CHAPTER 21
“Alright, Master West,” Mr. Freeman said, his voice was a bit above whispers but carrying a lot of urgency as he stepped toward the heavy mahogany door of the West family safe house. He passed Tape and slowly hit him on his shoulder. He reached for the handle, but Victor Langston West gave him a sharp look and pushed past, grabbing the handle himself.“I can open my own door, Mr Freeman,” Victor Langston West said almost, his voice laced with frustration and venom.Turning slowly he stared at Mr Freeman and Tape, Victor Langston West shook his head.“Can you all stop treating me like some king for five seconds and let Tape explain why he’s not dead?”“I'm not really going to stand here and pretend that I didn't see his dead body being pulled out of the river by the London bridge!” Victor Langston added, as he stared at Tape.Mr. Freeman raised his hands in mock surrender, a slightly faint smile appeared at his lips. “As you wish, Master West.” “As you wish Master West, I will do ex
CHAPTER 22
“Two million dollars?!” Victor Langston West immediately stopped, staring at the shining Chandelier above his head. He just couldn't get himself to believe what he was hearing at the moment, his gaze moved from the luxury two million dollar chandelier to Mr Freeman and Tape. “Two million? For a light?” He immediately asked again. “Your great-grandfather had a taste for the dramatic,” Mr. Freeman said, his voice barely above whispers and his eyes sharp, watching Victor Langston West closely. Victor Langston West shook his head and took a deep breath. “Come, let me show you something more personal.” Mr Freeman said as he continued the personal tour for Victor Langston West. They paused before a row of portraits and stared at each of the golden framed portraits. Mr. Freeman pointed to the first. “Your great-grandfather, the first Lord West. Built the family’s fortune from nothing. Ruthless, but brilliant.” “He began the whole West family tradition which everyone now fo
CHAPTER 23
Mr. Freeman hesitated a little bit and then gestured toward the end of the corridor from where they were standing. “It’s in the safe vault, somewhere in this house. Only a true West can open it, that is the reason why I actually brought you back to the West's family safehouse.” Mr Freeman said, his voice was a bit above whispers. Victor Langston West's eyes narrowed, a little bit of suspicion creeping in. “Why does it feel like you’re still keeping more secrets from me Mr Freeman?” Before Mr. Freeman could respond, Victor Langston West’s gaze caught on a frame at the end of the corridor, turned backward so the portrait and the painting on it was hidden. He stepped toward it, his curiosity immediately cranked up. “Who’s this?” Victor Langston West asked, his voice now matching that curiosity on his face. Mr. Freeman’s face tightened, his voice dropping to a very low murmur.“That… is Lord Vandel. And his granddaughter, Tai Vandel.” Immediately Victor Langston West heard what Mr F

Mr. Freeman didn’t answer, his eyes were still locked on the doorway. The revolver was shimmering in his hand, steady despite the tension that was present in the safehouse. “Stay behind me, Master West” he said, his voice a bit above whispers. “This isn’t over yet.” The banging came again, louder this time, now rattling the walls of the door. Victor Langston West's pulse raced vehemently, his mind spinning with the weight of everything he’d just learned from Mr Freeman and Tape. Tape wasn’t dead. The West family had been watching him all along. And now, someone—or something—was trying to get into the so-called safe house. “Mr Freeman,” Victor Langston West said, his voice was a bit shaky but still determined. “If that’s not Tape, who is it?” Mr. Freeman’s fist tightened, his eyes squinting as he raised the revolver. “I don’t know Master West,” he said, his voice a bit detached and cold. “But we’re about to find out.” The safe house now seemed to hold its breath, th

