CHAPTER 14: Unwavering Determination

[Ivan Murong’s Cell]

Ivan sat against a wall, staring up into the ceiling. He brooded in deep thought, thinking of his wife. Her beautiful smile. Her long green hair, accompanied by her enchanting eyes. He thought about the day he first met her.

It had been sunny, no signs of rain to stop the trade deal that Ivan had planned. This was one of the first deals he had done since opening up Dwarven resources to humankind.

He remembered the rain falling down, wetting both their outfits as they both blushed. She had been the first to make a move, kissing him under the moonlight.

A single tear rolled down his face. “Gwentyn…”

“Fufufu!” A voice echoed through the cell, interrupting his sadness.

He whipped his head straight in front of him where Banderd stood on the outside of the cell, smiling. “What do you want?” Ivan looked down, refusing to give Banderd the respect of eye contact.

“Hmph. I just came to see my precious younger brother on his last day and give you some reassurance.” Bande
