CHAPTER 241
Adrian and the bodyguard stormed into Malik’s apartment the moment the bodyguard kicked the door open. Malik’s eyes were wide as saucers, and he instinctively stumbled backwards as he saw the two men standing in his doorway. “W-who are you guys?” He sputtered, his gaze alternating frantically between the both of them. “What are you doing in my apartment?” Adrian stepped in further into the living room and peered around for a moment before his gaze settled on Malik. He accessed the average-heighted man in a college hoodie, and a frown appeared between his brows. His face was unfamiliar and he seemed completely innocent and incapable of harming a fly. But if there was one thing he had learnt in life, it was not to judge a book by its cover. There was definitely more to the issue, because something wasn’t adding up. Coming out of his thoughts, his gaze remained fixated on Malik. “I’m Adrian Young, and I need answers from you,” he muttered in a tone that sent chills dow
CHAPTER 242
Malik’s eyes widened as he felt himself being lifted off the floor and he stared at Adrian in bewilderment. He was incredibly scared of heights no matter how small, and this little action made his heart want to leap out of his chest. “I…I don’t know where he is,” he admitted in a voice trembling with terror. “He didn’t tell me where he was going when he left my house!” Adrian’s jaw tightened and he yanked Malik higher, not believing his excuse for a second. “You’re trying to play smart with me, right?” He sneered so darkly that even the bodyguard instinctively stepped back. The anger radiating off Adrian was enough to send chills down anyone’s bones. Malik frantically shook his head, the panic in his eyes evident as he noticed the way Adrian’s pupil’s dilated. “I’m not trying to play smart, I swear!” He sputtered. “I really don’t know where Nathan is!” Adrian tilted his head for a bit before finally releasing his hold on Malik, making him fall to the floor. He glowered
CHAPTER 243
Adrian reached where Nathan lay in no time and crouched down to his level. Raising him up by his collar so they were face to face, his narrowed eyes locked onto Nathan’s terrified ones. “You crossed the line this time, and I’ll destroy you for it,” Adrian hissed, his voice low and menacing. “For every single bit of pain Anita felt because of you, I’ll return it in a thousand folds.” Without waiting for Nathan to respond, Adrian lifted him up by the collar, making his feet dangle off the floor. “Get your hands off me!” Nathan cried out as he struggled to pry Adrian’s grip away from his collar. “You’re accusing me wrongly! I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Adrian’s eyes flashed with hot fury at Nathan’s blatant lies and denial. His grip on his collar tightened and he lifted him up further off the ground. So much so that Nathan’s eyes widened impossibly at his unusual strength. The shiver that ran down Nathan’s spine then intensified as he increased his struggling.
CHAPTER 244
Grandpa Lloyd remained speechless and unmoving for a few more seconds, and Adrian had to snap his fingers in front of his face to jolt him out of his spaced out state. Grandpa Lloyd snapped back to reality and his eyes flickered between the phone and Adrian. “I-is that real?” “Are you kidding me?” Adrian spat incredulously. “You still don’t believe me?”This was the final straw for him as he hurled his phone across the wall. The phone clattered to the wall and slipped to the floor, shattering to pieces. This was the second phone he was destroying in less than a day, but he couldn’t give two hoots about it. Without giving Grandpa Lloyd the chance to react or stop him, he charged for Nathan. Nathan’s breath caught on his throat and he tried to make a run for it, but Adrian caught him by the back collar of his shirt and yanked him backwards. Then, he forcefully dragged him along as he came to face Grandpa Lloyd again. He shoved Nathan to his knees and tightened his grip on h
CHAPTER 245
Adrian swerved into the parking lot of the Lifemate Hospital. He got out without delay, and went around to the passenger’s side where Nathan sat, shrunken back against the seat. Opening the passenger door, he unfastened the seatbelt and pulled Nathan out by his arm. Then without bothering to care how the man was holding up, he dragged him towards the entrance of the hospital Pushing the doors open, the sterile scent of antiseptic and drugs fanned his nostrils, but he ignored it and kept his gaze forward as he headed down the hallway leading to Anita’s ward. Patrons and staffs of the hospital murmured at the unusual scene before them. Some of them gasped at Nathan’s bloodied and disheveled state, while the others covered their noses in disgust as the smell of his urine contaminated the air. Adrian paid them no mind as he kept dragging Nathan through the narrow hallway with pristine white walls. The moment they reached Anita’s ward, he opened the door and pulled Nathan inside
