Linda’s cheeks flushed a deep red, but before she could retaliate, Racheal’s temper flared. “Enough!” she snapped, stepping forward. “Stop spreading lies. If you want to help us, fine, but I won't stand and watch you tarnish my image.”Zendaya tilted her head, her eyes gleaming with amusement. “I’m only stating facts. Where have I lied? Oh, before I forget. Where is that husband of yours? I heard he was famous recently.”“Zendaya! Don't be so rude. Rachel's divorced now so of course you won't see that good for nothing.” Linda, sister, Avery added, pretending to scold her daughter, a malicious glint in her eyes.Avery’s arrival was a surprise but her words were laced with clear venom.Linda glared at her sister, clenching her fist, Racheal turning pale, as the whispers now tripled.“Sister, you really need to control your daughter. Take Racheal for example, she's able to find Martin because she acts refined. With a character like that, I worry if Zendaya would ever get married.” Linda

The slap echoed through the hallway like the crack of a whip, causing a stunned silence.Arthur's head slightly turned, a red mark blooming on his cheek, his eyes deadly fixed on Linda. His gaze, silent, cold, sent shivers down Linda's spine. For a moment, Linda felt fear, but she quickly dismissed it, growing more enraged. “You dare look at me like that?!”She raised her hand again, but this time Arthur’s palm shot up, catching her wrist midair.“Don’t try me anymore,” his low voice froze her in place. “I’m not the same Arthur you used to mock so don't think for once I won't dare hit you back, so respect yourself.”With that, he tightened his grip, adding pressure to her wrist until she winced, before he flung her hand aside, his glare cutting through her like a blade. “The only reason I ever tolerated your mouth was because of Racheal. But now that we’re divorced, I won’t take trash from anyone—least of all you.”Linda took a shaky step back, her face flushing with anger and fear.

Linda’s eyes went wide, then blazed with fury. “You bastard, so what if your mother’s dead?! That has nothing to do with us! Don’t blame your failure on our family!”Arthur’s jaw tightened, but before he could respond, Racheal’s voice cut in, mocking and cruel.“And please. It was only three million dollars. That much isn’t even worth the suffering I went through while married to you.”“Racheal!” Jessica’s voice broke through sharply. “That’s enough!”“I didn’t call him here so you could rub salt in his wounds. If you can’t control yourself, then don’t expect me to help you anymore—even if it costs me everything!”Her outburst left the room stunned.Harold’s face turned crimson. “Ungrateful brat! I should’ve known better than to take you in! You shame your family name!”“Father—” Jessica began, but he cut her off with a furious glare.“You’re no daughter of mine! If my father-in-law hadn't begged me to take you in, I would never have done such a foolish thing!”“Ungrateful child, sidi

“The patient is awake, please don't upset her.” The nurse's words were meant to calm, but they did the opposite, instantly turning the room into chaos.Arthur and Jessica stood consciously to the side, watching as the Harris family swarmed the old lady on the bed.“Mother, are you okay?” Avery and Linda both asked, both grabbing the old woman's hands as she weakly lay on the bed with half-lidded eyes. Her face was pale, and she looked like she was hanging on a thread, making the family even more eager to put on a show. The faces of the Harris family twisted with faux concern, as they suppressed the greed in their hearts, subtly trying to show affection for the old woman rather than the other.Arthur calmly watched the former martirach without a word.In his heart, he knew this was how the rich played their affection, but it still made his heart cold. The nurse on the side, tired of their questioning, adjusted the IV fluid, making a quick answer as she left. “The patient is fine. I'll

“Y–Young master?” Alford stammered in disbelief, his words stunning Arthur and Jessica in place.“Excuse me, I think you've got it wrong.” Jessica nervously laughed, finding the situation awkward.Arthur, too, was surprised, but for a different reason. He didn't remember Mason introducing him to anybody, so how could this man know he was a young master?Wary, he flat out denied, his expression turning cold. “Who are you?”Despite Arthur's indifferent attitude, Alford was visibly trembling with excitement. “Yoing master, my name is Alford,” he said quickly. “The lawyer handling your case—”“Mr. Alford?” Linda's surprised voice swiftly cut Alford off, but she didn't notice, still in shock. After realizing who he was, she quickly called out to him, making everyone in the ward eagerly look outside. Hearing her mother's call, Racheal strode out of the ward, with Martin and Harold close on her tail.“My mother is awake, you came right in time. Come, come.” She smiled, cheerfully inviting

