The Descendent - Part 3

Rin was forced to get the Grimoire but he had no idea why the man himself didn't do it.

Although he was told that the book would choose the one who was worthy enough to it, he felt as if this was some random joke.

'Tsk, I guess I have to trust him for the time being...', Rin was still suspecting him after all he was just a stranger.

"..."

But he let go of all those thoughts and concentrated on what stood in front of him.

'The cage... or perhaps barrier...'

'How do I break it?', that was the biggest question.

He did hit earlier with all of his strength due to which a crack did appear, but he had no idea if he had to do the same again.

He took a look at the spot where the small crack was present.

'Hmm, I guess I should try hitting this spot with some sturdy material...', he decided and then looked around.

The man was confused as to what he was doing. He wanted to see how Rin would break the barrier since he believed that he could break it.

But never in his wildest dreams could he have imagined Rin bringing a steel chair in order to break the barrier.

'Is he for real? He is trying to break the greatest barrier of all kind with just a chair?', he had a surprised expression on his face.

'Bam'

It was futile, Rin swung the chair with all his might but despite that, nothing happened to the barrier.

"Boy, are you really trying to break that with those things?", the man ended up asking.

Rin paused right after hearing that. He was already frustrated by the fact that he had to do something bothersome, and now the man had started to ask tons of things.

"Then what should I do?", Rin asked.

He wanted to know for sure the method of breaking the barrier and he thought that the man must certainly know about it.

The man watched Rin dedicated look of knowing the answer however he never knew in the first place.

"I have no idea!", that was all he could say.

'Damn...'

'He doesn't know anything!', Rin thought in his mind.

"Well, but I guess you should try using your own strength to break it...", the man shook his black cloak while saying this.

'Is that all...'

'You want me to break the so-called barrier with my own strength?', Rin thought in his mind.

But he could clearly recall that earlier it was his own fist that had helped him in causing a crack so just maybe he could do it with his fist yet again.

Rin was indeed not a pushover in terms of strength. In fact, he was probably one of the strongest boys in his age group.

However, despite that, he took all the bullying from the bullies and why was that?

The reason was quite simple, he never realized that he was that strong.

In fact, his parents always told him and taught him not to raise his hands on others. It seemed as if those were the only lessons he remembered and perhaps that was why he was subconsciously thinking that he was the weakest.

No wonder his body used to heal quite quickly which was monstrous when compared to others.

"Just trust yourself...", the man said this in order to encourage him.

However, Rin didn't care. All he wanted was the knowledge or news about his parents and brother which the man was speaking about.

He didn't have anything to lose in the first place so he went along with what the man said.

He clenched his fist and withdrew his arm a bit back. Then he concentrated on the same crack by focusing his gazes at that exact particular spot.

"Hya!"

He punched the same place with all his might while giving out a shout.

'Bam'

His punch hit the target accurately. His power was also concentrated in a particular area causing his punch to be much more effective.

'Creak'

'Crack'

The small crack that had been formed got bigger just after the punch.

"Yes!", it was a sign of victory for the boy because now he knew that for some reason the barrier was being damaged with just his punches.

Although he also got hurt and felt the pain when his fist collided with the barrier, the joy of succeeding made the pain fade away.

"Alright!"

"One more time!"

He pulled his arm back again and punched the same place with all his might which led to the widening of the crack.

He continued to punch again and again and each time he punched, the crack would just get larger and larger.

Just by seeing that Rin was sure that his hard work was paying off and soon enough the crack would become large enough to cause the barrier to collapse and probably Rin was waiting for that very moment.

'Unbelievable...'

'I thought that it was some damn luck...'

'But look at this occurrence...'

The man was completely shocked. He didn't even know what to think anymore.

Just because a person is chosen by the book doesn't mean that he would be able to break the barrier and pass it to get the book.

It would take one's whole lifetime to break the barrier cast by the strongest mage and of course, it wouldn't be possible to break it without using magic or some legendary artifact.

However, right now, the person was seeing Rin causing heavy damage to the barrier with just his body.

'This is really a joke isn't it?', the man thought.

'How can a normal human do that!?'

'No, wait... I guess he might really be the descendant and inherited of that book...'

'But even if he is the descendant... it's impossible to break the barrier just with his physical body!'

'Bam'

'Creak'

'Crack'

'Shatter'

The entire barrier shattered into pieces and made the sound that was synonymous with a glass shattering.

"Just who the heck are you...?"
