Chapter 21
"Daniel hired me", Micheal continued in trepidation. He did not know what reaction to expect from Declan, whose face wore a blank expression.  Declan was stunned. Daniel always had a way of crawling back into his life and making him miserable. He just stared at Micheal. There were murmurs in the room, and Declan could not find words to express himself. "What did I not do for you, Micheal?" He asked quietly after a while. All eyes were on Micheal already. "He had my family, sir. There was nothing I could do", Micheal cried out in defense."What do you mean?" Declan asked, still burning with rage.  "He asked me to tell him all I knew about the startup and when I

Chapter 22
"It was a heart attack. We tried but we could not save him. I am so sorry", the doctor said slowly, counting his words as he broke the news of their grandfather's death.  Daniel and Declan had both driven to the hospital and headed for the ward immediately.Declan bowed his head as he heard the news. He had been entertaining bad news since the previous day. "Thank you so much for everything doctor", Daniel replied curtly. His tone was bland. He was neither sad nor excited and at that point, Declan wanted to punch him in the face. "The man is old already. I guess it was high time he died", Daniel said, turning to Declan, who glared at him in reply.  "What?" Dani

The next few weeks passed by quietly. Declan buried Lord Rowland. Daniel had opted to go on a vacation with Patricia, probably to celebrate the success of their schemes. Ferdinand made an appearance at the burial but was under strict disguise. Samson and Hannah supported Declan throughout the entire process of planning.  Abigail had shown up at the ceremony too. She had on a sleek black dress that put her curvy petite frame on full display, making her the cynosure of all eyes.  Declan had spotted her from afar. She carried an aura that depicted comfort and ease.  She made the entire process less disturbing for him. She had offered to serve the guests, and he had spotted her on one or two occasions tal

Declan adjusted in his seat. He was not sure he heard his father properly. "You want me to take over the oil business?" He asked his father.Ferdinand nodded as he chuckled happily. He was amused at Declan's show of surprise."You can begin working on your legacy again.  You do not have to give up on that too", Ferdinand continued. "Besides, you thrive better in something that you are passionate about". Declan nodded. "I cannot leave the family business to die off dad. I bought it to rebuild it. It would not be a wise venture to just up and leave everything behind", Declan said in consideration. "I am not asking you to leave the business Declan. You can work u

Chapter 25
Everything seemed to be falling apart from Declan's end. The board had removed him from his position as CEO, and he was broke.  This was not the case for Daniel. Things were turning up for him. On the same day he took over from Declan as CEO, Patricia had put to bed a beautiful boy. Declan decided on a few days off work. He wanted to restrategize, hoping to come back stronger.  He took the opportunity to move out of his penthouse to an apartment building in the city. The new owners of the place wanted to move in, and he wanted to give them access to the house they had paid for.  The story of his sudden fall from grace did not escape the public eye. The blogs and news had his name written over their he

Chapter 26
Hannah walked briskly into his apartment. Her face scrunched up suddenly in irritation."I've been standing outside for so long Declan", she began, sounding agitated.  He tried to embrace her but she would not budge. That was when she saw Abigail. "I'll be leaving now. Think about what we discussed and get back to me", Abigail said, grabbing her bag from the kitchen island.  "Hi Hannah", she said with a smile to Hannah, turning to her as she headed out. Hannah only replied with a nod.  When Abigail was out of the house and out of earshot, Declan moved close to Hannah. He had not seen her in days and he missed her a whole lot.

Chapter 27
Declan started work at the restaurant the following week, and he loved every bit of it. A feeling of nostalgia hit him hard on the day he started.  It reminded him of those days he worked at bars, restaurants, and coffee shops as a waiter. Abigail's restaurant was truly the five-star it was. It held an expensive aura that only depicted beauty and class.  A bar was adjoining the far end of the large hall, and there was a club underground. It was fascinating. It was something the wealthy would be accustomed to.  Even though he was the manager, he offered to help in the kitchen and any other place his help was required. Abigail had once cajoled him that there was no need for his office because he was bar

With a swift movement, Declan concealed Patricia from his view. The restaurant was big enough and somehow, he managed to get her into covering before Daniel could see them.  Patricia had told him earlier that her husband had no idea that she was coming to see him, and he did not want to be a source of trouble either. "Daniel is here," he told her in a whisper. Her eyes widened in fright and he signaled her to calm down. He quietly led her back through the back door and into the kitchen.  Damian seemed to get a hint about what was happening. He was strangely silent throughout the unfolding, and Patricia was grateful. When he was sure Patricia was safely out of the restaurant, he went back in to attend to Da

Chapter 29
Declan took the first flight the next morning to his father's place. As he sat on the plane, he felt more fulfilled than he ever was in the past few months.    His father wanted him to come to take over the oil business full-time. He had no intentions of letting anyone else know about this new venture.   When he had informed Abigail and Hannah the previous night, he had told them that he needed to clear his head for some time with Samson.    Hannah had clung to him in the airport. She had wanted so badly to come with him, but he had assured her that he had something planned out for them already. Abigail said she thought it was a good idea, to get away from the madness of the city.   He had told Samson that

Chapter 30
"Meet Samantha", Ferdinand introduced. "She's going to be your assistant here, and will personally show you the ropes around here". Samantha let out a small smile and stretched forth her hand for a handshake. Her hands were soft like she had not done any hard work in her entire life. Their eyes met for a brief moment and she seemed to be saying something with her eyes, something he could not place his fingers on. He knew that he would think about it for the rest of the night. She was tall, a perfect height that suited her hourglass figure so well. She was black and her skin tone was perfect for her beautiful face. She was elegant, and Declan could sense class. She worked in an oil firm after all. It spilled money. Her knee-length dress clung tightly to her figure accentuating her curves, and he wondered why she bothered to wear heels. They were other things that made him wonder. It was almost midnight and the whole place was still bubbling with activities. Not everybody wore wo
