“It’s you!”The color drained from Joseph’s face the moment he saw who had stepped through the door. His creditor, Hudson, had come to him directly.“Why? Surprised to see me?” Hudson’s voice was calm, almost amused, as his eyes swept across the room.Joseph’s muscles tensed instinctively, ready to fight if needed. He knew Hudson hadn’t come for anything good.Hudson, on the other hand, looked relaxed. In truth, he’d come to make sure the Belen would no longer exist in Los Angeles when this was over. But before that, there were still a few things to take care of. He smiled faintly and said, “Aren’t you going to invite me in?”Joseph didn’t answer right away. After a short silence, he gave a signal for the guards to stand down. Once they stepped aside, he gestured toward the door. “Come in,” he said coldly.Even though Joseph was on edge, curiosity flickered in his eyes. He wanted to know what Hudson was really after.Thinking back to what had just happened outside, how Hudson had ambu

For a moment both father and son froze. Joseph understood exactly what Hudson’s request was meant to do, to humiliate his son, but when James mentioned the tea, his eyes brightened. He gave a curt nod. James moved forward, took the teacup from Hudson’s hand, set it on the table with exaggerated care, then dropped to his knees.Kneeling and kowtowing to an enemy was humiliating beyond words, but James forced himself through it. Three hurried kowtows, then he picked up the cup he’d placed on the table and offered it with a flat smile. “Hudson, please drink,” he said.Hudson obliged. He raised the cup, drank, and then, casually nodded as if approving a fine vintage. “Good tea,” he said, setting the cup down.Joseph let out a slow, satisfied smile. “If you like it, we’ll have someone pack some up for you before you leave,” he said.Hudson drank again, taking a large swallow. When he put the cup down, more than half the tea was gone. Both Joseph and James exchanged looks of triumph; they

The room went deathly silent after Hudson’s cold sigh. The air felt thinner, colder, so much that the tea in Joseph’s cup began to fog.Facing the man who looked like the reaper himself, Joseph shook. “Master… we were wrong. If you let us live, the Belen family will serve you. Whatever you ask, we’ll do it.”“Really?” Hudson asked, interest flat in his voice.Joseph scrambled for his phone. Hands trembling, he opened the platform where he’d posted the hit and revoked the contract. He didn’t hesitate to pay the cancellation penalty, nine hundred million dollars, because the alternative terrified him more. He pushed the phone into Hudson’s hand. “I revoked it. Look.”Hudson checked the screen, nodded once, satisfied. “You’re obedient,” he said. “There’s one more thing. Do it right, and I’ll spare your family.”“Anything, tell me!” Joseph practically sobbed, clutching at the possibility of salvation.Hudson’s smile was small and hard. “You drugged me. A proper punishment for that is obvi

‘If you make a mistake, there will always be consequences. Refusing to face those mistakes or letting pride take over only makes the punishment worse.’Hudson knew that leaving Joseph alive could cause problems later.Ivory frowned, her voice full of worry. “Hudson, that Joseph guy has always been dangerous. Letting him live could come back to haunt you.”She drew her hand across her neck, mimicking what she’d seen in movies. “Are you sure you don’t want to… you know?”She didn’t have to say it out loud for Hudson to understand. Joseph had been forced to kill his own son, and Ivory knew that deep down, he must hate Hudson for it. Maybe Joseph was quiet now because he was afraid, but once Hudson turned his back, that fear could turn into revenge.Ivory understood one simple truth, being kind to an enemy is just another way of being cruel to yourself.“Don’t worry,” Hudson said calmly. “He won’t be able to cause any trouble anytime soon. Once the Belen family and the Thomas family start

“Wait, that is your friend?” Ivory asked, instinctively stepping back as the fat man charged toward them with a knife. On the way there, Hudson had mentioned that he only had one friend in. Ivory had been curious about what kind of person could be friends with someone like him, so she insisted on meeting the man. She definitely didn’t expect their first meeting to start with a knife fight. The man looked like he weighed over three hundred pounds, but he moved with surprising speed. The knife in his hand sliced through the air with a sharp whoosh, straight toward Hudson’s head.Hudson didn’t even flinch. He stood still, calm as ever, as if he didn’t see the blade at all.“Hud, ” Ivory’s voice caught in her throat. She started forward but froze when the knife stopped, just a hair’s breadth above Hudson’s forehead. The precision was unbelievable.Ivory stared, stunned. Controlling that much power so precisely wasn’t something just anyone could do. She could tell right away, this man wasn

