Chapter 11
Since I received the Forever Core from Q'urtona and the Zenith, it had never given me a clear cut challenge like this. A worthy vessel they called me I would have to prove that worth here and now."I hate villains like you..." I blurted out. "Causing harm and terror for no specific reason. You do it for fun, makes me sick" Ant Goliath glared at me with his multifaceted eyes and he immediately dropped low, ready to pounce."I have every reason to end you here, but the system has given me a new motivation. Not only do I want to restore peace to City D, I also want to level up with the help of the Forever Core... Desperately" I finished as I felt the power of the Forever Armor course through me with an increasing intensity, like a water surpassing it's boiling point."System? Forever Core... What is this brat talking about?" Ant Goliath scoffed. We both went silent for a couple seconds, analyzing eachother, waiting for the other to make the first move. The earth beneath our feet cracke

Civilians began to pour out slowly into the clearing, their faces darting upwards as he made his entrance. He descended in a slow, controlled drop, landing smoothly on the ground. With a swift motion, he dismounted the electrified surfboard and secured it behind his back, the device locking into place with a faint hum.Everyone stared at him in shock as he spun around slowly, observing his environment. He was tall, dark skinned with well maintained dread locks. His suit — a well fitted, skin tight attire with blue as the dominant color. Intricate black designs and patterns formed other elements of the suit including a lightning shaped emblem shown on his chest."Uhhh... So much damage for one night..." He muttered. The number of civilians grew by the second, the threat was dealt with so they deemed it safe to come out of their hiding place."Who would be so kind to point me in the direction the villain went?..." Thunderlash asked turning to a large portion of the crowd. His entire d

"Good evening Madame President" Apostle replied while slowly spinning his rotating chair towards the direction of her footsteps. She arrived at where he was seated and they exchanged a subtle handshake before he turned around to face the monitor. "You said you have something that might be of interest to me..." President Viola said eagerly as she folded arms right under her voluptuous breast. "Yes ma'am..." He replied with a slight cough. "This better be good, I have a meeting with a member of the Guardian Corps in five minutes".Apostle immediately leaned forward, tapping away on his keyboard. With a few dramatic final clicks, a series of images rolled to view on the screen. "This came in several minutes ago madam president..." He started highlighting images of Ant Goliath's corpse plastered all over the screen. "What do you think?" Apostle asked. "What am I looking at here?". President Viola furrowed her brows, her gaze flickering, carefully studying the pictures as they passe
Chapter 14
If it was a matter of if I was getting stronger, that was very much evident. I could see it. Feel it. I grew stronger each time I summoned the Forever Armor and it's not just in my abilities but also mentally. Things that used to seem impossible before were very much possible now so it's only natural to see myself in a new light. With most of my focus targeted at my progress with the Forever Core it was as if nothing else mattered. And to me, nothing else mattered as much as my goal. With my current abilities I still probably would be a C-Class, although I have leveled up from the last time I used to the ranking device. I still trained every second I had the chance to and still did it without letting anyone know about my second enlightenment, not even my friends. I couldn't risk anyone knowing, especially when the Forever Core clearly stated that. I had woken up early today as usual to begin my daily task of training myself to be the absolute best, I usually started with a morn
Chapter 15
Ominous.Yes, that was the word for it. Ominous. It bothered me, of all the superheroes wanting to prove themselves and climb up the ladder of fame.No one, nobody was capable of taking down a bunch of B-CLASS Villains that were rampaging through the city without remorse. My mind raced as I dashed across the zebra crossing and immediately made a beeline for a secluded alley so I could transform.I needed to get there. And fast!My sneakers skid across the asphalt road as I toppled over a few trash cans when I entered the alley."Initiate!"I commanded. That familiar hum resonated in my veins as energy pulsated from the Forever Core in my chest.Golden liquid metal spread from the chest piece engulfing my body gradually and in a matter of seconds.[Initiation Complete]Sector E was a few kilometers away and every second wasted translated to one more life taken."Come out."The rocket boosters at the sole of my feet powered up with a steady pace and soon after I was in the air.Moving l
Chapter 16
I had no armor on. No protection whatsoever from what could happen next. Tch! How could I be so careless, I was so focused on keeping my secret identity that I forgot about being the hero. In that split second, I thought it was the end of my journey with the Forever Core. Maybe I wasn't cut out to be the 'worthy vessel' Q'urtona was hoping for. My brain suddenly went on autopilot and jerked backwards barely evading the slashing attack of the villains sharp claws. His claws caught me right on the cheek with a dreadful slash and blood began to dribble out. I staggered back in pain, holding my face as if preventing it from slicing in half. A while had passed since I felt raw pain originating from my flesh, since my second enlightenment event, since the faithful day i died. Almost. I glanced up at the villain as he began to take slow, controlled steps towards me. Seemingly elated by his attack, he grinned from ear to ear exposing his razor sharp teeth. I had to do something to sa

