CHAPTER 8

"I'm sorry father, but there is no way you're gonna outsmart me. As a matter of fact, I already come up with the plan B!" Vincent boasted, he pointed his gun at the switch behind his father and the lights turned off.

He used this opportunity to escape, since he knew exactly the route of his house. Bringing nothing except his clothes.

Vincent has lived a lavish life under his father but he never wished for it. He felt he was a normal person since he does not know what it feels like to have a social life. All he knew is to run a business and manage their own affairs. The moment he stepped outside, he would have to abandon his old life and start a new one. With the knowledge of the dark website, he has access to all the illegal activities of his father and it will be useful to him as he exposed him.

Upon digging, Vincent realizes that his father has done more complex works than he could never imagine. In his mind, the illegal activities have to stop before his father takes over the Atlanta. However, as we were passing by the street of Colobuza, Mr. Gonzales happened to recognize him. Unfortunately for Vincent, Mr. Gonzales holds a grudge against his father and he considered him the biggest threat for his family.

He returned back his car and intentionally hit Vincent when he saw nobody was around the area. He rushed Vincent to the hospital he owned, bribed the doctor who agreed to manipulate the record, thereby covering up for Mr. Gonzales and declared it was the fault of Vincent.

Mr. Gonzales wanted the doctor to kill Vincent as he feared that he would be a great threat to his businesses. But the doctor has a conscience and said that he needs to examine Vincent first before he could make his move because based on the lab results, Vincent's brain was fractured and there might be a chance that he already lost his memories.

They waited for two days before Vincent regained his consciousness and upon opening his eyes, he no longer remembered his name nor did he remember anything aside from that. He leaned his half body and sat on his bed, he turned to his right side where the doctor and Mr. Gonzales were watching.

"Who are you and where am I?" he asked in wonder.

The doctor lied through his teeth and gave Vincent a false scenario about what happened to him. "You have been hit by a car two months ago and that person ran away. Based on the initial investigation, there was no lead suspect yet. Have you recall someone who might have done that to you?"

Even though the doctor knew that Vincent might already lose his memory, he still asked the question to ensure that his assumptions were true. It took more than a couple of minutes for Vincent to answer.

"Hold on a sec, I tried to remember anything from the past but I could not remember anything... not even my name!"

Mr. Gonzales smirked, he wants to save Vincent's life out of pity as he was confident that it would take a million years before he can regain his memory.

"Your name is Marco and you don't have any more family left. And I am the one who saved your life!" he said. "But there is no need for you to thank me. I spared your life simply because it's normal to help others who are in great danger, Marco!"

"Marco is my name?"

"That is right. Anyhow, you can now restart your own journey and find another place to live in!" continued Mr. Gonzales, "there is nothing to worry about, you will not be paying the hospital bill anymore and you can wear your new clothes I bought for you!"

Vincent looked at the table and saw that there were new clothes sitting on the table. He stood up and asked the doctor.

"I have to go now, although I am not sure where to go. Is there any chance that I can regain my memory?"

The doctor flew a frustrated breath. "In as much as I'd like, I cannot give you a false hope Marco. There is a high possibility that it will take more than years before you can regain your memory!"

Marco curled his lips and frowned. "Is there a way to help me regain my memory?" he asked again the doctor, still hoping to get some positive answer.

"I hope you don't get offended but based on your laboratory results, the fracture in your brain is too complex and there is no indication that it would return to normal. There is no other choice except to wait until one year and you can return here to see if there is progress!"

Marco closed his eyes and as he tried to force his brain to remember anything, he couldn't.

"Marco don't force yourself to remember anything. There might be a chance that your situation will get worse!" warns the doctor.

Marco collapsed on the ground due to severe headaches. The doctor looked at him with awe.

"Are you concerned with that man? If you are, then you should help him stand up!" said Mr. Gonzales.

"I am... however, contrary to what I've said to him earlier, he needs to stay here for a little while. Though, I am still thankful that you spared his life Mr. Gonzales!"

"Don't get me wrong, the only reason why I did that is because I have no intention of dumping his body. It will be problematic to me!"

"Hang on, what would I do with him, Mr. Gonzales? Is he going to stay here?"

"There is no reason for him to stay here. We've created a false memory and lied about his true name. I guess there's nothing to worry about it. Unless of course, you wanted to experiment his body or make profit from it, in that case feel free to do whatever the hell you want with him!" answered Mr. Gonzales.
