Chapter Two Hundred & Seventy-Five

They finished packaging everything in the car.

“ Can I talk to you for a while?” Paula asked, as she flipped her hair to her back.

“ Sure,” Melanie answered.

They walked inside the house.

“ I wanted to properly apologize to you about what happened between Jamal and me, I know you still resent me but I am here now to say I am sorry for the pain I caused you and your family”

Melanie was not expecting that to come out in that manner. They had stayed quiet while packaging the things they needed for vacation. No words or laughter were exchanged. They minded their business.

“ It is fine, apology accepted” She smiled at her, it was genuine.

“ Can I get a hug?” Paula asked

Melanie pulled her into a hug.

“ We are going to go late, ladies,” Jamal shouted from the window. He had been watching them. He wanted to let them be but they were running out of time.

They got into the car. He drove them to a resort. He got down and opened the car door for them.

“ Such a beautiful place to be in” M