Since the day Ivory met Hudson, she had never seen him like this before. Her chest tightened as she watched him, he’d endured five years of humiliation from the Wilson family without ever once showing anger. For him to react like this now meant only one thing, something truly serious had happened.Jayson let out an awkward laugh and tried to pull his wrist free, but Hudson’s grip was like iron. No matter how much he struggled, he couldn’t break free. After about ten seconds, Hudson finally released him, his voice low and sharp.“You’re hurt. Why didn’t you come to me?”“It’s just a small injury. No big deal,” Jayson replied, his voice weak and guilty.“Small injury?” Hudson’s tone hardened. “You call this small when your foundation’s been damaged? You really think I wouldn’t notice, Jayson?”Seeing that Hudson was genuinely angry, Ivory gently placed her hand on his knee, hoping to calm him down. Jayson, clearly wanting to avoid the topic, forced a grin and twisted open a bottle of wh

At the entrance of the Flame Sect. When Hudson, Ivory, and Jayson emerged from the thick California mountain trail, a group of people was already waiting for them.Leading the group was Allen, the sect master of the Flame Sect. He was built like a boulder, broad and heavy, his sheer size making him look as though walking might be a struggle. But despite his appearance, he was a true master, one of the most powerful figures in the sect.As Jayson approached, Allen’s hands clenched tightly, and the folds of fat around his arms and chest trembled with the rhythm of his uneven breathing.Even from a distance, Ivory could tell. The resemblance between the two men, their features, their build, even the way they carried themselves, was undeniable. They had to be father and son.Given Allen’s position at the front, surrounded by disciples, it was obvious he was the highest-ranking member here, the sect master himself. Ivory’s gaze drifted back to Jayson, her mind piecing things together. She

Hudson spun around just in time to catch a dark blur flying toward him. It was a crossbow bolt, the arrowhead gleamed faint blue under the cavern’s light. Poison. His fingers clenched around it before it could hit, and he slowly looked up toward the rocky ledge above. Three figures stood there, two men and a woman. The one holding the crossbow wore a dark blue jacket and looked barely twenty. With a sharp crack, Hudson snapped the arrow in half between his fingers, letting the pieces fall to the ground. His voice was calm but laced with mockery. “Seriously? Who the hell sends poisoned bolts at strangers?”“Damn it!” The guy in the red jacket cursed, leaping down from the ledge with the others. “We’ve been searching this place for hours, and you just swoop in and take it?”The woman landed lightly beside them, her sharp eyes glancing at the metal box in Hudson’s hand.“Hey, man,” the red-jacketed one said, his tone turning cold. “You do realize you just took something that doesn’t belo

Hudson stepped out from behind a cluster of boulders with a calm smile. The three Skyhaven Guild disciples, who had been frantically searching for him, froze in shock when he appeared. Their eyes lit up with a mixture of hope and uneasiness. The man in the red jacket immediately wiped the irritation from his face and plastered on a friendly grin.“Hey, man! We were actually looking for you,” he said, trying to sound casual. “Back in that cave earlier… yeah, we messed up. Hope you don’t hold a grudge.”Hudson’s smirk said everything, he wasn’t buying it.While pretending to be polite, Red Jacket discreetly motioned to his teammates, subtly telling one of them to record Hudson’s appearance. Then he lowered his tone even more.“The Divine Stone Grass is really important to us,” he continued. “We figured there should only be one… so maybe you could share? We’re not asking for free, we can trade you something valuable.”Hudson’s voice dropped, flat and cold. “There’s only one Divine Stone

“This… is not a good place. Forget it,” Hudson muttered, glancing around. They were surrounded by bushes in a rough, uneven clearing, not exactly the kind of setting that matched the sudden spark of passion he just had. The mood vanished instantly.“Huh?” Ivory blinked, confused. “What were you trying to do?”Now he was stunned. What I was trying to do? Wasn’t it pretty clear from the look you gave me what you thought I was trying to do?Realizing they were thinking of two different things, and that she might be misunderstanding him, Hudson cleared his throat awkwardly. “Nothing. Never mind. Let’s just keep going.”He took a few steps forward, but Ivory suddenly stopped. It finally clicked for her what he might have been implying a moment ago. Her cheeks warmed. “This kind of place? Seriously? I’m not that… desperate.”The word she wanted to say was too embarrassing to say out loud.Hudson, now realizing how quickly their thoughts had gone off-track, let out a small laugh and simply m
