Stone hearted
_31 Ether points gained._Orion’s dismissive glance swept over the dead bodies, unbothered by the blood that now painted the concrete red. As for the Ether points? He wasn’t surprised by the relatively minute amount of points he had gotten. It probably would have been more if he was still at the Mid stage. But he wasn’t.The others that had arrived behind Orion stared down at the messy scene around them. Gazing at Orion’s dismissive glance, as if these people didn’t even count as humans to him, sent shivers down their spines, even Evangeline’s.They had killed goblins and aberrants and could be said to be quite used to killing humanoid monsters. But those were monsters. Orion had directly killed actual humans! And the apathy in his eyes suggested there were barely any fluctuations to his heart. He had killed them as though they were mere chickens.Evangeline frowned, gazing furtively at Orion’s carefree expression, thoughts raging within her head. She had confirmed from Marcus that
Lack of Trust
Three weeks had now passed after the appearance of the apocalypse. Following the events of his past life, the clinic base had indeed been called the Sanctuary by the survivors living within it. The number of people living within it had also increased, reaching 62 people, including the expedition team. The structure of hierarchy within the Sanctuary had fully stabilized at that point. The leaders included Evangeline, Marcus and Orion. Immediately beneath them were the nine survivors within the Expedition team, which Derek’s lover, Vivian, had chosen to join.Below them were the survivors responsible for cooking and distributing the food or performing other miscellaneous tasks. Then the final bottom were the freeloaders. There was no currency anymore with the world in chaos, so Evangeline had simply and efficiently used food as a currency. The higher up on the hierarchy one was, the better the food they were allowed to enjoy. One could only praise the brilliant mind that Evangeline p
A Hunt
Evangeline glanced at the harshness within Orion’s eyes. One directed to not only other people, but also himself. A kind of harshness that did not fit the eyes of someone barely considered an adult. He proceeded to leave the shocked survivors behind him, locking the door behind him and sighing. His fingers brushed against the Obel’s necklace while his eyes dimmed, slowly returning to their normal blue color. ‘Damn it, I lost control there.’ A chuckle left his lips as his spoken words rang out in his head repeatedly. ‘I guess I’m still affected by all that happened. It doesn’t mean that my train of thoughts is wrong though. Cooperating with others makes sense, but nothing’s safer than having your own strength.’As for whether the Sanctuary would kick him out for his outburst, Orion didn’t really care that much. They weren’t the only force to obtain a World Gate, they were just the closest. He walked past the training section of his room and sat atop his bed
A Slaughter
Orion’s bloodlust overflowed like a river, leaving everyone frozen as he stepped forward. The claws fixed at his toes tapped onto the concrete ground as he walked forward slowly. His snout quivered, as if it could smell the fear leaking off the people before him bringing a gleeful light appearing within Orion’s luminescent yellow eyes. His large 3.5 meter height crouched slightly before he tapped onto the ground, his figure fading into a blur immediately after.By the time, most eyes could once more find his standing figure, he stood beside a swaying body which soon fell to the ground, missing its entire head. It was then they realized that Orion’s maw was dripping with blood. His jaw moved subtly, the crunching sounds of breaking bones sounding out.The fear within the people was finally replaced by a strong sense to survive whatever monster stood before them. Their quivering legs stepped back, before they all sprinted in different directions.A feral grin spread across Orion’s lips
Mutt
The two strong individuals stared at each other for merely two seconds before charging at each other, their movements causing explosions to ring out in the air.Orion’s claws receded as he fisted downwards at the steel man before him, who responded in kind and punched upwards. The impact between their fists resulted in an explosion of air that pushed the stones and dead corpses around them into the distance. They both retreated a moment after. Orion’s knuckles revealed itself to be a mangled mess, blood dripping down onto the ground while the steel man’s knuckles only seemed dented, yet before he could retort he watched as the former’s bleeding fists squirmed back into shape with no hint of any injury before. The steel man laughed with exasperation with his raspy voice. “Oi, oi. That’s almost cheating y’know?” His movements didn’t stop though. He tilted his body to the side to avoid a claw swipe from Orion before countering with a punch on his own.If Orion himself had been in his rig
Round Two
