Jonah opened his eyes. The silver light burned like two miniature suns in the dark night. He gripped his forty-pound sledgehammer with both of his massive hands. He pulled the heavy weapon high above his head. He pulled it so far back that the iron head almost touched his own back. The thick iron scars on his arms glowed blindingly bright. He poured a massive, devastating amount of kinetic energy directly into the metal of the hammer. The weapon hummed so loudly it sounded like a screaming jet engine. Jonah looked at the empty, snowy ground exactly two hundred yards away. "Sit down," Jonah roared. Jonah swung the sledgehammer straight down. He slammed it directly into the frozen earth beneath his feet. The impact was apocalyptic. The frozen dirt completely shattered. A massive crater opened under Jonah’s boots. But the energy did not stay in the crater. A directed, concentrated kinetic s

Silas sent mutated zombies. But Silas always hid in the dark. Finding the Vanguard base was the only way to end the war permanently. Alpha saw the tiny movement in Jonah’s eyes. He saw a tiny spark of hope. "Yes!" Alpha gasped, talking incredibly fast. "The main base! It is a massive underground fortress! It is full of weapons, food, and magical servers! I can tell you how to get inside! I can give you the secret codes to bypass their invisible alarms!" Alpha reached his shaking right hand into the broken chest plate of his black armor. His fingers dug blindly inside the metal suit. He pulled hard. He tore a small, hidden pocket open. Alpha pulled out a small, heavy, rectangular object. It was a thick, black metal datapad. It looked like a heavy smartphone, but it was wrapped in dark iron and glowing purple lines of crystallized Mana. Alpha held the datapad up in the air with his bloody, trembling hand. "It is all right here!" Alpha cried happily. He thought he had found the key

The elite assassin, the most expensive, heavily armored, magically enhanced super-soldier of the Vanguard Command, was instantly, flawlessly obliterated. His high-tech black armor shattered into a million microscopic pieces of dust. His bones, his flesh, and the magical purple liquid in his tubes were completely vaporized by the sheer, crushing pressure of the kinetic explosion. There was nothing left. The hammer hit the bottom of the deep crater. The bright silver light slowly faded away. The dust and snow rained back down, covering the blasted, burned earth. The railyard fell perfectly, utterly silent. Jonah stood in the exact center of the massive, smoking crater. He was breathing heavily. Thick white steam poured from his lips. His right hand was still wrapped around the wooden handle of his sledgehammer. The heavy iron head rested on the cracked dirt at his feet. The glowing silver veins on his arm cooled down, turning back into dark, gray metal scars. He had done it. He
