Chapter 62
Rhys lay on the ground unmoving...Beside him was a 30-square meters crater on the surface of the earth. This crater was formed when he had used his newly learned skill, {Hollow Judgement} on the {Devil-eyed White Primate}.Broken earth, trees, and mutant beast corpses littered the area around him, but Rhys just lay there in silence.Although his body was idle, his mind was working on overdrive...'Damn... The drop rates of runes are abysmal!'The reason he lay unmoving on the ground, was that he was taking his time to go through the gains deposited in his inventory.Within his inventory lay a few things, such as hundreds of HP and MP regen potions, the mana shards he had obtained, a few water canteens that he used to store the mutant beast blood, his destroyed {Bloody Katana}, and most importantly, a few runes.Even though he killed more than a thousand mutants, the number of runes he had in his inventory was just a little over 10. What this meant, was that the drop rate of the runes

Rhys looked around him and noticed that he wasn't close to the battlefield. When the {Devil-eyed White Primate} used it's {Spatial Jump} to carry them into the sky, it took them a little farther away from the battlefield. As he could still hear the cries of battle very clearly, he figured he wasn't that far away. Hence he began a slow walk back toward the direction of the noises he was hearing. As he walked, he continued organizing his inventory...'So that's 1 spatial, 4 darkness, 20 blood, 19 nature, 22 metal, 41 wind, 20 fire, 30 earth, 20 water, 11lightning, and 22 poison mana shards. Although, that is 210 mana shards in total. Not bad at all...' Rhys said with a pleased expression on his face.If there was one thing he was happy about, it was the number of mana shards he had harvested from the battle. He had gathered a decent amount that he hadn't used previously, so they had just been sitting in his inventory as well. He was excited to see what he could do with them.'According

As soon as Rhys broke through the line of trees, he was greeted with the sight of Seth inserting the muzzle of his rifle into the butt of a dying mutant wolf. Rhys watched as without a second of hesitation, the sadistic fatty pressed down on the trigger.BANG!A cloud of blood painted the air crimson as the mutant beast was completely blown into pieces. The fatty took his time to wipe the blood off his face before he noticed Rhys's appearance."Well look what the cat dragged in," Seth said with a smile as he scratched the back of his head embarrassedly. The blood on his face and clothes contrasted greatly with the warm smile he had on his face.'Damn... This guy is insane.' Although Rhys internally questioned what he had just witnessed, he decided not to say anything or think too much about it."Where are the others?" Approaching him, Rhys asked casually, almost as though he hadn't just witnessed the craziest thing that day.'Who knew he would be into that kind of stuff...' Apparently

The relationship between symbiotes was very strict...One couldn't take more from the other, as they could only benefit mutually from one another. Once this rule was broken, and one began to take more than he gave, the relationship would automatically become parasitic.Rhys understood this well...Should he feel that Seth was becoming a parasite, he would be forced to do what he must. A parasite that was left to fester for too long would end up turning into a huge problem."Now that that's out of the way, I guess we just have to wait for the others," Seth said. He slung his rifle back into his arms in an attempt to continue where he had left off."What exactly are you doing?" Although Rhys had an idea, he wasn't entirely sure. After all, there were better ways to go about this without causing too much of a mess."What does it look like, boss? I'm getting the mana shards out. This is the easiest and most humane way to do this stuff." Seth said with a smile.'Humane my ass!' Although he

Once they were all gathered, Jayden was the first to speak."Before we do anything else, we need to clean up," said Jayden in a grave voice.A large number of dead mutant creatures covered the entire courtyard of the building, up to the outskirts of the forest."Can't we just leave them here? I don't want to do anything else. I'm still sore from all that fighting. I'm also very hungry..." Seth rolled his shoulders and rubbed his stomach with a pout."Quit being so lazy!" Ricky said with an eye roll.Seth's eyes twitched in anger, "Get off my case, would you?!""That's enough, you guys. This is serious." Seeing the expression on Jayden's face turn even more serious, they quickly behaved, their faces turning serious. From the tension in the air, they could sense that something was up.Turning to the others, Jayden pointed at the dead mutants lying on the ground, "If we leave them here, they will begin to decompose. And once that happens, not only will the smell be unbeatable, but there