Orion had still been able to see everything and everyone he devoured along the way to Elion, he had been wrestling for the control of his body ever since, trying hard to restrain the bloodlust that guided his frenzied actions. Elion’s earlier words had been enough to push his mind over his limit and forcefully quell the bloodlust he was feeling, clearing his mind once more. Being compared to a normal Ether beast had provoked his inherent pride gained from becoming a werewolf. From the earlier fight with Elion, he could already tell that he and the man possessed around the same level of strength, his opponent just happened to be more defense oriented. This allowed Elion to have an easier time tanking his attacks while his situation was worse since he would have to expend more Ether than Elion to regenerate his injuries. But in a way, he had lasted so long due to his system. The normal build of his class would focus on his Constitution, Strength and Percept
End of the Full moon
Orion didn’t give Elion time to gather his thoughts. He was barely able to keep hold of his sanity with the help of the Obel’s Necklace as it stood, prolonging the battle would put him at a disadvantage. That and he could feel the effects of the full moon waning. This meant his Complete Werewolf Transformation would soon come undone! The ground beneath his feet caved in as his tall figure dashed forward, the air brushing wildly against his fur. His two hands swiped down, his deadly claws reflected within the eyes of the steel-like Elion. The steel man raised his hands to block his attack, infusing more Ether into his arms to defend against the ferocious attack, he chose to believe in his skill knowing that with enough Ether, he could defend against anything. His actions proved right as Orion’s claws scratched against the Elion’s metal arms, creating a series of sparks that flew into the air from their point of contact. His body moved backwards, borrowing the remaining force contained
X Grade Class
The Sanctuary’s meeting room was quite silent as everyone looked at the eating Orion, who seemed to not care as they stared at him. By his side were a large amount of plates that had been emptied by him already, yet he looked like he was nowhere near being full.Only after finishing two more plates filled to the brim with beast meat did Orion finally sigh with content. His transformation had really done a number on him, and since there was a possible chance he would be sent out of the Sanctuary after this meeting, he preferred to heal his internal injuries with food instead of his Ether.“So…” Orion pushed the plate aside, glancing casually at the eleven exhibition members as he spoke: “What do you want to know?”“We have some low level shifters in the Sanctuary. They’ve all claimed that they have never felt a sudden loss of clarity. Why is your skill so different?” Evangeline was, of course, the person to ask. Orion shrugged at her question and replied. “I could lie to you and say t
Acquired Skill
The method one usually took to acquire a skill was quite complicated. It involved increasing one’s base skill level to a certain level, which in someone like Marcus’ case would be Kinetic Manipulation, and achieving a sort of epiphany that would grant one a new skill. Not to mention how hard it was for Evolvers to get an epiphany, it was also hard to even come up with the complex criterions needed for a skill. What was worse was that you wouldn’t even know when your skill level was high enough. And since you wouldn’t know, you also wouldn’t be bothered to try formulating a skill that benefitted your fighting style. And this only happened after advancing to the Second Stratum. Most people in Orion’s past regression only managed to gain new skill in the heat of a battle where their brains formulated plan after plan so as to not get killed. They would receive a sort of mystical feeling that somehow made them realize that they could begin creating a new skill made for them by them.Of co
Aberrant Flood
_The trial: Aberrant Flood will soon commence.Rules:Humans are to band together within a building of choice, which will become registered within the trial as a base. Such a base will be registered only when a minimum of 20 people have been gathered within the building. All humans not within a base will face instant death. The amount of Aberrant’s raiding a base will depend on the amount of humans within a chosen base. Base confirmation begins now and will last an hour. The raid will begin in two hours._Mass panic erupted among the survivors within the Sanctuary as everyone read the content of the system’s announcement.Orion only watched apathetically as the group of survivors gathered with whimpers and pleading eyes as they begged the exhibition team to protect them. Why?It was because of a certain rule the system had revealed within its announcement. The amount of Aberrants would be dependent on the amount of humans within a base. Which meant the more people, the more aberran
