The curse of the Nāga ring
The convoy of black vehicles wound its way through a dark, forested road that stretched for miles outside Windridge. Zeke sat between two bodyguards in the back seat, silent, his wrists bound loosely with zip ties. After about forty minutes, the vehicles turned off the main road and approached a pair of towering wrought-iron gates. They opened automatically, revealing a long cobblestone driveway that led to a sprawling mansion. This was Senator Gordon Vince’s private estate. The mansion was off the books, off the record, and far from the eyes of the law.Inside the mansion was alive with laughter, music, and the clinking of glasses. Several powerful men, ministers, businessmen, and fellow politicians mingled under the chandeliers surrounded by young women in cocktail dresses. When the G-Wagon stopped in front of the steps, the Senator’s bodyguards yanked Zeke out roughly. The guests on the veranda turned to watch, intrigued by the sudden commotion.“Senator Vince!” one of the min
The curse of the Nāga ring part 2
The blinded guard screamed in terror, his hands clawing at his own face. "I'm blind! I can't see anything!" He stumbled into a wall, crashing into a marble planter and sending dirt and petals scattering. A wave of pure fear swept through the room. The other politicians and their companions scrambled to their feet, their drinks forgotten, their eyes widening by a trifle. The remaining guards backed away, their hands held up in surrender. All eyes were fixed on Zeke, filled with raw horror. Senator Vince stared at the blind guard, his face pale. He took a stumbling step backward, his voice shaking. "What did you do to him?" he whispered, his voice shaking. Zeke’s gaze was cold as he glanced at the blind guard then back at the Nāga ring. "This ring holds the ability to curse anyone I wish. It's power was supposed to be a secert, but now you've now witnessed it. I cannot let you leave this room with the memory of what you've seen." A chorus of panicked pleas erupted from everywhere
The salty dog restaurant
Zeke drove the Harley to a run-down part of the city. The roads grew narrower, darker, and rougher until he slowed to a stop in front of a shabby little restaurant called "The Salty Dog." Zeke parked the Harley, killed the engine, and pulled out his secure phone Spencer had given him.He dialed Panda. The line connected instantly. "Young Master," Panda's voice came through. "I've been expecting your call.""I'm outside The Salty Dog," Zeke said, eyeing the shabby building. "What's next?""Beneath that restaurant is an underground black market," Panda explained. "It has a network of tunnels, including one that leads to a private dock on the sea."Zeke raised an eyebrow, surprised. "A black market under a local diner? Seriously?""Yes indeed," Panda confirmed. "They smuggle untaxed cigarettes and alcohol in through the waterway. The entire operation is hidden right under the kitchen." Zeke shook his head, genuinely amused. “So this is a smuggling hub.”"The man who runs it is a ruthl
The Tortoise secretary
After Zeke finished paying the entry fee, the chef handed Zeke a red armband. "Don't lose this. It identifies you as a buyer."The waitress led him through the walk-in freezer, which opened into a hidden doorway. They descended a narrow staircase into a maze of damp, concrete tunnels. The air grew cooler, filled with the scent of damp earth and tobacco. The tunnels opened into a vast underground chamber, bustling with activity. Men moved crates stamped with foreign labels, stacking boxes of untaxed alcohol, cigarettes, and electronics. The waitress finally brought Zeke to a private area where a woman with sharp eyes and expensive clothes sat behind a desk, chewing gum and typing on a laptop."Hi," the waitress said nervously. "This man is a buyer. He wants in on the auction."The woman looked Zeke up and down, unimpressed. "Sorry, fella," she said, popping her gum. "This one's for the big boys. Take him to one of the street vendors." She waved a dismissive hand as though Zeke was
The Tortoise
One of the two men finally broke the stunned silence in the room. "What is the meaning of this?" He asked, gesturing to the secretary."Nothing serious," Zeke replied coolly, not taking his eyes off her. "I'm just teaching her some manners. It seems she lacked them."Before anyone could say anything else, the door swung open and a man stepped into the room. He was the living image of his name, The Tortoise—a short, stout man with a small, bald head that seemed to retract into his broad shoulders. His features were undeniably ugly; his skin was rough, his nose flat, and his eyes narrow and calculating. But behind the ugliness, he had a ruthless mind that ran this entire underground black market. The Tortoise came to an abrupt halt, his gaze sweeping from his sobbing girlfriend to Zeke at the table."What the hell is going on here?" The Tortoise bellowed. The secretary instantly brightened at the sight of him. She scrambled to her feet and rushed to his side, pointing a trembling fin
