind of destiny.

Viona's father once told her how creepy and voracious dark blood was. They can suck and change tens or even hundreds of humans. It's a massive horror.

Her father had been in such terror. That is why he prefers his daughter to be pure blood to get protection from the blue blood.

Humans generally prefer to forever be human instead of pure-blood who was discarded. However, after hearing her father's story, Viona agreed with the middle-aged man.

Being pure-blood is something better.

Viona's steps were stopped. Mauver approached the girl and ascertained if she was okay or if she might have doubts about her choice.

No, this wasn't Viona's or Mauver's choice. Fate chose Viona for Mauver, and vice versa.

"Are you okay?" asked Mauver. The girl looked at him.

"I-I ..." her throat felt like she couldn't say anything.

Mauver sighed, then approached a few steps.

"If you have any doubts, I'll tell you to back off, Viona. Hexagon bulkheads can still be translucent if they have not become pure blood. Go." Mauver smiled.

Indeed he was somewhat disappointed with the doubts that had arisen in the girl's heart—he could read it even more at such a close distance, but it was natural that the girl was afraid.

Imagining she would be a food stock for creatures like them is not a pleasant thing.

She even dreamed of becoming a dark-blood meal. The sensation she felt when those sharp teeth pierced the skin and tore through her veins, singing her shudder every time she remembered it.

"Uhm, no-no. I have no doubt." The girl swallowed her saliva.

Nothing will happen to her. She will only be a food need for Mauver, not others. However, Viona was nervous about her fate which would only satisfy that handsome blue-blood thirst.

Viona raised her head to stare at the man's sea-blue eyes. The beautiful eyes seemed to hypnotize the girl who had doubts about the choice of destiny.

But after that, she scanned Mauver's appearance, which she did not have time to notice at the beginning.

The tall body is firm, with skin that does not look pale. She wondered if Mauver was a vampire. Or is it dark blood in disguise?

Her body shivered suddenly, imagining that the one in front of her was the creature.

"I'm not dark blood. Dark blood doesn't need to rely on destiny to get you. He can penetrate the hexagon on his own merits while I don't," Mauver said after reading what was on the girl's mind.

Viona, the girl, shook her head while frowning. She didn't even know if blue blood could read people's minds.

"I- I... stop reading my mind!" she then turned around and stepped ahead of Mauver, who was now chuckling.

Without any notice from a distance, Mauver and Viona were enjoying dinner. Only Viona enjoys food, like humans in general.

Mauver sat at the tip of an oval table and watched the girl eat dinner.

The figure was still standing sculpted, his gaze sharply aimed at one target, Viona.

That figure knows the power and potential possessed by Mauver that allows him to become stronger with the presence of pure blood.

They aim to thwart his union with the pure-blood, which they always do to young blue-blood, a potential successor to the leadership.

The figure justified his hood and black robe, turned around, then sped away after getting whatever information he needed. He will devise the best plan because blocking Mauver—Aranza's son, who will undoubtedly inherit the potential and strength of the man, is not easy.

A silver glow was occasionally seen emanating from Mauver's body. That's what made the mysterious figure momentarily shudder in horror.

Mauver silently looked at Viona, who was eating whatever was available on the dining table. The man deliberately asks the housekeeper to prepare whatever Viona likes. However, the girl wasn't as greedy as he had imagined. Of course.

"Don't look at me like that," the girl said with a full mouth. At first glance, she glanced at the man looking at her while on his chin.

"I'm just confused; what makes people like to eat food that is not fresh?" replied the man, still in an unchanged position.

Viona squealed. "Don't be silly! It's not unfresh, but it's been processed. It is precisely you who are surprised; eat something liquid and consider its glut. It's like a baby drinking only milk."

Mauver shook his head in response to the girl's cynical attitude.

"You are also strange. You just jumped over the hexagon bulkhead as if willing to be pure-blood, but now your attitude is very cynical. What's wrong with you?" asked Mauver coldly. "I've given you permission to leave if you're not ready."

"Take it easy; I'm not a coward. Oh, and one more, I'm afraid I have to disagree with being pure-blood. You know that we can't determine who our partner is going to be." She continued her activities by eating food that was almost nothing left.

Despite Viona showing an unpleasant attitude, Mauver can still refrain from doing things that are harmful to him.

"Be patient, Mauver. Don't be rash if you don't want your father to get up and strangle you to the point of breaking up," he said.

He let the girl, who then got up from the dining table, walk to her room on the second floor, next to Mauver's room.

The girl entered, locked the door then hid under her blanket. Hoping for tomorrow when she woke up, she found herself at home and was greeted by a warm apple cider made by her mother.

While Mauver hopes that if morning comes, he returns to a time when his father and mother are still accompanying him so that he doesn't have to bear the heavy burden of being blue-blood with the task of destroying dark-blood and ... tame a pure-blood like Viona.
