“What the fuck are you doing?” Max yelled suddenly as the secretary was about to say a word. “How dare you talk like that to our clients? And so? What if I didn’t give them an appointment? Did you call me to ask?”
“I’m so sorry sir, I just thought they were here to beg you for orders.”
Actually, Majestic group was just like a collaboration but the main company was one of the biggest companies in the city of Seattle. So, orders are always released at a specific time of the year and most people or companies would do everything to have a share in it.
“I’m really going to compensate you for this!” Max snapped angrily and looked at Adonis. “I’m so sorry sir, I assure you that this won’t happen again.”
“Well, you shouldn’t be apologising to me, you should be apologising to her,” Adonis gestured to Aubrey.
Max looked at Aubrey and smiled. “I assure you that it would never happen again because she’s either going to get suspended or sacked! I will do anything to make sure you feel comfortable.”
Aubrey was shocked. She doesn’t even know Max and they have not come across each other. So, she didn’t know why he was treating her with so much respect.
“Please, don’t sack me!” The secretary beseeched softly but the dirty stare that Max sent across to her shit her up, maybe for life.
“Please, let's discuss this in my office,” he invited and started ahead.
Aubrey released a sigh even though she was still uncomfortable. She turned towards Adonis. “Let’s go. It looks like this will turn out well.”
Adonis shook his head briefly. “Mr. Max seems to like you at first sight. I think you will be able to do this on your own.”
Aubrey nodded briefly and followed Max. Adonis's phone rang suddenly. It was Finn.
Adonis moved out to answer the call. “Hello Finn, is anything wrong?”
“I have news about David’s family already. Like we wanted them to be, they are in Seattle for the funeral. Another thing is that he’s so hooked up with the funeral that he has fewer guards at his place. Though, it feels a bit weird.” He observed.
Adonis thought for a moment. “ Find out where he lives, particularly his eldest daughter. We need to move very fast,” he informed him.
“Alright boss but Nick is around already.”
Adonis sighed. “I thought I told him to leave. Why is he here again?”
“He wouldn't leave here,” he informed him.
Adonis released an exasperated sigh. “I don’t know when I will come around because I have a lot to do here,” he explained.
“Alright boss.”
.
Max led Aubrey to the chair respectfully. “Would you care for a coffee or anything?”Aubrey was shocked for a moment. “No, I mean let’s discuss why we are here.”
It doesn’t make sense that she would be requesting something to drink when she had a matter to settle with him.
“Do you want to purchase some of our orders?” Aubrey nodded briefly. “ Then there’s no reason to worry. You should have something to drink. Tea or coffee?”
Aubrey let out a sigh. “Tea will do just fine.”
Max walked to his table and placed a call to whoever. It didn’t take long when a soft knock sounded on the door and a girl walked inside with a cup of tea.
Aubrey just didn’t understand Alex and things were moving faster before she could process it.
After the girl had left, Aubrey still couldn’t drink the tea.
“So, how much do you think I should issue?” He asked suddenly, shocking Aubrey for another moment. She blinked again. What does Max mean by that? “I can actually start with 10 million worth of orders,” he announced suddenly.
Aubrey’s mouth went wide with shock. “Why?”
Max misread the expression on her face. “You don’t want that? Too low? I will increase it to 20 million dollars.”
Aubrey almost stopped breathing. She hasn’t expected to even easily get 10 million dollars worth of orders from Max because they weren’t familiar. In fact, Aubrey had been taking the whole discussion on her mind and hoped that Max would even decide to trust her with 5 million worth of orders. She knew that Everleigh would be happy even if it was little as long as it was from the Majestic group.
“Not good?” Max held her expression for a moment. “I will-,” he started again but Aubrey cut in immediately.
“That’s actually good, sir. I will take it,” Aubrey agreed.
Everleigh would almost run mad when she hears the news. At least, she would accept Adonis and let her be. And Aubrey would think of a perfect time to pull out of the fake relationship she was in.
