Chapter 20
To say my anxiety was through the roof would be an understatement.  Here I was just standing on the side of the road watching Todd’s windowless white van getting put on a flatbed tow truck while I waited for my Uber driver.  This was certainly not the ideal time or place to be considered that the demon boy, if it was him, tried to kill us in a potentially violent car crash.  The demon boy had gone too far, risking strangers lives just to wipe me off the face of the Earth. Todd had called the Uber for me so I had no idea who my Uber driver would be or what the driver would be pulling up in.  This was the ideal situation to get kidnapped in, especially considering the fact that my right hand was utterly useless and throbbing in pain.  My hand turned from a taco shape to a grotesque blob, still riddled with a black outline and blood highlighting the Latin letters.  Wh

Chapter 21
I assumed Wayne, my Uber driver, felt he had to escort me into Mrs. Tannell’s terrifying house because I was a minor and he was an adult.  Running through his head must have been thoughts of liability and a dead little kid that he had just dropped off at a horrifying black house.  There was no way he was going to leave my side now.  That kind of made me more comfortable but as soon as the shit hit the fan, he would run, that was absolutely certain.Pushing the door open resulted in the creepiest creaking sound you could imagine.  The sound seemed to last for hours until we refocused on the muffled moaning coming from the upstairs.  If there was even the slightest shard of light anywhere in the area, we could not see it.  Wayne was shuffling his feet, careful not to trip over anything or kick something that he would have to replace.Read more
Chapter 22
Fat, bald Todd burst through the door much to the dismay of the demon boy.  We were finally stacking some numbers against him.  Another round of crashing thunder and blinding lightning rang out causing Wayne to yelp like a dog that just had its tail stepped on.  If the situation were not so threatening, I would have let off a raucous laugh.  Considering the circumstances, laughing would probably result in some sort of magical spell being cast, who knew.Wayne army crawled his way towards the front door towards Todd but was quickly stopped mid-crawl by the demon boy.  His hands went from open and working to molding into one solitary hand creating a V-shape out of his arms.  His feet were rotated one-hundred and eighty degrees facing the ceiling.  He did not cry out in pain or seem to be in any physical discomfort but maybe shock had set in.Read more
Chapter 23
Todd was floating unwillingly as the demon boy held him in the air using only his pinky finger.  Wayne the Uber driver's body was still shish kabobbed to the large antique chandelier high above on the temple style ceiling.  The steam had finally left his entrails as life had left him forever and death took over to ensure all the postmortem boxes were checked and satisfied.  His hair hung limp, the same with his claw hands and twisted feet.  The only solace I felt was the fact I knew he was not scared anymore. My fat, bald teacher assigned bodyguard did not show any sign of emotion except perseverance and a little bit of arrogance which I loved but I knew it was an act.  Todd was putting on a farce in the face of the demon boy, it had to be a false sense of strength because if he were dropped from this height, delicate human body parts would certainly be mangled and permanently disfigured for the rest of his life.I do not think I would be too p

Chapter 24
The grey haired, dead eyed, wheelchair bound, malnourished old skeleton of a woman sat dead as a corpse after being embalmed as I pulled the cloth down from her mouth.  While my eyes were distracted by all the dust and mold that filtered into the air while pulling the cloth down that I had not seen her mouth yet.  The cloth, stained with blood and mucus, actually was gauze, the off-brand Rite-Aid type of gauze.  When my head raised back to eye level with the old woman, I made the discovery that caused my bowels to empty themselves all over the adjacent paint peeled wall.  I had not eaten that day which made the stomach acid rise and splash.  After a few more dry heaves and many cracks of my ribs, I was able to more closely analyze the old woman’s mouth.Leaning in very closely, already having dealt with the worst stomach-turning event of my life, it was very clear that someone had sewn the old woman’s mouth shut, double stitch

Chapter 25
The wheelchair bound old grey-haired woman with the same scar on her face that I had on my hand, never acknowledged any of my questions or pleas to help her.  Todd was in his own God like trance flying around the main room’s ceiling.  I was left with no other option than to investigate the scurrying sound from the final upstairs bedroom.  Whatever it was, it sounded like it had moved a large dresser and toppled it over onto the floor and then hustled off to avoid lessening the sound of the frightening crash. The old woman did not flinch one bit when the crash occurred, and I still was not sure if she could hear or if she were completely deaf.  I did notice, however, that when the terribly large sound occurred, her pupils dilated as wide as a cat that was about to pounce on an unsuspecting bird searching for earthworms at the surface of

Chapter 26
The look in the woman’s face was that of a consoling nature.  She knew she was going to tell me something that was going to change the course of my life, past and present, forever.  The inscription on her cheek disappeared, leaving fresh purified skin in its place.  We had a connection, that was clear, something in my heart recognized her when she was decrepit and old and now that feeling grew stronger and more intense as she had dispersed of that shell and became a young vibrant girl. The inscription on my palm was still well apart and far from gone.  It had lost its glow, but it was still very visible and easy to read, if you knew how to read Latin.  All of my other aliments had been rid of my body and I felt better than ever before.  Now I just had these nagging questions about who this girl was, why she was trapped in such horrible surroundings, and why I had a keen feeling of having met her or known her at some point in my life.Read more
Chapter 27
The demon woman was flat out, full diving towards me as I scrambled to crab crawl myself as far away from her as I could.  Her fresh, young arms were outstretched with ferocious claws leading the way.  Her blonde hair slicked back against the wind speed she had created.  She would have made a hell of a bodyguard for a President or celebrity, diving in front of supersonic bullets taking the hit to protect the asset she was assigned to.  If only she were a good guy, someone fighting for righteousness and the wellbeing of humanity, and not an evil demon woman seeking to ravage the world only to take it over as her new domicile.Crawling backwards as fast as possible, I finally slammed my head into the hardwood bannister of the second-floor balcony.  That was the most distance I could cover in that amount of time with the space allotted to me.  Luckily, Todd was tucked nice and tight to the wall directly to the right of the door the demon woman was d

Chapter 28
As the demon woman laid limply on my tensed nervous body, we fell to the hardwood floor at speed that felt like an eternity.  Time was so extremely slowed, I feared I had already died, and this was going to be my hell for the rest of my soul’s existence.  We had yet to hit the floor, my fire orange palm still firmly applying pressure and pain to the demon woman, something inexplicable happened.  The glossy black slime had slithered back out from the crack in the wall that it had sneakily squeaked through and hid much earlier in the adventure.  The puddle was much smaller in size but had instead compressed itself into a thicker composition, like a glossy black pancake inches tall.  My neck wrenched back to focus on the demon woman, she did not stand a chance against my powerful Latin etched glowing hand.  At least my min

Chapter 29
Just as before, a massive roar bellowed from the beast that was almost completely through the maple wood door.  The entire house shook as if we were enduring a small earthquake and the rest of the windows exploded in a symphony of skin slicing, blood inducing glass.  Todd fell to the floor, slamming his knees through the floor but, he also dropped the pendant and necklace.  I managed to track where it fell as my eyes bounced from flying glass, to the soon to be mobile demon boy, the demon lady, and the massive contortionist arm stretching out from the door over the balcony railing. When Todd fell and managed to slam his knees through the floor, luckily, he was still under the pendant’s power so there was no damage done to him physically.  That being said, he instantly dropped the pendant that gave us a chance, large or small, against whatever monstrosity was about to join the demon filled Mrs. Tannell search party.  I had to get to it, we could
