Chapter One Hundred and Eight - Collapse

Jason and Connor had arrived at the apartment, and it was now late in the evening.

Jason walked into the living room to see Connor finishing a plate of spaghetti.

“I thought you’d never wake up. I left you a plate in the fridge in case you’re hungry,” Connor said to Jason as he scarfed down what was left on his plate.

“Thank you,” Jason said as he sat on the couch with him, “And not just for the food, for everything; you’ve been very generous with me these past few days, Connor. When they pay me, I’ll have to return the favour.”

“You mean if they pay you?" Connor said, putting emphasis on the ‘if.

“What do you mean?” Jason asked.

“I mean, they might not keep you there. Danny’s got his eye on you, and that’s not a good sign. When he doesn’t like someone, it means their days are numbered,” Connor explained.

The realisation hit Jason. He obviously didn’t care about the salary, but if he was fired now, his plan would fail.