What do you think you are doing?" Zara turned her face to Rhys who walked quietly at her side and asked in a voice as cold as ice. The gaze she gave him was completely different from the one she usually gave him. This time, her eyes looked human... "What does it look like I'm doing?" Rhys answered with a shrug. She scrunched up her brows a lot in annoyance, "I made it very clear that I would be the one doing this." From the first day he had seen her, she had always acted a bit weird. She either had on an emotionless and cold face, or she just stared at him like a creep. Now, he was finally able to get a somewhat human response from her, so he chose to keep up the indifferent act to see where it took him. "Well, I fail to see how that's any of my concern." Rhys made sure to draw his words out, even finishing the sentence with a yawn to provoke a reaction from her. However, Rhys was disappointed to see that apart from a brief frown that disappeared as quickly as it came onto her fa

His eyes widened in shock, 'The entire forest?!' {Replying to host: Affirmative... The entire forest}. Rhys stood there for a while, taking in his surroundings. He had noticed earlier during the first day of Armageddon, that the plant life in their vicinity had begun to drastically mutate. The trees had grown taller, and the shrubs and bushes had grown thicker and more thorny. He knew that it was most likely every single organism on the face of Urbus that had begun to mutate, but he had no idea it would be this drastic. 'How is that even possible? Are you saying that this entire forest is just one really big creature?' Rhys asked, trying to discern whether there was another meaning behind the system's words. All he got, was another notice of affirmation. He looked around at all the trees surrounding them, they had all grown even taller than they had been on the first day. It was really scary that they were able to grow so much in two days. Rhys looked down at the collapsed monst

Compared to the outside, the gymnasium was the safest and sanest place they could find. There was also a lot of space within, so Rhys was able to get his much-needed privacy. While the interior of the gymnasium was fairly okay, that didn't mean it was at 100 percent. Some parts of the roof had caved in, and there was debris all over the place with all the equipment and furniture scattered over the place, but compared to the pile of rubble outside, it was paradise. Since they all had a day before they headed into the forest to search for a way to get to the main campus, they decided they would all do their own thing while waiting for Rhys to make his preparations. Jayden and Myles searched for survivors since there was a possibility of someone hiding out in one of the storage closets within the building to preserve their lives. They had no intentions of leaving anyone behind if they could save them. The rest of them, which included Ricky, Bryan, and Seth separated to do their own t

Because the blade had embedded itself into the ground, it was going to be many times harder for him to pick it up. Not only was it very heavy, but it was also now stuck inside the ground. 'A sword in a stone... how ironic.' Rhys inwardly felt the urge to kick at the wall behind him, but he controlled his emotions. 'Ha...' He took a deep breath, before looking around. Luckily for him, he hadn't made a ruckus, so he didn't attract any attention. Once he noticed that no one was looking, he made his move... Only about half of the blade's length had disappeared into the ground, so there was still enough of the blade's length jutting out for him to comfortably grasp onto. He took his left leg back by two steps, keeping his right forward, close to the place the blade had embedded itself. He then shifted all his weight onto his right foot and grabbed onto the hilt, tugging on it with all his might... His muscles pulled taut as he pulled and pulled... Veins burst from his forehead and a

Rhys was able to create a special formula for the creation of skills... He realized that relying solely on the system wasn't a very wise decision. That was because the system would never provide you with an answer to a question you didn't ask. What this meant, was that while you might think you've got it all right because you asked the system, there would be many pieces of the puzzle you would miss because you either didn't ask the right questions or didn't ask enough of the right questions. All these factors could lead to incomplete information that could severely hinder growth. Luckily for Rhys, he was very observant, and he was able to notice all these things. If not, he would just roll with the information provided to him by the system without question. 'And the freaking thing charges so high as well! Fraudulent system...' If there was anything Rhys was upset about, it was the way the system took his hard-earned system points just to answer a few questions... {Replying to hos
