CHAPTER 6

Gabriel's forehead scrunched in confusion. He couldn't understand what she was implying.

“What do you mean,”? He raised a question.

“Inside, I was fighting for you and here you are celebrating your freedom,” Amelia yelled at him. Gabriel still couldn't understand what they were saying, but his eyes went wide when he finally took hold of the meaning behind their words.

“No, no, listen…,” Gabriel started but stopped when a force collided with his face. His face turned to the side and his eyes brimmed with tears of humiliation, but he refused to let them fall. By now all the guards were watching the free play.

Gabriel's eyes turned hard, and he glared at Olivia. No matter how much they degraded him, he couldn't hit a woman.

“How dare you glare at my mother,” Amelia yelled at him. Before he could say anything, Amelia yelled for guards, and they came towards them.

“Throw this garbage out of the mansion,” Olivia ordered. The guards took hold of Gabriel and started dragging him outside. Gabriel tried to break himself free from their stone clutches, but they didn't let him.

“Leave me,” He yelled at the guards.

“Amelia, listen to me, I can help you with this problem. I will give you the money,” Gabriel said desperately, but she rolled her eyes at him.

“Well, mom, I think you're right. I should marry Mrs. Moretti's son,” Amelia said to Olivia while her eyes were trained on Gabriel.

“Amelia, please, you can't do this. You can't divorce me,” Gabriel said.

"Oh, I can, dear husband. Just watch me,' Amelia taunts him.

“And don't be so happy for your freedom. You are nothing without us,” Amelia further insulted him.

“Bloody dodger,” Amelia let out.

“Take him away,” Olivia ordered. The guards dragged him outside and threw him on the road.

His knees and palms scraped on the hard surface of the road. Hissing, Gabriel pulled his hands and saw they were bleeding. He slowly looked around, and his shoulders fall lifeless at the humiliation. People were talking about him and pointing toward him. Cold sweat glistened on his forehead and he rubbed his clammy hand over it.

Ignoring everyone, Gabriel stood up slowly and took out his phone to call his Grandpa Tony. He answered the call on the second ring.

“Hello, Grandpa Tony,” Gabriel said.

“Hello son,” Grandpa Tony answered cheerfully. A small smile adorned Gabriel's face, feeling the love in his tone.

“Grandpa, can you please tell me which is the nearest company to our family,”? Gabriel inquired.

With all the humiliation, he still couldn't make himself leave Amelia's family in this problem. He wants to help them so that Amelia doesn't have to marry that man.

Gabriel carefully listened to Grandpa Tony, as he was narrating to him the address. With a thank you, Gabriel cut the call and speed up to the company on his old scooter.

Parking up his scooter, Gabriel gazed astonishingly at the tall skyscraper building before him. His mouth was wide open, as he took in the building. The architecture of the building was mind-blowing.

Gabriel was still in a daze when he heard a familiar yet mocking voice from behind. Turning around, he came face to face with his high school classmate, Kyle. A genuine smile adorned Gabriel's lips as he gazes at Kyle.

Kyle got out of his expensive car and dusted his suit. Gabriel watched as he went to the other side and helped a girl out of the car.

Gabriel couldn't help but grimaced at the sight of the girl. She is wearing a black lace dress, that is too short for his liking, and her face is caked with makeup. Her aura screams money and arrogance.

“Oh hey, Gabriel, right,”? Kyla said taking off his glasses.

“Hello Kyle, long time, no see,” Gabriel said politely.

“Ah yes, business and shit. You know how packed our routines are,” Kyla said tauntingly. Gabriel sensed the mockery in his tone, but choose to ignore it.

“Of course,” Gabriel offered him a small smile.

“What are you doing here,”? Kyla asked Gabriel. His eyes narrowed at his scooter.

“Well, you know this place is not for everyone,” Kyle told him arrogantly.

“Yeah, I was just…,” Gabriel started but was cut off by the girl.

“Oh God, he is so dumb,” she whispered, not so quietly, to Kyle. They both snickered at him. Gabriel shifted from one side to another. He started picking his skin. A habit he has adopted in the past years living with the Romano's.

Gabriel was looking at them in disgust when Kyle noticed it and smirked, thinking he is jealous of his beautiful girlfriend.

“Ah, sorry, I forgot to introduce you guys,” Kyle said and wrap his arm around his girlfriend's waist.

“She's Sasha, my girlfriend, and Sasha, he is Gabriel, a nobody,” Kyle introduced and burst out laughing.

Gabriel and Kyle were classmates in high school. Where Kyle was in the famous group with other rich students, Gabriel was a total nerd. Although he was the sole heir of his business, always kept his identity low-key. He doesn't like the attention. His score was A+ in all his academics. Kyle has always been Jealous of him. He and his friends would always pick on him.

“Yeah… I can see that,” Sasha said with a bored tone. She snickered at Gabriel and his scooter.

“Nice scooter Gabriel, but I think you don't know that this is a private parking,” Kyle taunts him.

“Oh honey, how will he know,” Sasha laughed.

“He means it's only for cars, not carts,” Sasha said in a sick tone, pointing towards his scooter.

Kyle and Sasha went towards his scooter and started examining it like it was some filth.

“EW, how can someone ride on this shit,”? Sasha scrunched her nose in distaste.

“Look at the sluch in the tires,” She further denigrated.

They started throwing affronts at him and shoved his scooter to the floor.

“Oooops,” Sasha whispered. They chortle and faced Gabriel.

“I'm the Senior Manager in this company. Trust me, you would rather not mess with me,” Kyle menaced him.
