26. Not a Saint

[“Your due date is today. Pay your debts or you’ll have your head chop off.”]

Jacob held his neck as he read the text message from his debtors. He did his best to find money to pay for his loans from gambling. But still, it wasn’t enough.

‘If I could not pay them, I might really die!’ he worried.

It was then Jacob remembered the car accident yesterday. When he saw the expensive car, he purposely tailgated it, thinking that it would bring him fast money.

‘But until now, they haven’t contacted me!’ Jacob complained inwardly while biting his nail and staring at his phone screen. ‘I can still remember the plate number. Should I call the police and report them?’

But if he reported them and the police reviewed the CCTV, they would find out that Jacob was at fault.

‘Sh*t!’ he cursed silently. He only came to work because it is payday. But Jacob was so scared that the loan shark would find him here.

‘What should I do?’ Jacob, who was so eager to find money as soon as possible,