“The Harris family group shall be inherited by Racheal,” Alford read solemnly, pausing. He slowly looked round, catching the nervous faces of the Harris family, he continued, “If she is still married to Arthur.” The words cut like a sharp knife sending everyone in the room into stunned silence. Even though they had heard whispers of the condition from Alford's assistant, whom they had bribed, hearing it aloud now, confirmed by Mr Alford himself, made their hearts pound. Linda forced a strained laugh. “Mr. Alford, we already know that, but what happens now? Arthur and Racheal are divorced.” Alford looked her squarely in the eye. “Then, I’m afraid, Mrs. Harris, that is no longer my concern. I am bound only to your father’s last wishes.” His words fell like stones. The old matriarch’s face darkened. “This… this makes no sense,” she muttered under her breath, clutching her sheets. “Why would he write such a ridiculous clause?” Her tone softened as she looked at Alford. “Mr. Alford,

Silently, three days rolled past, and now it was time for Madam Ayun's burial. So much drama had happened, but now it was D-Day, and Arthur couldn't avoid it.Staring at his reflection in the mirror he sadly eyed himself.Different from before, the air around him had changed, tainted with a quiet mystery that demanded caution. His blue suit, highlighting his handsome face, a face he didn't know could stand out so much.If it were a week ago and someone told him his life was going to change at the cost of his nanny's death, he would have beaten that person to death, but who would have thought…His sadness was thick, permeating the air, but it didn't dampen the workers' mood around him, as they neatly touched up his outfit.Mason stood quietly by the corner, his proud gaze resting softly on his young master. He too had the same thought looking at Arthur. He could feel the change.‘If only Aiyun were still alive.’ He sighed at the thought, shaking his head. She was gone, and it was no

“A mere son-in-law?” Orion scoffed, angrily shaking his head. “A nobody,” he seethed. “A mere nobody dares stir the capital like this? Cause such a commotion?”Orion struck the armrest with his palm, creating a thunderous crack.“Is he seeking death?!”He roared, angry red eyes sweeping around the room. As part of the top leading families in the capital, the Xavier family had always prided itself as royalty.Without them, no emerging family or Rick kids dared swagger in front of them, and yet a sudden wealthy fellow thinks he can ride over their heads without paying respect?‘Who did he think he was?’ This Arthur didn't even take them as anything so where should he put his face? The thought infuriated Orion. Sensing their master's fury, the masked spies stiffened, heads bowed even lower.“To think a divorced mutt from the Harris family found money and suddenly believes he can shake the aristocracy…” Orion growled, the veins on his forehead throbbing. “The audacity.”His anger simmer

“That’s enough,” Harold pretentiously scolded. “We’ve already moved on, so let's just focus on our purpose here.” Onlookers from left and right, stretched their necks curiously as they watched the Harris family put on a show, obviously amused by Harold's words. They weren't blind to see the look in his eyes. Understanding flashed in Racheal's and Linda's eyes. Throwing a light glance and a scoff, they ignored Jessica. Jessica pursed her lips, feeling wronged, but there was nothing she could do. Silently watching at the elevated angle for VIPs, Martin Hemsworth stood with a few of his friends, their laughter drowning past his ears. “Hey, Martin, isn't that your fiancée?” A blonde-haired kid, Buston Green spoke, wrapping his arm around Martin's shoulder, acting like a buddy, but the mocking smile on his lips told otherwise. Martin's face twitched, growing dark. “Don't speak nonsense. It hasn't been decided yet.” “What?! Didn't you both announce your engagement last week at a p

“You…!” James pointed his finger at Linda, his face flushed red. Huston, equally furious, cut forward. “How dare you speak like that to us?”“What?” Linda scoffed, folding her arms. “Did I lie? Everybody here knows that your company is on the verge of bankruptcy, so what's wrong with what I said?”The faces of Neal and James instantly blackened, as whispers around grew. James felt like his intestines had twisted, his body shaking with anger. He turned to Racheal and Harold. Harold, sensing his gaze, pursed his lips, instantly avoiding eye contact with James. While Racheal said nothing, she obviously sided with her mother. ‘Very well.’ James thought, his knuckles turning white. He remembered helping the Harris family back then when they were still an upstart company, and now that the tables had turned, they wanted to burn that bridge. “It seems like we aren't welcome here. Sorry to bother you, but my nephews and I will take our leave.” James gritted out, every word like glass hi
