CHAPTER 71
Killian hugged her, resting his chin lightly on her shoulder. "What… what are you doing?" She asked, startled. Her heart pounded in her chest, at this rate… her feelings for him would only triple. She was barely holding herself together as it was. "Stop worrying." He whispered softly into her ear, then his voice dropped lower. "Do you want me to sleep with you again tonight?" Janelle's breath caught. "No... I'll be fine on my own..." She stammered, unsure if she was trying to convince him or herself. "Okay. Good night." Killian said as he began to pull away. "Killian, wait." She said suddenly, grabbing his hand and holding it tightly. He turned to look at her, patient as always, waiting for her to speak. Her heart was pounding, this was it, the moment she had to come clean about the dinner, about her dad. But the words wouldn't quite come out yet. He turned back to her, brows drawing together with quiet concern. "What is it?" She wanted to tell the truth, wanted to

"Killian Jones." He answered smoothly. Ian's eyes lit up. "Jones? Are you related to Peter Jones by any chance?" Janelle immediately tensed. "Dad, he's not..." "Yes." Killian cut in, his voice calm and measured. "Peter Jones is my father." Ian's entire demeanor brightened. "Ah! It's so good to finally meet Peter's first son. He always spoke so highly of you." "Did he?" Killian murmured with a faint scoff, a subtle shadow flickering in his eyes. Not anger toward Ian, but the sting of old memories resurfacing. "Well then." Ian said, raising his glass, "Are you two planning to get engaged?" Janelle nearly choked on her food. "Dad!" she exclaimed, laughing nervously. "We just started dating, surely, there's no need to rush things." "But I must say, I like Killian. I thought you might bring someone... questionable." Ian said with a smirk. "But this, this is a pleasant surprise. I'm impressed." Killian offered a confident smile, his tone smooth. "Thank you, sir. I'll
CHAPTER 73
Janelle ignored the warmth blooming in her chest. She snuggled in closer, pressing her cheek against Killian's chest, letting his heartbeat lull her. It felt safe, It felt… right. But she reminded herself, it was all pretend, still, she closed her eyes and let sleep carry her away. Killian, on the other hand, lay wide awake. Her soft breath against his skin, were actually, the delicate weight of her body curled against him. It was torture, this wasn't just about pretending anymore. It wasn't just comfort. He wanted her, all of her. Mind, body, soul. And that scared the hell out of him, he turned on the bed, trying to find a way to still his thoughts, but her warmth, her scent, everything about her was too much. He let out a breath and finally forced his eyes shut. 'Just sleep Killian or else you might blurt something stupid with a tired mind.' Because if he wasn't careful, one wrong word might shatter everything. And he wasn't sure he could handle that, Janelle woke u
CHAPTER 74
Janelle got into the car and slammed the door hard. "You know sweetheart, you might actually spoil the door if you keep hitting it that hard." Killian said without looking at her. She turned to glare at him. "Stop with the endearments. It's creepy, and we're alone." "And if I don't want to?" he replied with a teasing smile. Janelle ignored him completely, the drive home was quiet. Killian didn't press her, and she said nothing. When they got home, Janelle went straight to the kitchen and made dinner. Killian knew she still had things to say, probably a whole storm of words so he braced himself for it. But when she finally called him over to eat, she didn't say a word. She just sat and ate her food silently, not even sparing him a glance. Killian studied her for a few seconds, then finally spoke up. "If you're upset, you can just say so." Janelle didn't look at him as she calmly said, "I'm not upset." Killian raised an eyebrow. "Right, and I'm the Queen of England." S

"They are two people." She wrote. "Two people?" Silver asked. "Who are these people?" Luca finally asked, gently. "They are brothers. They are monsters." She wrote. "Can you tell us where or how to find them?" Luca asked. "Shawn and James." She wrote. "Shawn and James? I haven't heard of this two before." Silver said while the nurse suddenly came in. "Alright times up, the doctor will be here in two minutes, I need you two to go wait outside." She orders. "Of course." Luca replied while they both left Rachael's medical room. CHAPTER 78
"That doesn't make sense though?" "Does anything about this make sense, Silver? We have two monsters, Shawn and James, one of whom is Rachael’s boyfriend, killing dozens of people. But they spare her." Silver shook his head. "Maybe they still have some humanity left." "Humanity?" Luca scoffed, turning the car onto the deserted night road. "Humanity doesn’t leave a bloody trail of bodies." "So, what’s our next move?" Silver asked, his eyes searching the dark streets. "We find them. We figure out what they are... and we end this," Luca replied. Suddenly, the police radio in a car behind them crackled to life, with Luca's extra ordinary hearing skills he heard it; "All units, we have a situation 10-80 at Greystone Avenue. Multiple 10-54s. Suspects described as large, monstrous figure. Approach with caution. "Luca and Silver exchanged a glance. "Greystone Avenue... that’s just a few blocks away," Luca muttered."Step on it!" he yelled out. Silver hit the gas, the car’s engine

Luca’s jaw tightened as he paced just outside the hospital’s emergency entrance, the cool night air barely soothing his nerves. Silver leaned against a wall, trying to catch his breath, eyes never leaving the main doors. "Steal Rachael out of the hospital?" Luca asked, his voice a mix of shock and disbelief. "You got a better idea?" Silver shot back. "If Rachael is the key, we can’t let her stay here. Not when that monster is out there." "Okay, but we can’t just walk in and grab her. Security’s tighter now. After the last incident…" "I know." Silver’s gaze swept over the building. "We need a plan."Silver’s phone buzzed. A news alert.... "More bodies found near Greystone Avenue… This is getting out of hand Luca." "Then we move fast," Luca said. "We get in, get her, and get out without anyone noticing."Silver sighed. "Fine. But how do we do that without getting busted Luca? It's not that simple." "Of course it's simple. We stage a medical emergency," Luca replied, a sly s

A soft groan stirred the silence in the dimly lit room. Luca’s eyes shot toward the bed as Rachael shifted, her eyelids fluttering. Her breathing quickened, and she winced slightly. Then, with a gasp, she bolted upright. "Rachael?" Silver moved closer, concern etched into every line of his face. "Hey, take it easy. You’re safe." Then he stepped out to get something outside, leaving Luca alone with Racheal. Her eyes darted around the unfamiliar room, disoriented. "Where... where am I?" "We had to get you out of the hospital," Luca explained quickly, "It wasn’t safe anymore. Do you remember anything? About what happened to you?" Her forehead creased, brows tightening as she tried to recall. "I... I remember driving... running from something... there was a monster." Her hands trembled as she touched her neck. "I remember now. It was Shawn and James." "Yeah," Luca replied. "They’re not human," he said grimly. "We’ve seen what they can do." Rachael’s eyes watered with confusio