The two old rings
The Tortoise's men began bringing in the goods. They set everything down on the long side table behind the Tortoise. One by one, the items were displayed: a Renaissance masterpiece ripped from a museum wall, a case of uncut blood diamonds from a sanctioned mine, a medieval crown missing two rubies, and a collection of priceless vintage watches stolen from a billionaire's vault.Zeke stared at all the items with an air of boredom. These weren't what he was looking for.Inorder not to look suspicious, he participated in the bidding, driving up the prices for the other two buyers, but always allowed himself to be outbid at the last moment.Item after item were presented. Bid after bid were made. But Zeke bought nothing. The Tortoise started twitching with impatience. The veins on his neck bulged a little more each time Zeke didn't buy a thing.By the fifth item, his patience had ran thin. "You," he said, slapping both palms on the table. "For a man who wave his money around, you still ha
The Tortoise curse
The Tortoise’s smile vanished. He stiffened, his eyes turning hard. “What are you talking about?" he said, his voice tightening. "Of course these are the rings.”“Do you really take me for a fool?” Zeke’s voice was like ice. He didn’t even need to pick them up. “The metal’s wrong. It isn’t even close to the original alloy. The carvings are shallow and rushed. These are fakes, made in a hurry to look like the originals.” The Tortoise’s jaw twitched. He had been caught.Zeke placed his palms flat on the desk and leaned forward, his gaze boring into the Tortoise. “I won’t ask again. Where are the real rings?”The Tortoise glared back, a slow, ugly smile spreading across his face. “Just how desperate are you for those rings?” he asked. “The moment you ignored every other artifact and only bought those rings, I knew something was up.”“Where. Are. They?” Zeke snarled, each word like a sharpened blade ready to cut him to pieces. In a flash, the Tortoise reached under his desk and came up
A god
The Tortoise's face was stunned with pure horror. "How is this possible?!" he screamed, his voice cracking. "How could this happen all at once?!""I warned you," Zeke said, his voice still calm as he regarded him. "You're dealing with forces you can't comprehend. This is just the start. Your luck has run out, and it will only get worse from here."The Tortoise swallowed hard. His mouth felt like it was packed with desert sand. His empire that he had built over the decades, was collapsing in minutes. He was finished. "Who... who the hell are you?" he whispered, his voice trembling in panic.Zeke stepped closer, his shadow falling over the man."Who I am doesn't matter," he replied, his hands still resting calmly on the desk. "The question is, are we going to bargain, or are you going to stand there and watch everything you've built turn to ash?"The Tortoise’s jaw worked uselessly for a moment as his mind scrambled. Then he spun around toward his secretary and his chief smuggler. "Ge
The scam
Zeke stepped out of the restaurant into the cool night air. He swung his leg over the Harley Davidson, but before he could start the engine, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He saw it was Mei and answered."Hello, pumpkin.""Zeke," her voice was filled with worry. "Are you alright up in Northern City? I hope Xavier hasn't found you."Zeke chuckled casually. "I'm perfectly fine. Haven't seen a hair of him since you left. Everything's quiet.""I'm so worried about you," she sighed. "I never should have left you alone. I haven't had a moment's peace, thinking of you by yourself.""I can take care of myself. Really, don't worry," he reassured her. There was a small pause, a shaky inhale from her end."I miss you, darling," she said softly. "I'm almost done with the convention. I'll be home soon. By the time I'm back, Xavier will have probably forgotten all about us.""I pray so," Zeke said. "I can't wait to have you back."There was a pause on the line. Then she went on, her voice breakin
Zeke offered to help his mother-in-law
"I'm sorry!" Anna cried, her voice trembling. "It was a terrible mistake! I never meant to lose the money! I thought I was helping. I swear I didn’t know.""A mistake?" Zhao Long roared, his face turning red. "Your 'mistake' has put us eight million dollars in debt! Do you understand what that means?"He paused, pacing around with his hands flying in frustration. "Our company is still recovering from the stock crash! We cannot afford to owe the banks right now! And what will our investors think, especially the Rockechilds Group? If news gets out that the wife of the CEO was scammed out of millions, they will pull their funding and we will be ruined!"Anna fell to her knees, sobbing harder. "Please, I beg you! I'll do anything to make it right! Forgive me!""Father, please," Pepper said, stepping forward, her eyes pleading. "It was one mistake. Anyone could’ve been deceived. Mother deserves a second chance."Her brothers and sisters quickly stood up, adding their voices to the plea. "
