Chapter 131
The night of the initiation came without much warning. Jeremy was nervous. Which was odd, he'd not been nervous in years. He knew what this meant, that something was going to go wrong tonight. He thought about taking a weapon with him tonight but they'd been very specific about not bringing in any weapons but he didn't trust them to not try anything funny.. He glared at his own reflection, stunned by how good he looked in his pants. Amy really has a good eye for everything. He had his pants on and his white dress shirt and then his vest. He looked good, he knew that but he wasn't happy about going to an unknown location to be initiated but a bunch of corrupt billionaires but he had to do this to find out if they'd truly been responsible for Mr. Verde's death. He'd promised Mrs Verdes and he couldn't give up now just because of a haunch. Besides, he knew he couldn't die now. His phone rang just then and i

Jeremy made his way to Sophia, needing answers from her. He stole two champagne flutes from the tray of a waiter as he strolled up to her. The party seemed normal enough. At least for the ten minutes he'd been here. Nothing strange had happened and most of the women and men welcomed him warmly, talking to him with a smile… From what they'd said, he assumed they all knew he was being initiated today “Sophia, didn't expect to see you here,” he whispered as he handed her a glass of champagne. “Jeremiah, I'm glad you could make it,” she said, taking the champagne flute from him and taking a soft sip. “Make it? I had no choice in the matter.” Jeremy answered nonchalantly. “Well, it is your initiation night, it is standard protocol for all members,” Jeremy nodded. “What exactly are you doing here?” He gritted out, standing beside her as he tried to act normal “What do yo
Chapter 133
Naomi woke up to knocking and her phone ringing incessantly. As it turned out, it wasn't her alarm but Alex calling. She didn't need to pick up to know he was the one at the door Groggily, she pulled herself off of bed, rubbing at her eyes as she strolled to the door. She pulled it open and just as she had suspected, Alex stood at the door. “What the hell? I have been standing here for five minutes.* *Sorry, I was asleep,” Naomi murmured. “It's 10am!” He said. “Just come in.” She yawned, turning and walking back to her bed. She fell face first on her bed, groaning. She was bone deep tired. She and Alex had spent last night trying to make sense of the information they'd found. She'd only gotten at 1am and had finally slept at 3:45am “Are you okay?” “No, I'm exhausted,” she said with a muffled voice as she snuggled against her pillow. “Really? I woke up ar

As soon as Naomi hung up, Jeremy called one of his vigilantes to tell him to find Alex. “Keep me updated,” he said and hung up. “Problem?” Sophia asked, her plastic smile in place. “Nothing that concerns you, Sophia.” Jeremy sighed. Shaking his head. He didn't want to panic but if his sister's best friend had gone missing, then it must mean two things: He has been found out or He was dead. Jeremy's intuition was rarely ever wrong. “What the hell happened to me last night?” Jeremy asked, his brows furrowed. He'd been trying to figure this out all day but had come out with a complete blank. He'd been planning to reach out to Sophia eventually but as the universe may have it, she'd come to see him all on her own. Sophia smirked like she usually did. “That's a secret I can't tell you.” Jeremy was not amused. “What do you mean it's a secret? You're supposed to be my ally,” “And you are bu

“Did you miss me?” Ariel asked, a sweet but confident smile on her face. Outside, she looked casual but inside she was hoping he did because she certainly did. Jeremy chuckled, pulling her into a hug. “I was worried about you.” That was not exactly what she wanted to hear but it was something, so it wasn't bad. “Oh, really?” Ariel asked, a satisfied smile on her face. “Yes, one moment you were with me and the next you were gone without a phone call. Are you alright?” Jeremy asked, his eyes locked with hers. “Yes,” she murmured, looking up at him. She wished he'd close the distance between them and just kiss her already “I'm glad to hear that. Did you fix the problem?” Jeremy's question interrupted her “Actually yes I did,” “That's great, it took two days?” Jeremy asked, dropping his suitcase and plopping down on his couch. Ariel made her way towards him, her eyes resting

