Turning point

Last night's party was a bang, I had so much fun. I enjoyed myself so much that I didn't bother to come home until the early hours of this morning. I knew my parents were going to give me a handful during breakfast, so I stayed in bed and slept in.

After quite a while, I heard my parents car pull up from the driveway. Taking that as my cue, I get up from my bed and head to the kitchen to have my breakfast.

Today's probably about to be the best day of my life because I remember my parents telling about some business trip this weekend. I couldn't be any happier, I'll have the whole weekend to myself -not to talk of the whole house.

Taking out my phone, I called my friends to ask if they could come over to hang at my house today. They all agreed and settled for 1:30pm.

Finishing my breakfast, I head to the bathroom to take my bath and in no time I was ready. I decide to keep myself busy by watching television while waiting for my friends.

At 1:30 sharp, my doorbell rings. I opened the door to reveal the most awesome friends in the universe - to me at least.

"Hey guys, what's popping? "

"You're seriously asking me that? " Jason says with a small scowl on his face.

I shrug my shoulders in response to that and lead them into the living room. Entering the living room, my Evan's  mouth hung open.

"Dude, you live here! "

"It's so cool! "

Watching Evan and Carl drooling over the living room, I wonder what they'd do when they saw my bedroom.

"Are you guys done yet? " I say amidst laughter.

"Come on you two, you're embarrassing me" Jason tries to bring them back from their trance.

"Wait, how come you're not fazed by this magnificent piece of art" Carl asks Jason.

"Because I've been here before, duh?"

"You're so mean Cole. You've brought Jason here before and not us?! " Evan and Carl both cried.

"Relax guys, Jason's only been here once -when we're still in grade school "

"Oh- but that doesn't still count"

"Whatever, let's get this show on the road people!"

I lead them into my bedroom and the reaction I got from Evan and Carl was to die for. I cleared my throat to get their attention and well, it worked. They looked at me as if I had grown horns, they couldn't believe that they were in my house.

"Dude, your bedroom is way bigger than my entire house combined " Evan half yelled.

"Uhn, can't you at least act a little bit civilized Evan? " Jason tells Evan with a disgusted face.

"Haha, in case you haven't noticed civilization is not in my dictionary" Evan retorts placing his hands on Jason's shoulders.

I couldn't help myself as the laughter I was fighting to hold burst through me. This friends of mine were the only ones in the world who had the ability to make life as fun as possible.

I made for the kitchen to get some snacks for us_but not before taking a look at these friends of mine. Carl was still gawking and Evan was whispering something in Jason's ear making him blush hard. Mentally smiling to myself, I said 'yep, these guys are definitely the best in the world', before I head to the kitchen.

<time skip>

We were done eating our snacks and already in the game room playing a video game. The competition was tough but the game lord that I am, I aced them. I had to admit that Carl did give me a really good chase for the  crown cos he was equally good but I was better than him.

I was already getting bored from the game and I could see that the guys were too, so I came up with a suggestion.

"Hey guys, I have a great idea why don't we go clubbing tonight "

"What? "

"Aren't your parents gonna be mad at you? "

"Nope, they won't cos they're out of town "

"Wow, I'm so jealous. I wish my parents could do that too" Carl said.

"As much as I'd love to, I'mma have to pass" Evan said.

"Seriously Evan, this is like the first time you'd ever pass on something such as a party"

"Whatever, I just have some stuffs I wanna take care of tonight"

"Oh... OK"

I have to admit I was a bit disappointed but then again, who was I to complain. I did ditch them once so it's only natural that they'd eventually ditch me too. I could only nod my head in understanding and call it a night.

I walk them to the front door and bid them goodbye. The look they gave me could have been the 'I'm so sorry' look but I wasn't buying it. I knew these guys like the back of my palm_ or that's what I think.

When I couldn't handle the look on their faces, I shooed them away and closed the door. Well... this wasn't a bad way to have spent the day, was it?

Anyway, how would I know. I look at the huge clock that hung on the wall in the living room and it read 7:30pm. Hmm, it was way too early to go to bed so I decided to watch television.

Turning it on, the first thing that came into view was a news channel with the headline about a plane crash that happened earlier today.

That wouldn't have freaked me, but what caught my attention was the name of the airline. Feeling my heart sink deeper and deeper, I silently prayed to the being above that there were survivors. And then BOOM, 'report has it that there were no survivors........ '

That one statement crushed every little hope I had left. And that...was... just...the... beginning.