"Come Out!" I ordered. My rocket boosters kicked in. But unfortunately for me, Blood Jaw had already caught up and he grabbed my ankle right when I was about to blast off in retreat. Planting his feet firmly to the ground, he spun around and flung me so hard I bounced a total of ten times before hitting a brick wall. "What the f*ck" I couldn't believe what just happened. Did I just loose in a battle of speed to a ten ton gorilla-crocodile?This is the power of a full blown B-Class villain.I glanced up trying to get to my feet, and just like before. Blood Jaw sprinted swiftly with twice as much speed into me. Driving me half way through the wall. From then on, he rained endless punches on my body like I was a punching bag. Not less than a nanosecond wasted for the next punch to come in. 'aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!''What is this...''What is this fresh inspiration!''Is this death?'My eyes rolled upwards only revealing the white as I took in the damage Blood Jaw dealt on my body. Ju
Chapter 18
I dropped from the sky like a meteor, crashing onto the shattered asphalt. The impact cracked the ground beneath me, kicking up dust and debris as the scattered remains of buildings groaned under the weight of their own destruction. I hated this. Villains. They always loved destruction. They tore through anything and everything in their path just to fulfill their own twisted desires. The sight of collapsed homes, the distant cries of survivors, the smell of burnt cars. They didn’t care about the families that lived here. The children. The dreams that had taken years to build, now reduced to nothing in a matter of seconds. I will destroy all of them if I have to because with each villain I erase, I become stronger. The Forever Core jeered inside me as I walked briskly, observing my environment. I stopped in my tracks when an ominous scream rang out into the air. Almost instinctively, I spun around in search of the origin of the scream. Was someone in danger? I ha

Ring, Ring, Ring. My alarm clock went off, pulling the sleep away from my eyes. It was the same time every morning — 6:15 a.m.I dragged the sheets away from my body and dismounted the bed. The mental exhaustion I had the previous day had worn off so I was feeling as fresh as a newly plucked apple, ready to continue my quest at becoming the strongest hero there is and will ever be. Was I delusional?. No, with the Forever Core it was possible. I just have to be consistent and show up. I walked slowly into the kitchen, the light was on so it took a few seconds for my eyes to adjust. My next few actions were all instinctively, because it had become a normality since the day of my second enlightenment event. A banana, cracked an egg, a cup of milk and a second cup of orange juice. It wasn't much, but it contained the necessary nutrients to sustain my body. "Your up early today!... As usual..." A familiar voice called making its way into the kitchen as I sat on the table to enjoy my
Chapter 20
We waited until it was dark and rendezvous at the agreed location. Jake and Ellie were finally happy to get me into their clique again but I really just wanted to kick some drug dealers butt tonight.Even though we were friends, we just weren't in the same level again. Doesn't mean I don't love and appreciate them. We wore random clothes so not to attract any unnecessary attention. But, we did bring our superhero gear and our licenses clipped to our chest. It felt weird holding onto my skateboard again, I would drop it from time to time but I remember when I used to hold tight not wanting to let it go. Of course I don't care about that skateboard any longer, I'd rather hold onto the Forever Core instead. We hid behind one of the few cars in a deserted parking lot of a warehouse. The warehouse has no lights outside but was perfectly luminated on the inside, that's how you know we shouldn't be there for any reason. We waited and waited until our target arrived. The Boss, the man