“Yes, I hear you!” “Yes, I really really can hear you, Mr Freeman!” Victor Langston West shouted, his voice laced with a mixture of confusion and frustration as he watched Mr. Freeman as he walked toward the corridor where the strange and scary footsteps still echoed. The safe house now felt like a labyrinth of deadly shadows, to Victor Langston West, it was as though each corner was hiding potential threats. Victor Langston West's grip on the ornate key was immediately tightened, its warmth building into his palm as if it were alive or something rather more strange and very disturbing. Mr. Freeman moved down the stairs he and Victor Langston West had run up some minutes ago, his German-made revolver was shining in the dim light coming from the full moon outside the West Safe House. “Who’s there?” Mr Freeman called out again, his voice was laced with a little bit of fear and anxiety but was still sharp enough, cutting through the very creepy and disturbing silence. H
CHAPTER 26
Mr Freeman stared at Tape and Lily as he expected an answer to his rather shocking question. Tape slowly pointed to the alcove behind them, a narrow space tucked between two wooden massive bookshelves. “Right there Mr Freeman. Been waiting for the perfect moment to jump out. You should’ve heard yourselves—‘Who’s there?” Tape immediately mimicked Freeman’s tone as he tried to alleviate the tension, earning another giggle from Lily who was behind him. Mr Freeman shook his head, pinching the bridge of his nose before staring askance at Tape and Lily. “You two are unbelievable. Where’s your sense of timing? We’re in the middle of a crisis here!” “We were in the middle of a freaking trouble, you little delinquents!” Mr Freeman yelled at Tape and Lily, he was still angry with the whole pranking them of a thing. Mr Freeman crossed his arms, still glaring at Tape and Lily angrily “Yeah, and where were you when we were freaking out about someone breaking in? You could’ve said so
CHAPTER 27
Tape laid on the floor and winced out in pain, he groaned, sitting up on the floor as blood ran down his forehead. “Ow, man! What the heck!!!” Tape immediately screamed from the floor. Victor Langston West immediately froze, his chest pounding a bit faster than usual as he realized what he’d done. “Wait… it’s just you guys?” “I thought it was Lord Vandel or Tai Vandel, his granddaughter?” Victor Langston West asked immediately, his voice was laced with a mix of determination and curiosity. Mr Freeman wiped a tear from his eye, still chuckling a little bit. “Master West, it’s fine. It’s just Tape and Lily pulling their stupid prank. No one’s breaking in.” “It's just these two delinquents who I hired to protect you…somewhat.” Mr Freeman said, almost laughing. Victor Langston West's face flushed no immediately, with a mix of embarrassment and a hint of adrenaline. “Tape, you scared the hell out of us! Why would you do that?!” Victor Langston West immediately asked Tape who was st

“Master West, whatever happens, don’t hesitate. The vault will test you, but you can’t back down.” “This is the only way to actually make sure we find the West family's heirloom and keep it safe from the wrong hands.” Mr Freeman said, his voice was a bit above whispers. Victor Langston West’s hand trembled as he turned the key in the vault’s lock. The heavy steel door guarding the vault made a rather disturbing noise like groaning, a deep sound that echoed through the safe house like warning…somewhat. The carvings on the huge metal door immediately brightened and the strange carvings began to glow too. Victor Langston West's heart pounded as he moved his gaze from the key in his hand to the door and off to Tape, Lily and Mr Freeman. “Well, damn,” Tape immediately whispered, his eyes immediately widened as he looked inside the West family safe vault. His face was etched in shock and bewilderment, he rubbed his head with his hands. “That’s not what I expected…I was actually expe
CHAPTER 29
“Yeah, no kidding at all Master West, we are not going to let that dumb relative of yours anywhere near the West family heirloom, we just need to find it first.” Lily said as she walked away from where Tape was and now towards Victor Langston West.Tape let out a laugh, shaking his head. “No kidding! You’re, like, a billionaire ten times. You could buy a country with these artefacts…wait a minute, Master West, I actually think you should start pricing the whole planet.” Tape said as he laughed out loud.Lily immediately walked over to him, elbowed him, her expression now laced with premium seriousness as she stared at Tape.“It’s not just about money, Tape. This is power. Real power. And that’s why Lord Vandel and Tai Vandel actually want it.”“A man like Lord Vandel isn't someone who I think is actually after money or anything, he looks like someone after power…like a power hungry freak.” Lily's voice was a bit above whispers, she moved her gaze away from Tape and unto Mr Freeman.Vi

Tape nodded and smiled gleefully at Lily, wiping the dried blood from his forehead. “Yeah, we got distracted. Let’s find this West family heirloom thing before Lord Vandel and his creepy granddaughter, Tai Vandel shows up.” Tape's voice was laced with a mixture of urgency and determination.Lily’s face darkened at the mention of Tai Vandel, it wasn't actually the first time it had happened to her, her voice was a bit laced with trepidation and anxiety as she spoke.“If Lord Vandel and Tai Vandel get their hands on it, we’re done. That relic’s not just some shiny trinket. It’s… powerful.”“I don't know if it's true but…”“But I heard that the West family heirloom has the power to do the impossible…whatever that actually means.”Victor Langston West's eyes narrowed slowly.“Powerful how? You keep saying that, but what does it actually do?”“If no one knows how powerful this West family heirloom is…then we have actually been sitting ducks.” Victor Langston West's eyes moved to another g