Max smiled. “Ok, deal then. Can you drink the tea? Then we can finalise it?”
Aubrey nodded briefly with a smile tugging at her lips. She was too overjoyed. In fact, she couldn’t wait to inform Adonis about the news. With this thought in her head, she sipped the tea slowly.
After signing the necessary documents, Aubrey walked out of the company. Adonis was waiting by the car, with a smile plastered across his face as if encouraging her.
“You won’t believe this, Adonis? I got 20 million dollars worth of orders!” She announced to him.
Adonis feigned surprise. “Really? I knew you could do it.”
Aubrey sighed at this and entered the passenger’s seat. Adonis entered the driver’s side.
“But I didn’t do anything really, I mean it looked like we already knew each other from somewhere. Something isn’t right,” she observed.
“Well, all that matters is securing an order.”
Aubrey nodded briefly and smiled again. “Let’s go tell grandmother about the news.”
Her phone vibrated suddenly and she pulled it out from the bag and stared at the screen. “What! Kevin Laurier is dead?”
Adonis glanced at her and feigned ignorance. “Who is Kevin?”
“My other prospective husband...Grandmother wanted me to marry him before Zayn showed his interest to me.”
Adonis smiled softly. “Seriously?” Aubrey nodded briefly as she read through the news. “How did this even happen?” She murmured in concern. Adonis shrugged briefly and concentrated on the way ahead. It was none of his concern anyway. They arrived home and because they were a bit delayed at the company, Everleigh, Anna and Zyaire were already back from work. Aubrey got down and held the contract so tight with excitement. She waited for Adonis to get down so they could enter the living room together. “Looks like someone is back from work,” Zyaire muttered thickly. Aubrey ignored him and moved closer to Everleigh. “Hi grandmother, I have good news for you!” She announced happily. Everleigh regarded her for a moment, with a dark expression. “Are you here to show me your marriage certificate.” “Good day, ma’am,” Adonis greeted but Everleigh ignored him. Aubrey sighed and stretched out the file with her. “Check it out, and you will see what I mean.” Everleigh regarded it for a mom
Aubrey already accepted what Everleigh had said concerning the fact that it was Zayn that got the contract for them but she didn’t want to let them know she had the same doubt in her mind. She wanted to give it all it takes to stop the family from requesting for her to marry a rich man.“But grandmother, you gave us your word. You are supposed to approve Adonis as my husband,” Aubrey protested.“Like I said Aubrey, I’m not going to give him credit for something that Zayn did. Just get prepared because you will marry Zayn soon,” she finished up and walked away.Anna laughed. “Very funny. I didn’t think you were this crafty. You would actually try to pinch someone's achievement on another? That’s actually too bad.”“I told you mom, that his good-for-nothing husband has nothing to his name,” he laughed again and walked out of the house.Aubrey didn’t want to exchange words with Anna, so she walked out of the house before she would say anything more.Adonis followed her.Aubrey entered the
Three cars were heading inside Laurier's garage. Adonis and Finn pulled themselves under two of the cars so it could drive them in. So, they would enter unnoticed.Several men got down from the car. They teamed up together to do some things before they disappeared.Adonis and Finn released their hold on the car and rolled out from under the car. They had their face mask on, so in case there was a CCTV camera anywhere. The whole place was eerily silent as if they were expecting them. But that wasn't possible. Adonis didn't leave any trace and there was no way they would have discovered it was him. They walked towards the door, just in time for someone to open the door. Adonis caught him quickly before he would be able to turn back and run away.Adonis turned him around quickly and covered his mouth with his palm to prevent him from screaming. He slowly moved his mouth to his ear. “Where is David Laurier?”The man didn’t answer until Adonis withdrew his gun and touched his face with it