CHAPTER 246
Vincent reluctantly listened to Adrian’s words and moved aside from a barely conscious Nathan. He looked at Adrian with a barely restrained, but pleading expression. “Please, take him away from here. I don’t know what I’ll do if I keep seeing him here.” “I’ll do that, but first he has to apologize to Anita,” Adrian suggested. “It’s the least he could do.” Vincent pressed his lips, but didn’t object to Adrian’s suggestion. He simply nodded and walked out of the ward, needing some space to calm his mind. “No, take him away,” Regina objected, her hands shooting out in front of her just as Adrian picked Nathan up, and dragged him towards Anita’s bed. “I don’t want him anywhere near Anita for one more second.” “Don’t you want him to apologize at least?” Adrian’s brows tilted as he tried to reason with her. Regina folded her arms and bobbed her knees, eyeing Nathan as though she was considering Adrian’s words. “Fine,” she begrudgingly agreed. “But make it quick. By the time,
CHAPTER 247
Blaze hesitated for a moment before his voice finally sounded through the receiver. “If that’s what you want, master,” he conceded. “I know there’s definitely an important reason why you made this decision, and I hope whatever it is gets sorted in time.” “Thank you for understanding, Blaze,” Adrian responded with a firm nod. “I’ll talk to you later.” With that he hung up the phone and leaned back against the backrest of the couch, and his mind swirled with thoughts for a moment before exhaustion overtook him and his eyes drooped close. Meanwhile, on another side of Wibston, Lawrence Smith was having a fit of rage as he reeled from the aftermath of his defeat to Adrian. Kai, on the other hand, stood a few meters away from Lawrence, while clutching his side. Despite the pain traveling up his body, he barely registered it due to the anger swirling inside him. His fight with Adrian replayed over and over in his head and he couldn’t still believe Adrian had won. But even mor
CHAPTER 248
Adrian sat a bit more upright on the sofa as he glanced up, his gaze steadily meeting Regina’s. “I’ve not done that yet. He’s fainted, so he’s being revived. I’ll take him to prison once that happens.” Regina huffed and crossed her arms. “Him being the culprit, doesn’t make you innocent,” she muttered bluntly. “You still had a role to play in what happened to Anita, because you aren’t rich enough to protect her. I still stand by my earlier statement. You don’t deserve to be near my daughter, so leave.” Adrian’s eyes flashed with fury and disbelief. He knew Regina had always been an unreasonable person, but this was just too much. “Are you serious right now?” He echoed in incredulity. “You’re still blaming me for Anita’s accident?” “Of course,” Regina shot back, her voice rising slightly. “If you weren’t so useless, then a brat like Nathan wouldn’t have been able to harm a single hair on her head. She’s better off without you, so just get out for crying out loud!” “No,” Adri
CHAPTER 249
The man’s eyes flashed with annoyance, but then he masked it with a challenging smirk. “You can’t tell me what I can or can’t do,” he scoffed as he gave Adrian a disdainful once over. “You’re just a loser.” Adrian shrugged as though the words merely bounced off his shoulders. “Call me whatever you want, but don’t dare bother my girlfriend again.” The man folded his bulky arms across his chest and the smirk on his lips widened aa he openly checked Ashley out, disregarding Adrian’s words. Ashley’s grip around Adrian’s arm tightened and she shifted on her feet as the man’s lustful stare sent bad shivers down her spine. “Pretty lady, I have a proposal for you,” the man spoke up again, after he was done gawking at Ashley shamelessly. He rubbed his lips while licking them as he continued. “Ditch this loser boyfriend of yours, and come to me. I’ll give you whatever you want and turn your life around.” Ashley rolled her eyes at the cockiness in the man’s tone, and her gaze met his
CHAPTER 250
Everyone watched with undivided attention as the man climbed down the chair and made his way to the bar. Once he reached the counter, he tapped it a few times to get the bartender’s attention. The bartender, who had been busy mixing a couple of drinks, looked up and raised a brow in inquisitiveness. “What can I get for you, sir?” He asked politely. “Ten shots of Devil Springs mixed with Everclear, please,” the man replied loud enough for everybody to hear. And gasps erupted from the patrons. Devilsprings was known to be one of the strongest alcoholic vodkas ever made, and wasn’t for the faint-hearted. It was already dangerous enough, but when mixed with Everclear, drinking it could be said to be almost suicidal! Ashley also gasped beside Adrian and looked at him, eyes wide in alarm. “Adrian, that man is completely out of his mind!” She whisper-yelled, and panic seeped through her voice. “Devilsprings is not something to be trifled with. I even know someone who had die
