5. Plan to Live Together

Lucas easily drove the luxury sedan to the Ravensville residence. The location of the house was not difficult. It was in an elite residential complex with the most striking, spacious, and luxurious houses.

"I don't know much about you so far, Ethan. You're like a new person to me," Laura expressed, still watching her husband, who had somehow turned more handsome than before —According to what Laura remembered.

"I'm sorry, Laura. It's not that I haven't been keeping up with you, but my work has made it difficult for me to find spare time. Mr. Tony is always giving me work to do," Ethan replied.

He wanted to get rid of the suspicion in Laura's head about him as much as possible. If Laura knew he was one of the best generals in the world, she might feel inferior to his status.

Ethan Flynn, one of the best generals in the world, with a distinctive nickname of God of War for his ability to understand the battlefield and win it. Many wars in the world have ended with victory on Ethan's side.

This made his wealth abundant because of the services he provided. In a way, Ethan rented out the services of his intelligence and knowledge in his mind to help wars elsewhere.

"Didn't you go abroad to join the military?" asked Laura. Ethan cleared his throat.

"So, what's your current position?" asked Laura, curious.

"I became a middle officer, tasked to be an assistant and aide to General Tony Blair," said Ethan, smiling.

"So, Tony Blair is an overseas general. Am I right?" asked Laura.

Ethan rubbed Laura's cheek, saying confidently that Tony Blair was indeed an overseas general, the best general Prestige Tower had.

"Because of a few things that happened, he decided to assign me to my country, Esseth," Ethan replied.

"You came here not only to attend Raven's shareholder meeting but to fulfill your new duties, right?" asked Laura.

Laura's husband was amazed at Laura's sensitivity and intelligence; a woman like her should not be wasted just because of the family's ambition to marry her to the Heir of Hammington.

Ethan cast his eyes forward again, watching the sedan Lucas was driving pull into the luxury housing compound. Laura realized that this car was getting closer to her house.

"After I pack my things, where will we live?" Laura asked, curious.

"It probably won't be as luxurious as the Ravensville residence, but it'll be enough for us to live there. Mr. Tony has already bought an apartment in the city center," Ethan replied.

"Alright. I'll do what you say since you're my husband," Laura revealed, smiling with relief that she could finally live alone with Ethan away from the Ravensville residence.

The man beside Laura returned Laura's smile with a happy heart. He was determined not to let Laura get hurt again. Ten years of relentless torture from his own family was enough.

Arriving in front of the three-meter-high iron gate, Laura immediately asked the guards to open the door. The guards did so, allowing the black sedan to enter.

Not only that car, but nine cars accompanied the group. The presence of ten brand-new luxury sedans in front of the Ravensville residence left the occupants confused.

Ethan felt nostalgic when he returned to the house. At that time, he was still poor and devastated because the Flynn family was no longer considered a prominent family in Lancaster.

But Ethan came back to the residence with a different status and wealth, and he might even be able to buy the residence from Ravensville and throw the people inside out onto the street as homeless people.

"What's going on in Raven, Laura?" asked a woman, coming from the room's balcony wearing her sleeping pajamas.

Laura raised her eyes. It was her sister-in-law, Thomas Ravensville's wife. Clara Ashton did not come from a prominent family, but she was indeed a famous singer throughout Esseth.

Beautiful looks, slim body, blonde hair, fair skin, and a friendly personality. Among the occupants in that place, Clara was probably the one who had always been kind to Laura.

"Why are you hiding your identity from Laura, Sir? Isn't she your wife?" asked Lucas, having overheard Ethan and Laura's conversation.

"I don't want her to feel like she owes me. Just let her know that I'm just an officer," Ethan replied.

"But one day, you'll tell her the truth, right?" asked Lucas.

Ethan was still in his car, sighing and clearing his throat, agreeing with Lucas' words. However, Ethan would do that if all his plans were completed.

The man opened the car door, getting out with such authority that Clara's attention was briefly diverted to the front, staring at the figure of a man in a suit getting out of the same sedan as Laura.

Clara tried to narrow her eyes, focusing her gaze. To her surprise, the man who stepped out of the car was Ethan Flynn, Laura's husband of ten years.

"Ethan?" asked Clara, shocked.

"Long time no see, Clara. I still hear some of your latest songs," Ethan revealed, not being rude to Clara.

"Really? Out of all my new songs, which one is your favorite?" asked Clara, sounding enthusiastic when she found out Ethan was one of her fans.

"Moonlight on the sea. I think the melody and your distinctive voice blend very well together," Ethan praised.

"Ah. I did enjoy making that song," Clara replied, smiling while still looking ahead to Ethan, "Come inside. We can talk about many things in there."

Ethan was silent, watching Clara go into her room. Laura herself had entered the residence earlier, stepping into her room to retrieve all her belongings.

Lucas was still waiting by the sedan, watching the splendor of the Ravensville residence. He hadn't expected Ethan's family-in-law to be wealthy and influential in Lancaster.

Ethan walked into the house. The house door opened, revealing the Ravensville residence full of luxurious furniture and expensive paintings. Liam was a typical person who liked paintings, whether foreign or domestic artists.

"I didn't expect your arrival at the shareholders' meeting to have such a big impact," expressed Clara, walking down the spiral staircase, still in the same clothes.

"Did you see it?" asked Ethan, curious.

Clara cleared her throat as she showed him her phone. She said she saw the proceedings of the Ravensville shareholders' meeting through a live broadcast on social media.

"I was only doing my job, relaying a message from Tony Blair about his wishes," Ethan revealed.

"I know. You made it very clear on the broadcast. This is the first time I've ever seen my husband get so angry," Clara explained.

"Are you mad at me for that?" asked Ethan, standing behind the door with a stern look in his eyes.

Clara put her phone in her pants pocket, shaking her head as she walked over to Ethan. Now, the famous female singer in Esseth was standing right before Ethan.

"I can't be mad about it, considering I wasn't harmed, but I don't like it," Clara replied.

"A singer just needs to sing. Why bother with business matters like this. Am I right?" asked Ethan.

Clara snapped her fingers, completely agreeing with what Ethan had said. She was only focused on her actress career, not at all bothered by the happenings at the Raven.

Even if reporters were hounding her to interview Clara about the events at Raven, she would give a statement that didn't harm anyone, either herself or her family-in-law.

"You're right. I just need to make money with my current career. However, if you interfere with my career, I will be furious and hate you," Clara threatened.

"I'm not in the mood for that. I have more important things to do," Ethan replied.

Not long after the conversation, Laura arrived with two suitcases filled with clothes, make-up, and other things precious to her. Clara turned to the side, gasping to see Laura walking while pulling the suitcases.

"Where are you going?" asked Clara, curious.

"From now on, I'll be living with Ethan. Please tell Mom and Dad that I'll be living with my husband," Laura pleaded.

"Oh my. You want to create new problems, huh? The cooperation between Hammington and Ravensvile could be ruined if you leave here," Clara complained, crossing her arms.

"I know, but Ethan is still my husband. I love him and want to live with him, away from here," Laura replied.

Clara turned her eyes back to the front, staring at Ethan, who had somehow convinced Laura to leave. Even though her family had often abused Laura, Laura was still firm in her principles.

"What did you promise her that she would obey you?" asked Clara coldly.

"Just a promise of protection from a husband to his wife. I won't let Laura get hurt again."