Adonis heard the gunshot and then Finn fell into his arms. They both went down to the floor because of Finn's weight and the fact that he collapsed. It was the second time he would be watching his beloved shot. His blood boiled with rage but he knew that he had to leave before anything else. He had to make the plan work. That aside, Finn must not die! “Your heirloom is with me, Adonis but you will never be able to touch it. Well,” there was this satisfied grin on his face. “Dead men don't talk or do they?” Adonis's eyes became red as he watched David as if to jump on him and squeeze his neck or snap his head off. The siren of cars from outside actually pulled David to a stop. David looked back at the men. “Keep your weapons!” he ordered and the men complied immediately. He didn't want the police to see that he had more guns than usual. Though, he has been given the chance to own one. The door opened suddenly and several men rushed inside. But the only thing was that they weren't
“Also, I need you to do something for me. David needs a gift for the death of his son and I’ve thought of a better one.” Nick nodded. “Alright boss.” Adonis closed the door. He hesitated and stared at the car until it was out of sight. He brought out a cigarette and smoked for some minutes while contemplating what to do. Should he go to the bar or straight home? Though, he remembered that he had a party to attend that afternoon. “Where is the ambulance? Why isn't it here yet?” a thick voice demanded, pulling Adonis out of his thoughts. Adonis looked over to his left. There was a lady on the floor, while there were several men running helter-shelter around her. There was someone on the phone, probably talking to the ambulance. Adonis threw the cigarette away and moved closer to the crowds. He looked at the lady on the floor whose eyes were barely opened. It looked like she was finding it difficult to breathe. “What the fuck happened to her?” Adonis demanded. “She started to slum
“Where have you been? I’ve been waiting for you for so long,” Aubrey complained as they stepped inside the hall. “I’m sorry. I was so tired that I had to sleep off,” he lied. Aubrey nodded briefly. “Grandmother is around already,” she hinted. “We have to let them know We are really serious about this.” She stressed. Adonis nodded briefly. “I understand,” though, it was surprising that Aubrey wasn’t getting angry at him. He wasn’t really expecting it but he saw her to be that kind of a girl. David walked right into the hall, looking a bit devastated. His gaze searched around him as if he could catch a glimpse of Adonis even though he doesn’t know who he looks like. Adonis was watching him. Everleigh moved closer to David. She said some words to him and then started to walk him toward Adonis and Aubrey. She and David eventually stopped in front of them. “It’s such a pity that Kevin is gone. I was hoping the two families would eventually merge. I was hoping for a close relationsh
“Ma’am!” Becky, the secretary of Omnilert, rushed inside the Everleigh office. Everleigh looked up, a bit irritated at her attitude. “Where is your manners?” Becky comported herself quickly. “I’m sorry about that, ma’am but the Majestic group has arrived already, with 20 million dollars worth of goods,” there was a huge smile on her face as she made the announcement. “They are here?” Everleigh was overjoyed. Initially, she thought it was all a joke but she was happy at that moment that Omnilert would soon be among the richest companies in Jacksonville “But-,” Becky's voice trailed off. “We have a little issue. The representatives are demanding to speak with Miss Aubrey before they would start dispatching.” “Does that even make any sense?” Becky shrugged slightly. “Well, that’s what they demand. They have refused to unload.” Everleigh reasoned it for a moment and thought Zayn merely wanted to show Aubrey that he loved her. So, she decided to call him. It rang severally but Zay
Aubrey was in the hospital, beside her mother when her phone rang suddenly. It was Adonis. She regarded the phone for a moment before she eventually picked it up. “Hello, Aubrey.” “Aren’t you supposed to be at work?” Aubrey demanded. “I am at work but I just wanted to tell you that if your grandmother asks you to finalise the deal with Majestic group, don’t do it until she’s ready to do whatever you want.” Aubrey raised skeptical brows. “What do you mean?” “Well, she will call you very soon,” he didn't stop talking when Becky’s call came through. She ignored it, still shocked at what Adonis said. “I will have to talk to you later, Aubrey,” he finished and the line went off. Her mother had been sick for so long and there was nothing they could do to heal her. In fact, she might be sick till death. She was however thinking of earning more money and flying her out of the country, perhaps she would be able to save her. The phone rang again, pulling Aubrey out of her thoughts and she