Jeremy frowned at his phone. It was Carla calling. He didn't like the sound of that. Was she okay? Why didn't she just call Amy? Without thinking too much, he answered the call. “Carla? How are you?” He asked, holding his breath. He could tell something wqs wrong with the breath she took. “Oh, thank God.” She said with a relieved yet panicked sigh. “I'm sorry to disturb you, Mr Jeremy but My sister is missing.” She said, her voice cracking at the end. Jeremy froze “Are you sure about this?” he asked. “Very sure.” She answered, barely able to keep the panic out of her voice. Jeremy felt a cold shiver rush down his spine . First Alex, now, Maya? “Have you called Amy?” “I tried but she didn't pick up, I had no choice but to call you, sir. Please do something. Your sister is all I have. “Alright. Hold on for a minute, w
Chapter 137
The country club he went to was not one he expected. Of course he didn't expect any country club to be owned by non shady people but for this particular one that was owned by a church, he was genuinely surprised. The country club sprawled over a lush expanse of land, its pristine lawns trimmed to perfection and the scent of jasmine floating through the warm air. White coloured buildings stood in the distance, designed like a mission style monastery with tall arched windows and red clay roofs. A silver cross shimmered directly above the main clubhouse, nestled between terracotta tiles. Classical music played softly from hidden speakers. Inside, polished wood floors gleamed beneath golden chandelier, and subtle murals of biblical scenes adorned the corridors. Despite its supposed religious ownership, the place was far from modest. It exuded opulence and affluence. Jeremy was disgusted along side impressed. He never understood why rich old white men golfed

As soon as Jeremy got home, the first person he called was Ariel. “What's wrong?” She asked, opening the door to her bedroom. “I just need a long hug,” Jeremy said. He was about to tell her what happened but something stopped him, an invisible cord that he couldn't see made him uncomfortable. Ariel's eyes widened and she immediately hugged him without question. Jeremy melted into her embrace. He didn't look at it but he was tired. “Did something happen?” Ariel asked after a while of both of them just standing there in each other's embrace. “No, nothing. I'm just tired.” “Right...” she said with a skeptical tone. “Come in. You need some rest.” She said, pulling Jeremy into her room. She guided him to her bed and Jeremy sat down. “Now what happened? I know something must have happened between in the country club because you don't look happy,” “I'm not happy
Chapter 139
As Jeremy stepped out to the patio, where the man stoodz he couldn't help but wonder why a higher up from the organization could want with him. He didn't remember doing anything wrong to provoke them, right? As far as he could remember at least. Had he been sloppy by taking those dovukens home? Maybe Sophia had snitched on him Still not enough reason to come all the way out here. Jeremy opened the wine bottle and handed him a glass of wine. “So, what did you want again?” He asked, his eyes monitoring every slight movement of his. He smiled at Jeremy, something in his eyes took Jeremy aback. He was young but he looked like he'd been here forever. He was in his early forties, maybe even late thirties. “You are very straight to the point, aren't you?” “Well, it's strange having you here I want to know if I have done something not to the organisation’s taste,”

Chapter 140
“So, what do you know?” Jeremy asked, watching the agent with a healthy dose of skepticism. Even though his badge and status as an agent had appeared to be legit, there was still the possibility of him working for the interest of the billionaires' club. The government was not exactly known for its transparency. The FBi agent, Carter Sevan, smiled with his bottom teeth. “A lot, but unfortunately, it is not enough. I'm fairly new with the organization and was recently promoted. They are very tight-lipped about information.” “Even though you literally run things?” Jeremy asked, his brows knitted together in question and a bit of skepticism. “A few of them suspect that I killed the late member. They still don't trust me. Plus, there's an inner circle,” he answered simply. Jeremy stared at him, sure he was hiding something. He was an FBI agent after all. It was normal for them to hide things. But for some reason, “So, what makes you thin
