Chapter 9

"Why were you speaking so negatively about Daniel?" Lord Wilson asked.

"I was angry, why did he come here? he wants to take advantage of us and you don't see that." Jules answered.

"Jules! What are you saying? Don't speak like that!" Lord Wilson said.

"Why are we even talking about Daniel? He has nothing to do with us" Jules said.

"You don't have to talk like that!" Lord Wilson said.

"He is a stranger!" Jules argued.

" He's not a stranger , his parents and I were very good friends. I consider him as my son, therefore he is like a brother to you" Lord Wilson said.

"But you don't have to treat him like that!" Samira said.

"Leave this topic!" Lord Wilson ordered them.

The atmosphere became tense in the dining room.

The lord left the dinning room angry, his wife followed him.

Before leaving, she turned to her children and told them "be polite to your father" She blamed them.

" Mom, I didn't do anything, talk to Samira and Jules instead" Aris defended himself.

A week later, Daniel and Lisa were waiting for the elevator.

"I wonder if he is here" Daniel said.

"Yeah! Me too!" Lisa agreed.

"Maybe he will arrive today" Daniel guessed.

"Yeah! Let's hope!" Lisa said.

They entered the elevator and pressed the button for the sixth floor.

Soon enough, the doors opened.

Daniel and Lisa were surprised to see who was standing there.

"Hello! How can I help you?" the man asked.

"Hello! My name is Daniel Ochieng Biao" Daniel introduced himself.

"And who are you?" the man asked.

"My colleague's name is Lisa Kanyi" Daniel answered.

" What are you doing here" Mr. Taylor asked arrogantly.

"We are here because we want to talk to you about a contract" Daniel answered.

"I have a meeting in five minutes. I'm not interested in talking to you right now. Go away!" Mr. Taylor said.

"Uhh?! But..." Lisa said.

"Fine! I'll call the police!" the man said.

Daniel and Lisa were shocked by this behavior.

"Call the police? What are you going to do? We're not here to hurt you!" Daniel said.

"I don't care!" Mr. Taylor said." If you don't go now, I'll call the guards to kick you out" .

"That was crazy! What is wrong with that guy? Why did he behave like that?" Lisa asked.

"Don't worry about him. He must be stressed out over work" Daniel said.

The two of them got into the car and drove back to their office.

They were both tired from the flight and the stress they had experienced earlier.

"Maybe we should take a nap" Daniel said.

"Yeah! I'm exhausted!" Lisa agreed.

They went back to the office and took a short nap.

Daniel was in the computer room working on the project.

He was running some tests to make sure everything worked fine.

Suddenly, he received a message from Lisa:

"Hey! Are you busy?"

" Let's go to lunch together. I miss you!"

He hurry up and respond!

"Yeah!" Daniel responded.

"Okay! See ya!" Lisa said.

"See ya" Daniel answered.

Daniel and Lisa went to the restaurant near their office. They ordered and ate lunch.

The food was delicious.

Afterwards, they headed back to the office.

Daniel was stressed, he was thinking about how they were going to get this contract. And also, who wished him harm and wanted to see him fired from Black Panther Products. He had to investigate it.

Daniel was in his office making plans for the next day. Suddenly, he heard a knock at his door.

"Come in!" Daniel said.

The door open and the hencher walked inside.

"Mr. Ochieng Biao! Can I ask you something?" the man asked.

"Of course! What can I do for you?" Daniel asked.

"I just wanted to know Where are you on this contract? Is everything okay?" the man asked curiously.

" Why did you entrust us with this contract when you know it's impossible for us to have it?" Daniel asked intrigued.

" Because , this is a test for you . If you do well, I know that I could trust you, but if you don't, well, I will know that you are incapable and therefore that you have no place in this business." The hencher said this with such ease that you could believe he was sincere, obviously Daniel did not believe a word of what he had just said, he was not fooled .

"You want to fire me?" Daniel asked.

"If necessary!" the man answered.

"What makes you think we won't succeed? " Daniel asked.

"Because I know you! I've been following you since you came here. You are very ambitious, and you don't give up easily. But you're inexperienced and lack experience. Do you understand?"

"Who are you? Why do you want me fired?" Daniel asked.

"You already know!" the man answered.

Daniel didn't answer.

He was waiting for an explanation.

After a moment the hencher continued:

"I am Paul Edward Dube. I'm one of director for Black Panther Products. You know my reputation, you may have heard about it. And you also know that I want to see you fired, but you don't know why. This is why I brought you here" the man said.

"Is that all?" Daniel asked.

"No! There is more!" the hencher answered.

Daniel still remained silent and waited for the rest of the story.

Paul started again: "Do you remember that I told you that I have been following you from the time you got here? Well, I have watched the way you work. You are very good at what you do. That is why I chose you for this assignment." he was lying so well.

Daniel did not believe him. He thought that the man was just trying to trick him.

At that moment, the hencher's phone rang, he greeted Daniel and then left. 

After he left, Daniel reflected on what he had told him and what had happened at the dinner with the Wilson family and had his inkling of who wanted to see him fired from the company Black Panther Products.
